PlayStation 4 remaster coming to the Americas and Europe.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is coming to the Americas and Europe both physically and digitally this spring, Sega announced. It will cost $29.99 / CA$44.99.

In the Americas, pre-orders and a limited number of launch edition retail copies of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will come packaged in a collectible Squad 7 Armored Case.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered

The PlayStation 4 version of the tactical RPG runs in 1080p at 60 frames per second, and features both Japanese and English audio support, all the original downloadable content, and PlayStation Network trophy support.

Here’s the full fact sheet, via Sega:

About

In the world of Valkyria Chronicles, the year is 1935 E.C., and the continent of Europa has been plunged into the Second Europan War between the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance — also known as The Empire — and the Atlantic Federation over the precious resource Ragnite. The Empire is sweeping through the continent like an unchecked wildfire and has its eyes set on the rich Ragnite deposits of the Principality of Gallia. Although peaceful Gallia remains neutral in the conflict, its citizens will need to defend home and country against the inevitable invasion. Players follow Lieutenant Welkin Gunther and the vaunted Squad 7 of the Gallian Militia as they take on the seemingly insurmountable forces of the Empire.

Features

  • HD “CANVAS” Graphics Engine – The stunning, painterly graphics return, but this time in 1080p/60fps high definition quality! Battles and cutscenes are conveyed like a vibrant tapestry in motion.
  • “BLiTZ” tactical battle system – Part overhead turn-based strategy, part RPG, and part real-time 3rd person shooter, the” BLiTZ” system is an innovative mechanic that makes battles simultaneously strategic and action-packed. Players will command and control their soldiers and tanks as they take on the Empire in 30 different battlefronts.
  • Memorable storyline – Set against the backdrop of a world war, Gunther, Alicia, Largo and the rest of the fierce members of Squad 7 fight for personal reasons in the name of freedom, and the hope against all odds of liberating Gallia from Empire control, all in the face of the terrible realities of war.
  • DLC Included – Besides the core game, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered includes all previously released DLC: Hard EX Mode, Edy’s Mission, Selvaria’s Mission, and Challenge of the Edy Detachment.

In Japan, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will launch for PlayStation 4 on February 10 and include a “Battle Demo Ver. 1.0” for Sega’s new PlayStation 4 title Valkyria: Azure Revolution, which is due out this winter in the country. When asked by Gematsu, Sega said it currently has no word on Valkyria: Azure Revolution.

    WHAT A SUPRISE!!

I can’t believe this is what the puzzle was pointing to!!

    My mind is blown!!!

  • Hatsuaki

Great news, will definitely pick it up when it hits shelves in Europe!

  • Vashe

Already finished it on PC in 4K (yup!), I more hyped for the new spin off

    • Renaldi Saputra

too bad u won’t get Azure’s demo in this

      • Vashe

I know, but I can wait. I’ll never buy a game I already own to get a demo anyway.

  • Digital-Devil

Retail and reduced price!? I’m starting to like this new SEGA.

  • The Silent Hours

Sega delivered for once. Hooray for not being disappointed.

  • Renaldi Saputra

    no demo for Valkyria Azure?

    hahahahahahahaha

  • Raphael Cuyugan

Woohoo! This is worth it to preorder even for Canadians like me!

  • renji00

WHAT? I need that case over here too.

  • PrinceHeir

“Sega said it currently has no word on Valkyria: Azure Revolution.”

    Lol already expected this

    • Renaldi Saputra

they maybe only localize this one coz VC did well on steam, and Azure is different genre

    • Luna Kazemaru

Not sure what you all where expecting when there isnt even a release date for that yet

    • Alos88

I’m guessing that the odds of that coming rest on how well this sells. That’s a pretty standard tactic for Sega these days.

    • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

Wait for Valkyria of Duty exclusive to westerners, must be in planning

  • Sunny11

And people said this wouldn’t come
    Day 1, buy this people

    • Renaldi Saputra

      the demo isn’t coming, though

      • Sunny11

If this don’t sell well on PS4 you can bet your ass that the actual Azure Revolution game won’t even come to the West.
Well maybe on PC since Valkyria Chronicles sold very well there and might skip PS4

        • Renaldi Saputra

          well, maybe

        • Richard Miller

Yes that’s why people need to speak with their wallet.

        • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

Even if this game sells, they still won’t release Revolution. The only reason why they’re releasing this is because they know it’ll sell and they saw the PC sales.

