The Idolmaster: Shiny Festa

Bandai Namco will end service for smartphone games The Idolmaster: Shiny Festa Harmonic Score, The Idolmaster: Shiny Festa Rhythmic Record, and The Idolmaster: Shiny Festa Melodic Disc on March 15, the publisher announced.

When service ends, you’ll still be able to play the game if you already own it, but you won’t be able to download any music from the DLC Store, and Bandai Namco can no longer guarantee the game will function as it should.

That said, Bandai Namco is having a blowout sale ahead of the service’s end on March 15. The price of each game has been lowered to $3.99, and all additional music is free to download.

Was going to say at least you can still play it, but they can’t even guarantee the game will “function as it should”? :

    • oldgameswerebetter

i think it just mean that the support will be obviusly interrupted too, so if you got any problem you are on your own

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

Means that they won’t be rolling out any updates or anything, so if you update your iDevice and its not compatible or has issues you can’t do anything about it.

    • Renaldi Saputra

maybe the DLCs won’t be accessible anymore, so you only got below 100% content

  • SprintsMcGee

For $3.99 I’ll take my chances. If it doesn’t work after the service ends then at least I didn’t pay full price for the game.

    • Zazon Zenzy

Better be quick. Without the DLCs, athough completely free, is a cut content.

Ooo, apparently all the song DLC is free!~

  • chroma816

    >Only iPhone
    Goddamnit.

But it turns out these were PSP games first, so there’s still hope to play them.

    • Renaldi Saputra

with emulator, yeah, or buying a digital PS Vita ver which is only around 2500 yen

    • Raphael Cuyugan

And only the US App Store has it.

      • Renaldi Saputra

Umm no, korea and taiwan has it too IIRC

  • OlimacFTW

First time I hear about this game.

  • Zazon Zenzy

The “Free” DLCs are actually cut songs from the original PSP roster. Guys, better get it fast especially the DLC!

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

What’s the difference between each game?

      • Renaldi Saputra

        songs, and IIRC anime episodes.

you can think that they’re all 3 separated game of a whole 1 coz a UMD has limits when was still PSP.

      • Zazon Zenzy

The main difference is the roster of the songs and the 21 minutes opening, or should I say, anime episodes. 14 different songs each game and 6 of them are shared and the same. Oh, not to mention the idols that greet you are different between versions.

  • Daniel Guerrero

Never played the games but i love Idol master since i like the first anime

  • TheMattBattalion

    This is way too sudden.
    WHERE DO I BUY IT!?
Is this for IPhone or Android? Both?
    This is way too sudden.

    • TheMattBattalion

It’s only for IPhone!? Well, maybe we will get an English version of Starlight Stage now!

      • Raphael Cuyugan

iPhone and iPad to be exact and only on the US App Store.

        • BaronKrause

The Jp version isn’t getting its service cut? Or was this oddly never released in Japan?

          • Renaldi Saputra

no, it’s actually 3 or 4 language, japanese, english, traditional chinese, and korean. Japan got it too

      • Renaldi Saputra

        Yeah maybe
But I still doubt coz it has so many underaged girls

  • Budgiecat

“and Bandai Namco can no longer guarantee the game will function as it should.”

    lol wut

“buy this game now before its gone forever….but we cant guarantee it’ll work after you buy it and we shut the service down!”

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Pretty sure they mean that if there are bugs and what not that pop up that they won’t be patching it.

      • Budgiecat

I miss the days when devs would really try not to make a bug ridden game upon release when patches didnt exist lol

but nah I think it has more to do with what others said: like if you update your phone and it can no longer run right on it…

but yeah this trend of getting rid of online only digital games just makes me realize more how Im not down with this digital only future or mobile trend

  • BaronKrause

Question is, if you change devices (restore from old backup on IOS, use third party app restore program on android) will the downloaded DLC need to reauthenticate (and fail) or will it still work.

With the rate phones are upgraded if this content will be frozen forever on just that specific device it was downloaded on then it isn’t even worth the effort.

    • Renaldi Saputra

nah it doesn’t guarantee either, I can say that this tactic is kinda sly

  • Daverost

I knew it was trouble from the second they split that DLC out. Free or not, now this is happening.

It was cheaper at the time of release for me to just import the games on PSP, so I did that, but can’t really argue with English for that price. Hopefully I can fit all of these and the DLC on my old 4S since there’s no way it’ll fit on my active phone.
