Square Enix investigating other distribution method.

Rise of Mana

Rise of Mana, Square Enix’s free-to-play RPG for smartphones and PS Vita, will end service on March 31 in Japan, the company announced.

Square Enix cites a lack of balance between development and capital during the game’s prolonged management, adding that after consultation within the company, it decided that it would not be able to deliver satisfactory content to users in the future.

While service is ending as a free-to-play title, Square Enix said it is investigating whether it can deliver the game in a different form.

Just turn it into a full fledged single-player, retail game for portables and everyone’s happy !!!

  • ghosthunter117

Put it on 3DS or Vita?

    • Mozendo

      it is on vita

      • ghosthunter117

        Clearly it helped

        • C4

It did, it just doesn’t have legs.

  • Infasis

Well that lasted long. Just release the game like a normal person. I hope it lost them money. I’m tired of this crap.

    • quodvadis

They will simply release dumbersimpler games since that’s what sell the best on mobile. The situation is just sad all around.

  • Zackasaur

Hopefully they can deliver the game in a different form.

And then physically localise it for Vita.

    • Budgiecat

maybe thats what they shoulda done from the start (with better production values).

      shocking concept lol

      • Zackasaur

        True that.

  • JonathanisPrimus

Looks like Adventures of Mana will get new info tomorrow:

  • An Tran

Just release it as a “premium” game.

  • Elvick

Just remove the “service” shit and sell it as a full game.

How many times are companies going to create F2P games that require a connection, and then end up closing that shit within a few years before they realize they should just sell their damn games regularly?

    • Budgiecat

      they never learn….

even that FF VII G-Bike is delisted lol

      • Ferrick

wait, that game is gone too?

        • Elle

          Yep

        • Budgiecat

          yeah

Mobius Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius still works…

I feel like FF Brave Exvius is wasted on mobile. The characters (Rain, Lasswell and Fina) looked interesting enough to be used for a mainline FF. Oh well…

          • Ferrick

could’ve been made a big FF crossover story like dissidia or XIV, but oh well

      • CyberWolf

You rekkon g bike will be brought here?

        • Budgiecat

          no

          • CyberWolf

            That is a shame….
Is it possible to get the game to work offline?

            • Budgiecat

no its a DRM only game

              • CyberWolf

I see, well If I was a genius then we would be able to play the game…
Why did it had to end?

                • Budgiecat

because it wasnt making any money off its microtrashactions and people got bored of its repetitiveness? My guess…

Japanese mobile game companies are merging, consolidating and closing games left and right.

    • Budgiecat

      and pachinko is in toruboru

  • Renaldi Saputra

I think that this game is more suitable for normal gaming than F2P online

Aren’t they releasing this here in like a month or so? Guess not anymore x3

    • C4

      That’s Adventures of Mana.

  • Elle

    Tragic

  • Suraimu

Any free to play game being killed is good news in my book.

  • Richard Miller

Good now can you make a real game and not a free to play one?

  • meg

hopefully they will localise it for Vita

  • The Grim Heaper

People here get so salty over F2P or mobile.

    • JonathanisPrimus

      I wonder why.

  • KazeJoestar

Square should definitely rework it into a full game. Would gladly play a new Mana game. Though I will forever be saddened by the change in artstyle from Legend of Mana and Sword of Mana.

  • Hikari Langley

They just should just do a full game with free DLC, to any content they need to add.

  • r4ind4nce

Made into a proper game this would be a great companion to Adventures of Mana…
IF that ever came here. Let’s hope. They did say they were at least investigating bringing it here in another form…

  • Zatekuyo

Meaning they should rework this game in it’s original state on PlayStation Vita on physical release only.