Also the work is already done, they’re getting paid by us to port it to PS4..

        • DrForbidden

To be honest, I think that reasoning is pretty illogical. AR is a completely different beast than VC and the two games share little in common aside from some themes. Using sales from VC to predict interest in AR is like using sales of XBlaze: Lost Memories to gauge how well Blazblue: Central Fiction will sell. The results are bound to be wildly inaccurate and may well be completely bunk so I doubt even Sega would do that. Of course, they’d never admit that since they want us to buy the remaster.

      • Luna Kazemaru

why did you expect it to come? The game doesn’t have a release date at all in Japan an right now they are focusing on they own waters

        • Renaldi Saputra

well, I thought they will give all the content Japan will have

          • Luna Kazemaru

you are getting all the content just not the demo since its really just aimed at the Japanese for feedback

            • Renaldi Saputra

              ah okay then

            • https://twitter.com/RyoonZ RyoonZ

But they made it available for teh Chinese and Korean too?

              • Luna Kazemaru

pretty sure its not I didn’t check those releases since I normally just import from one or two places that don’t deal with those regions. If they are I said corrected

        • Budgiecat

          thats their #1 problem

  • DoUEvenLeviosa?

I need a pre order link with the steelbook pleeeeeeaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • badmoogle

I really hope the collector’s armored case launch edition will be available for Europe too. You’re doing great Sega don’t screw us now.

  • Pastmaster

Not a big deal with the demo, they will probably put it up on PSN outside of Japan. It’s very easy to download it.

    • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

They aren’t going to release the demo for Azure Revolution unless they plan on releasing the game in the states.

      Which I highly doubt

      • Richard Miller

I see no reason why they wouldn’t release it to the west.

        • Budgiecat

          (Sega)

          no reason necessary

        • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

          Because it’s Sega.

  • Zeria

Sooo, special physical version for EU as well, or does Sega hate money?

  • Noel

Yes! Will buy this game one more time.

  • https://twitter.com/KinguArcher King Archer

Anyone got the preorder link for amazon yet? Can’t seem to find it.

    • DoUEvenLeviosa?

All links are down because the shops haven’t updated the catalog.

  • Wolf Star

    I needs that preorder :O

  • Infasis

That price point is awesome. I’m definitely buying this.
    (The physical version, obviously)

  • nonchalantxsteve

Great now if we can get shenmue 1&2 for ps4 that would be awesome!

    • Richard Miller

Don’t forget the PC too. And JSRF for PC would be a dream come true. c:

      • Sunny11

        JSRF?

        • Richard Miller

          Jet Set Radio Future.

  • Davorbasic

    Yay

  • https://twitter.com/LeFORCIER Marks

    >Spring
    Noooooo that’s too soon

  • ReidHershel

    Everyone.please.buy.this.
It’s cheap, a good remaster, physical and comes with all the DLC, there really isn’t a reason not to.
Also for people who are annoyed that the Azure Revolution demo isn’t coming over, the demo is only for Japanese fans for testing (kinda like Episode Duscae but a lot more earlier on), and they probably don’t want to localize a demo for a game they aren’t a 100% positive they’ll localize either.
    Still, get.this.game.

    • Backlog10121

Well they havent actually said no to the demo “yet”, so I’ll hold out hope… but still YES :D

      • ReidHershel

I’m just saying for the demo so everyone get’s their hopes up for nothing, but if they do, I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

        • Backlog10121

          Ah, gotcha, I understand!

    • Taiga Aisaka

i’m seriously bummed out they decided not to include the demo for the west release. i probably wont buy it ;( sigh

    • Richard Miller

I already bought this for my PC so I did my part. If this sells well on the PS4 too then Sega will have no excuse not to release
Valkyria: Azure Revolution on PC and PS4 in the west.

      • Zatekuyo

No i honestly believe that they are gonna do this for PS4 only, that’s what they originally chosen for PS3 original period.

PC is it’s league on it’s own platform so we’re not counting it here.

        • Richard Miller

Well either way both the PC and PS4 sells show Sega that the west loves valkyria chronicles.

    • Delicious Fried Chocobo

This so much perfect reasoning why demo isn’t with the remaster in the west.

    • Raphael Cuyugan

Well, the demo is like a beta so I don’t blame ’em.

  • Backlog10121

And only 30 bucks!? Looks at SE, Sony (least they did good with GR), and MANY other publishers… THIS is how you price a single game remaster from last gen ;)

    Will git :3

    • z_merquise

How’s the pricing from other HD remaster?

