Nippon Ichi Software has released first details and screenshots of its newly announced PS Vita game Rose and the Old Castle of Twilight from htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary director Masayuki Furuya.

Rose and the Old Castle of Twilight sees its protagonist, a young girl named Rose, wake up in a ruined castle. Having lost both its “color” and “time,” it became a ruin known as “the Old Castle of Twilight.” As Rose, who receives help from a mysterious Giant, players must attempt to escape the castle.

In a collapsed dungeon, two awaken.

A girl carrying cursed thorny shrubs on her back named Rose.
And a round, big, and swirly, mysteriously powerful giant.

An old castle cursed with thorny shrubs, where time is lost. It is covered in thorny shrubs all around, and many places have collapsed. All the mysteries of the old castle, including Rose, the giant, and the thorns, will become clear as you play.
Thorn Power
Rose’s power. It absorbs the blood power of things that possess it, and you can move the blood to other objects. Those who have lost the power of blood (those without color) have also lost the time and are thus at a standstill.

Rose
A girl who was awakens after being unconscious in a collapsed dungeon. She has cursed thorny shrubs growing on her back.
Normally, she lives in the monastery. She wants to escape the dangerous old castle and return home.
However, it seems it is no small fate that Rose and the old castle meet, and the past is leading Rose to a cruel destiny.
Giant
A giant who was asleep in the old castle. Rose revived him from a place jutting out of the collapsed wall.
His face is a swirl, and you don’t know what’s on his mind, but he becomes Rose’s ally. Surely, he appears to have a kind heart.
He seems to have been made during a considerably old generation. His touch is gentle. He is a creature of many mysteries.

The first thing you’ll notice is that you’re in a castle without “time” (color)—
Rose and the Old Castle of Twilight is an action game where you’ll clear stages. The protagonist, Rose, wakes up in a castle that has lost its time and color. The player, carrying Rose, will manipulate blood and time using her “thorn power,” and make use of the giant with superhuman strength who she encounters along the way to escape the old castle.
■ System: Rose’s Power
Thorn Power
This is Rose’s power that lets her absorb blood power and transfer it to other things. In the old castle, only those with blood power (red things) are moving in time, and those without blood power have stopped in time. If you give blood to those without blood power, they’ll regain time. By understanding this mechanic and manipulating the time of things, you’ll advance through the game’s stages.
Superhuman Strength
The Giant can use his superhuman strength to carry and throw colored things. His large physique will also help you get past obstacles.