      • Backlog10121

There’ve been a bunch of last gen remasters going for 60 bucks with literally no improvements outside of “slightly” shinier graphics XD

        • z_merquise

Damn. I hope more remasters can be like Odin Sphere, you know. New content and everything plus including the original game with shiny, higher resolution.

As for Valkyria, I really, really wish that this will do well. I don’t want Azure Revolution to end up unlocalized just like Valkyria Chronicles 3.

          • Backlog10121

Yeah…all we can do is hope on that part… this IS still Sega after all… its easy to release a remaster no “real” work has to be done, still dont know if I want to even place any kind of hope on Azure getting localized t-t

  • Linkmstr

    Pre-orders aren’t up yet… ;m;

  • Twinblades

Missed out on allot PS3 stuff. Definitely gonna pick this up and show my support!

    • XaviIniesta

      This is a great rpg.

  • Elvick

    Wow, I’ll be buying.

    Bravo Sega, you surprised me.

  • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

    Whoa, okay. I’m buying it.

  • Richard Miller

I am happy that PS4 owners can finally play the updated PC version released last year on their platform of choice but why not release it on the xbone too? They could make more money.

    • mrgrgr!

certification to xbox/number of minimum printing/advertisement etc

    • Cavern

This might be different from the PC version.

      • Richard Miller

From the looks of it their is no difference but who knows.

        • Cavern

The problem is youtube makes it tough to see a difference. So I was skeptical. It was the screenshots someone posted that convinced me there might be validity to this.

          • Richard Miller

I guess will will have to wait and see but either way this is good for PS4 owners.

      • UMR-10

        I highly doubt it….

        • Cavern

The only exclusive improvement seems to be they redid all the cut scenes. They apparently improved the shading and altered the 3D models and colors. That is the only info I was able to find so far.

    • Zatekuyo

Dude, can’t you tell that Xbox One is still not doing very hot in Japan regardless of Japanese games that tried to support it? Wnd what’s the result? Most of them got flopped, and that’s what Sega should avoid that, knowing that it’ll clash horribly sales wise.

So i suggest that we should leave that be and move on from here.

      • Richard Miller

PC does horribly in Japan too that’s why I’m talking about in the west. Their is no reason why this game shouldn’t be on the Xbox One in the west as well. The only reason I can’t think of is favoritism.

        • Zatekuyo

That’s a different platform from here, and seriously this system (Referring to Xbox One) in America is still not supportive for Eastern RPGs outside of said Japan even if it sells better, only maybe Western RPGs and I think Shooters like Gears of War for Xbox and others.

No question about it, and it isn’t favoritism, it’s the choice and it’s their decision to do so, not yours, nor mine, and that’s final.

          • Richard Miller

You still didn’t really give a good reason why it shouldn’t come to Xbone as well. If games like Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 come to Xbone then any Eastern RPGs can. Really with the PS4 and XB1 having PC architecture they all should be sharing most multiplats. It makes no sense not to.

            • Zatekuyo

I don’t give a dang, and the reasons you have just lost it’s own meaning for me.

Final Fantasy XV i am ok with that, Kingdom Hearts III on Xbox One, let’s face it, it’ll have inferior sales compared to PS4’s no arguments here.

              • Richard Miller

It doesn’t matter if it don’t sale as much as the PS4 version as it gives more people the ability to play these games on their platform of choice and it was still make these companies more money. If we went by your logic games should only come out for PC as games sell better on PC than consoles. More freedom and choice for the gamers is always a good thing.

                • Zatekuyo

Exactly, and like I said I don’t give a dang.

  • z_merquise

It feels like the sales of this HD remaster outside Japan will gauge if they will localize Azure Revolution or not.

But I read that the PC version of Valkyria Chronicles sold really well. So yeah, I hope this will do well.

    • DrForbidden

I doubt that the remaster of an old PS3 game is of any utility or accuracy in gauging potential interest in a new one, especially if one is a spin-off from a different genre with no relation to the stories of previous games. Companies just like to bullshit us into buying.

      • z_merquise

It happened to Capcom (Darkstalkers HD), it happened to Konami (Zone of the Enders HD) and I still have doubt with Sega especially how they handle localizations in the past.

I wish to be proven wrong on this. All I want is to Sega learn from their past mistakes regarding their localization of their Japanese games.

        • DrForbidden

Yes, but don’t you see? A new Darkstalkers game will still be a fighting game. A new ZoE will still be a mecha action game.

What Sega is doing, if they ARE in fact doing it, that is, is using the sales of a turn-based, squad-based tactical RPG to predict the interest in a real-time action JRPG. They’re literally comparing apples to oranges.

  • CEO Kaz Hirai

    Triple dipping!

  • Budgiecat

    ah no demo with it

    of course Sega…..of course….

    • Richard Miller

I’m sure it will come later.

      • Budgiecat

just like Valkyria Chronicles 3, PSO2, PS Nova and Shining Resonance right?

        • WellEndowedPenguin

VC3 is awesome, been playing the fan translation on ppsspp.

          • Darak

for real it’s just so good, I’ve been playing it on my vita

          • Budgiecat

yeah thats pretty much the only choice we got lol

    • Wolf Star

Because the new azure game (I already forgot the name) wasn’t annouced for west in the first place :P plus I think they are testing us if we like valkeria chronicles :3 love it people!! Love it.

      • Budgiecat

        thats some hostage bullshit.

Plus, devs have released demos to the West before with no announce dates.
If Sega wants to bounce back from their failures they need to think more global minded.
They were original a Western company to begin with lol

Also this shoulda been bundled with an HD copy of VC3 (and maybe VC2 just from completion sakes lulz)

        • Wolf Star

          VC3 would be nice :)

        • kthanxyousuck

No company has ever released a demo of a game not announced for localization. What are you talking about cat?

A release date sure, but “oh here goes the demo to a game you might never see, enjoy!”

          • Budgiecat

This Azure game should of been announced globally though; no reason for it not to.
Just proof Sega still has their head up their ass so Im not convinced they’ve changed their ways..

      • DrForbidden

You know what other way there is for Sega to test whether western gamers want Azure Revolution or not instead of relying on the sales of an old PS3 game that’s related in name only?

  • Kattaro

I hope that the steel box edition will also be available in Europe, if not then it’s import time.

  • Mirikku

    Nice. Definitely gonna buy this.

  • OldManObelisk

Lovely. Will finally see the hype behind this game.

  • UMR-10

    -No Azure demo
-Carbon copy of the PC version
-30$ when you can get it cheaper

I might get it just for the limited edition and Azure localization, but i can’t say i’m happy.

    • Luna Kazemaru

      > expecting azure demo

      lol

    • DrForbidden

I get what you’re trying to say, but technically this $30 release is the only version for PS4, even though, yes, you can get it cheaper for PS3 and/or PC.

  • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’ll give you some credit Sega in the west, you did a good job here. Now, let’s build on this and make 2016 the year Sega starts an epic return to form.

    • Raphael Cuyugan

Yeah! More JRPGs SEGA! VC3, Azure Revolution and Shining Resonance too!

      • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

        Resonance definitely ain’t showing up.

But maybe there’s hope for AR.

        • Delicious Fried Chocobo

yeah because SR is ps3 only, slowly losing hope on it same for psnova which is vita only…. both are great games but mediocre story but shines everywhere else(character, music chara model(casual battle; SR) SR could work if it got a ps4 ver but recent shining game never get port, same for PSnova.

    • SprintsMcGee

I mean, as soon as Sega started to localize the Hatsune Miku games they started coming back into my good graces.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

That’s great my friend. I’m not going to try and ignore that, which is a good thing. With that said, this is still a far cry from the Sega I grew up loving.

I want to see them make an attempt to appeal to a global audience again, to utilize Atlus, along with other strong dormant franchises and earn back the respect and love from long time fans like me.

I know, that’s likely asking quite a bit. Still, they have said some good things lately, done a few good things. If they really try they can do it.

Look at Square-Enix. Reviving older franchises, making great collaborations, trying to appeal to a global audience.

If they can do it Sega can.

        • Budgiecat

Enix needs to revive some of their old IPs

literally ALL they do is Dragon Quest

          • Unretributed

Yes, we need Jesus! Next year will make 30 years since it released….

And then he arose on the 3rd…. decade lol

            http://www.unikgamer.com/covers/jesus-kyoufu-no-bio-monster-9355.jpg

            • Budgiecat

              so man Enix titles….

              Jesus
              Dark Half
              Burning Heroes
              Act Raiser
              Soul Blazer
              Brain Lord
              Illusion of Gaia
              Robotrek
              Terranigma
              The Violinist of Hameln
              Mystic Ark
              Wonder Project J
              Mahojin GuruGuru
              Bust a Groove
              Robot Alchemic Drive
              Blade Arts
              Valkyrie Profile
              Just Breed

      • Budgiecat

        hardly a justification

        • SprintsMcGee

I said they started to. I never said they were out of the woods.

    • UMR-10

I hope they bring the rest of the Yakuza games. Specially Yakuza 6.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Yeah. I’d love to play them all on my PS4 as well. Even if some of those PS3 versions are just ports. I’d take it.

I still have my PS3, and if need be I’ll support the series and do my best to play them on multiple platforms, but it would be nice to have them all on one.

        • Raphael Cuyugan

I wish we’d get the Vita Companion app for Yakuza 0 as well.

          • Budgiecat

yeah I still have that on my Vita (along with Black Panther 2)

      • Archvile

I hope so too! While i’m sure it’s mainly due to Sony’s third party production i’m happy we’re getting Yakuza 0 only a little over a year after it came out in Japan, unlike 5 that got localized 3 years later!

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/TheViledinner?feature=mhee Evil Ascendant

It’s always nice to see a company swing back into the good graces of people, if only a little bit.

But like you said, here’s hoping that they keep on the path that rocks :)

    • Raphael Cuyugan

There’s hope though for Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Ignition to come as well!

      • Budgiecat

literally dont care about that game

Now if a Virtua Fighter 6 was announced….

        • DrForbidden

I suspect that Sega quietly murdered that franchise and buried it out in the woods.

          • Budgiecat

            sad if true

            • DrForbidden

VF5 premiered in arcades in 2006. That’s 10 years ago. 5FS was released in 2010. Fighting game franchises that don’t see any sort of new action for over 5 years are very likely to lose their players. The DOA crossover was likely meant to generate interest and keep the characters in the public eye, but I don’t know how successful that is if Sega doesn’t release a new game.

VF is my favourite franchise, so it’s really sad and disheartening to see Sega do this.

              • Budgiecat

I’ll blame you if its true

        • Tetsu

Virtua Fighter 6 would be my number one most wanted fighting game, after Street Fighter Alpha 4 on Xrd engine with 56 characters.

  • charage

Now if only sega stopped being assholes and localized phantasy star nova

  • Phoenix

Their website says it’s available to pre-order on VGP.ca but I don’t find it x(

  • DarthBrian

    Yay! We did it!!!

  • Archvile

I always wanted to play this game on PS3 but never got around to it, this time i won’t miss out on it. :3

  • commodorewheeler

Wow that Canadian dollar is really taking a beating. Seems like not that long ago it was worth more than the US dollar.

Definite preorder for me. Good price, and I never finished the original PS3 version. With trophies, DLC, and possibly Azure around the corner, I’ll be more motivated to finish this version.

    • Archvile

Lol yeah, our dollar’s pretty bad. u.u
I remember a few years ago, games in Canada only costed 59,99$, now retail games cost like 79,99$. (like Battlefront for example)

      • Luna Kazemaru

I hope things get better for you guys :/

        • Archvile

It seems to get worst tbh, about 2 years ago games were at 69,99. At this rate games will cost 100$ in a few years heh.

          • Elvick

Yeah, I swear every other month or so we reach a new milestone of how worthless the dollar has become. May as well switch our currency to leaves.

            • DrForbidden

Let me guess, the leaf currency would be called ‘The Canadian Maple’, right?. :D

    • Raphael Cuyugan

Blame Harper for making the economy depend on the oilsands.

  • Delicious Fried Chocobo

Well they don’t have anything new to translate so thats why it releases so soon apparently… oh well atleast its coming (again).

As for demo… its not neccessary atm, it can wait and would take time translating which would mean delay the remaster.

  • ayanami-chan

Will it come with the demo in the US?

    • Unretributed

      Yes

    • DrForbidden

Nope. Sega doesn’t care about the opinion of english-speaking gamers.

    • TwinBuns

It doesn’t make any sense for it to come with a demo for a game that hasn’t been announced for the US.

  • comfortablecoffin

This is such a useless remaster but that steelbook is gorgeous and I might buy the game just for it.

    • Sunny11

      How is it useless?

    • Unretributed

      ……what?

  • donkey3

So it is 1080p/60fps. I asked the difference in Gematsu and two ppl told me it will be just better resolution with trophy support (unless the PS3 ver. was 60 fps in the first place, they were wrong). Day one for me. I have Amazon prime, so I’ll be getting that 20% discount.

  • Satoshi Ookami

Oh you, SEGA, we all knew it was going to happen :P

  • Cyberjin

where I can pre-order? especially in europe

  • MadaoDeeDee

Sega didn’t disappoint this time :) Love the steel case, will definitely preorder.

  • LIGER-X

Why tell us we can pre-order it now if none of the website that they listed to pre-order are not even listed? Have anyone found it yet?

    • Raphael Cuyugan

Well, the site just went up so expect it within a few days.

      • LIGER-X

They stated we can pre-order now, when game/edition are announced that’s when it’s alright because they never stated it was available to pre-order.

        • Unretributed

          ….What?

    • Elvick

It shows sites at the bottom, just nothing is linked so I don’t think it’s in any databases yet.

  • Daniel Guerrero

No demo its fine but i only hope they release the game westside. Just playing it last night along with VC2 now all i wait for VC3 on either PS4 or Vita pls Sega.

    • Raphael Cuyugan

Well, the demo is more likely a beta for the developers in Japan to see if any improvements should be made with the game itself.

      • Daniel Guerrero

Yeah maybe but all i care is the game after since I rarely play any demo at all

  • Elvick

I didn’t really notice before… but that art on the box/case is ugly as hell. :(

    • Unretributed

Are we looking at the same thing or are your eyes broken?

      • Elvick

It’s ugly. Your eyes be broke.

        • Unretributed

No, you’re ugly, your eyes are broken, and you’re a poopy head!

          • kiri25

A difference in opinion is all this is. I personally like the steel book but I can understand if some do not. This does not mean anyone’s eyes are broken b/c they disagree.

            • Unretributed

Your sense of humor is broken. Go get it fixed.

  • Darak

I already have my ps3 copy right here, maybe I’ll buy this when it’s crazy cheap

    • Sunny11

Bruh $30 is already cheap, sell your ps3 copy and its even less

  • Raphael Cuyugan

SEGA just changed their cover photos on Facebook and Twitter with these. HYPE!

    • Sunny11

Glad they’re advertising it, seems there’s so less hype on it :/

    • Zackasaur

      Good!

  • Cael

I see no point in getting this without the demo.

    • Unretributed

      What?

      • Cael

I see no point in getting this for the PS4 when I already have it for the PS3, if it doesn’t include the Azure Revolution demo here in the west.

  • kthanxyousuck

That Canadian price is a damn shame.

    • Zackasaur

      30 US dollars = 42.70 Canadian dollars.

So 45 Canadian dollars is 31.61 US dollars.

Canada is being charged very slightly more. But, indeed, it’s not 100% equal. They probably didn’t want to charge some weird amount like $42.70, though.

  • Speedo Redempteur

    VERY GOOD.

I have the PS3 version , the PC version ..i guess i’ll get THE PS4 version too ..

Physical edition on PS4 for me..
Now sega , please annonce the other Valkyria game and you’ll do good for the world

    • Budgiecat

they need to knock that shit off with their galapagos business mentality especially with the shrinking Japanese console game buyer market there and the increase of mainstream acceptance in gaming the rest of the world….smh

      • Speedo Redempteur

        WAT

what kind of opinion are you trying to convey , here ? i’m legit lost

        • Budgiecat

When Sega announces a SONIC game, do they announce if Japan only? No lol
So why should it be any different for their other IP’s? When the worlds population exceeds Japan by billions?

          • Speedo Redempteur

Yeah let’s compare any other sega IP to sonic

Sega localisation system is in the dark edges but who besides square-enix can annonce big games like this world wide ?

            You’re asking for too much.

            • Budgiecat

the point is it shouldnt be

        • Articuno76

He’s saying that it makes no sense for Sega to have a Japan-centric outlook when we are seeing a growth in the home console videogame industry everywhere but Japan.

He’s saying that Sega needs to consider the big picture, not just the isolated situation in a small cluster of islands (Japan being the cluster of islands).

  • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

Then if people buy this, we can get 3 (the best game) and possibly a remaster for that, and then Azure Revolution…
Everyone. Buy this game like hotcakes.

    • Budgiecat

There’s no confirmation or guarantee like that when it comes to Sega…

      • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

        Hopes are high
        >Even if it’s SEGA
        -Expect for Sonic smh

      • Veleskola

You’d be a fool to think Sega isn’t going to bring it over the west. It’s a fucking PS4 game.
Valkyria Chronicles III was a sequel to a game hardly anyone bought and was on a console that had a huge piracy issue.
Shining Resonance was a new game in a dead series in the west. No wonder they didn’t localize it.
Phantasy Star Nova is a Vita game, which is very niche so I can see why they’d decide against localizing it.
Yakuza is finally making a resurgence with help from Sony.
Sega has also taken risks with Hatsune Miku games in the west.

The only thing Sega has fucked up in recent years in PSO 2. God knows what the fuck they’re doing with that and deserve all the hate and criticism for that.
        But just that.

Blue Revolution is spin-off in the Valkyria series and it’s coming to the PS4. It’s an RPG on the PS4.
RPGs are making a resurgence on consoles.
There’s literally no reason for it to not get localised.
So quit being a debbie downer.

        • Budgiecat

you could make the same arguments for Namco’s Digimon Cyber Sleuth, and Gundam Extreme VS Force, as well as Sega’s Dengeki Bunko (A PS3 game localized last year no less), but hey those made it over so…

Cant say not assuming Sega wont bring a game over ‘because its a PS4 game’ isn’t ‘foolish’ given Sega’s lackluster track record.
Blade Arcus is a PS4 game. So is Yakuza Ishin. Where are they?

If Valkyria Chronicles was a “game hardly anyone bought” then what the hell is the purpose of making a PC version and then a PS4 remaster?? lol

Shining Resonance….yeah the last Shining game in the West was EXA, a PS2 game. That still means nothing since the games are for the most part stand alone in each entry (save for some of those PSP ones)

Hatsune Miku is hardly a “risk” when the IP has sold out concerts outside Japan…-_-

Yakuza shoulda never needed a ‘resurgence’ in the West if Sega didnt have their head up their ass. We can thank Sony for pushing their head out their ass and realizing…

I dont see how Nova is “niche” if it belongs to the Phantasy Star IP and people have been asking for it along with PSO2

Not to mention Sega giving up on Bayonetta 2 only until Nintendo had to save it.

Those were some pretty weak excuses you made

and where the hell is Shenmue HD Collection and Virtua Fighter 6??

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. This is Sega we are talking about.

  • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

    My reaction

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/TheViledinner?feature=mhee Evil Ascendant

Hmm, might get this. Seems like a series which is worth getting into.

  • Lancer205

Neat box, I will support the game day 1.

  • Zackasaur

    Physical.
    Localised.
    Steelbook.
    Only $30.

Holy shit, Sega. YOU DID IT!

    *instantly pre-orders*

  • bloodiOS

Spring 2016, eh? Then I’ll expect it to arrive sometimes between the 1st and the 19th of June. But anyway, confirmed 1080p60 with a limited edition physical copy and only for $29.99? Day fucking one!

    • MTK

Don’t forget all the dlc and trophy support.

      • bloodiOS

Eh, I personally don’t care about trophy support. As for the DLC, I had already bought them all for the PS3 version, so it’s not like there’s anything new to look forward to. At the same time, it simply is bad form to not include the DLC, so it’s something I already expected them to be there anyway.

    • youngsexynerd

$24 for Best Buy customers :) (Gamer Rewards Program)

  • Raphael Cuyugan

That double dip, triple dip HYPE!

  • Jack

Some people around here seem to be upset that it doesn’t come with the Azure demo like the Japanese version and here I’m like, “wait… the Japanese version comes with a demo? I’m just happy we’re getting the remaster and physical at that, lol”

    • MTK

You know how it is these days with people.

      • DrForbidden

Why shouldn’t they want the demo?

    • NanaMiku

I already double dip this game with PS3 version and the PC version. So I expect I got some bonus for the triple dip.

    • TheOneandOnlyGamer

Amen. Sega is on the move finally. I’ll take it.

  • PuppetMaster

    I’m triple dip this!

  • http://dragonsmana.deviantart.com/ Phillip Campana

    Physical! Count me in!

  • jamaicandj

Pre-order day 1 rare we get 1080p and 60 fps thank you sega you can do awesome things when you try believe in yourself!

  • jamaicandj

Anyone know if it’s on amazon yet?

    • SprintsMcGee

It’s not. I’ve hitting refresh every 10 or so minutes for the last 6 hours…it’s not been a very productive day for me

    • TheOneandOnlyGamer

Not yet, not on amazon or gamestop. I’m waiting just as everyone though.

      • youngsexynerd

        Nor Best Buy…..

  • Fire.fire.kun

I may just buy this if it means we can get a HD remaster of 2 & 3. That way we have something to be hyped about until we can get a possible VC4.

    • Zatekuyo

Yup, with an upgraded CANVAS engine in HD, this is something they can do it remasterize both Valkyria Chronicles II & Valkyria Chronicles III, with every contents that was once made both here and as a stand-alone, now melded into one, especially the multiplayer which it they should be both local and online to go with that.

And after that they should give it a shot to make Valkyria Chronicles IV, knowing that PS4 had supreme support in RPGs and others.

      • Fire.fire.kun

Ah you’re reading my mind! :3

  • miniwar monger

Good they inculded a memorable storyline instead of a storyline.

  • youngsexynerd

O_O only 30 bucks with a Steel Case!!! Awesome. But you know whats not awesome… Gematsu’s crazy adds wich are completely screwing my computer up and slowing it down…..

    • oldgameswerebetter

      2016…get a damn addblock

like seriusly, people still ignore the existece of addblocks?

      • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

This news content on this site is run by a single person. If you like what we do here and want to see it continue, I’d appreciate it if you could add us to your whitelist.

        • oldgameswerebetter

if you can grant me that the adds on your site are 100% virus-free then i could do it, not that i don’t thrust your site but i don’t thrust the adds

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Email me about them at contact a mod, provide details and even pictures if there is a troublesome set of ad’s. I can let Sal know about them.

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

If you can send me screenshots of specific ads and stuff (editor[at]gematsu[dot]com), I can get it taken care of. I don’t want ads on the site that harm the reader’s experience. :3

      • DrForbidden

I’ve found the ads on Gematsu to be largely unobtrusive, but recently, there seems to be an increasing number of ‘roll over ads’. There’s one in the upper right corner, right under the header (currently for me it’s an ad for Open Season). When my cursor stops over that ad for half a second, even if I’m just scrolling or my cursor is simply passing through, it opens a pop-up ad window. That’s annoying. Other than that, I think the ads are fine.

  • SoloKazama

I got it for ps3 and PC; PS4 ver is basically same as PC right?

    • Zatekuyo

Yup, only this time you have all of the contents that was previously added on said PS3 & PC, which makes the experience alot more worthwhile.

  • chroma816

For 30 bucks and a steel case, it’s not all that bad of a deal.

I wasn’t going to buy it at all if it was full price, but half seems about right.

  • Daniel Guerrero

Everyone get VC and if it sells well;we’ll definitely get Azure for sure(maybe even VC3). Let’s speak with the wallet instead of on whining about not getting the demo. Game>demo. So please buy VC and if you haven’t played it ever its a great game so support this game. You’ll have a great time.

    • Some guy

Reminds me of darkstalker, we’re not getting a sequel because we didn’t buy the 5th remaster of the game.
The ps3 and PC version sales already proved our interest, nothing we do will change SEGA’s way of taking absurd decisions.
Or we just ask our PC friend for a petition.

  • SprintsMcGee

12 Hours later and the preorders are still not up =/

    • Mike

I checked gamestop where i will be getting it and they’re still not up starting to irritate me.

  • DavidCage

I stick to my pc version since it already HD.. LoL

  • Zatekuyo

That’s what i call giving the game a immensive boost in remasterization by re-rendering from CANVAS engine that they still have in hd 1080p & 60fps, great on ya Media Vision and Sega.

    • Raphael Cuyugan

Well this one wasn’t developed by Media Vision. It was developed by Sega internally.

      • Zatekuyo

Huh ok, that’s actually a great point, i mean yeah they do develop games from time to time, but at the most parts they let their team do the developing part.

        • Raphael Cuyugan

I guess you’re talking about Valkyria Chronicles 3.

          • Zatekuyo

            Bingo!

  • SMTGamer

Finally I can play this game! Yay!!!

  • DrForbidden

As a collector of steelbooks and a VC fan, I’m totally good with this pricing and release, though I’m disappointed there won’t be a demo for AR.

  • Dystopiq

Good good. VC is a great SRPG and everyone should try it.

  • LIGER-X

Hey guys I came to update the Canadians Amazon.ca still hasn’t listed it but VGP (Video Game Plus) has their pre-orders up and I’ll leave the link down below 🙂
Still no update for Americans 😥 But ill in form you guys if i find it at Amazon.com or GameStop

    https://www.videogamesplus.ca/valkyria-chronicles-remastered-ps4-p-23716.html

  • HulkSmash

Amazing game. Glad it’s coming to PS4. Now I have an excuse to buy one.
