Play the demo on PlayStation 4, PS3, or PS Vita.

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir

A demo for Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan.

The PlayStation 4 demo weighs in at 442 MB, the PlayStation 3 version at 423 MB, and the PS Vita version at 250 MB.

As previously detailed, you’ll be able to play all five characters through an action stage selected and configured for the demo and battle the boss “Belial.” There won’t be any story parts, so you won’t be able to use the demo save data for the full game.

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita on January 14 in Japan and spring 2016 in North America.

well a demo is a demo

    we need more demos

  • http://reviews2go.com/ Trent Berlinger

The demo up already is awesome. If anyone doesn’t mind (for compatibility list sake!) has anyone playing the Vita version of the demo know if it launches on the PSTV/VitaTV?

    Please and Thank You ^^

  • Zackasaur

    I should download this.

  • Bon Babab

Only 442MB on PS4? Is this even real life at this point? That’s got to be 44,2GB, right?

    • quodvadis

      It’s a 2D game.

      • Devtek

        Its a demo…

  • Limbless

Decent demo. The fairy, red chick and especially armoured guy seem WAY better than the other two, though.

    • quodvadis

Rather to do with your play style.

  • vashe9

Is it possible to download it via an european ps4
console ? I’ll have to create a psn account on japanese PSN ?

    • quodvadis

Yes and yes. You can make all region accounts in one PS4, having them coexisting and switching at will.

      • Vashe

Yeah it was easy to make one. I’ve downloaded Neptunia VII demo too x)

  • Lara Croft

Demos are like a dying species in video games atm.

    • Tetsu

Most developers don’t make them anymore because they are scared it will lose their sales.
If they have a great demo, it will bring in sales.
All the half-assing nowadays is annoying

    • Seigi no Mikata

Devs can share footage, now, and that must be way cheaper.

  • Forty

Nice, definitely gonna give this a download.

  • Pheonix03

An incredible demo! At this point I shouldn’t be surprised, but Vanillaware’s amazing skill at creating not only incredible visuals but immensely satisfying gameplay never ceases to amaze me. The gameplay in Leifthrasir is so fun and in-depth (way beyond what was in the original game)! I can’t wait to dive deep into all the systems in the full game.

Heh, my game of the year in 2007 may be my game of the year all over again 9 years later.

  • frubam

Any word on that 8-bit incarnation from November?

  • Tracy

It looks pretty playing the demo on the PS4!

  • LordKaiser

I need to recover my JP account.

    • PersonaBull

I ended up making a new one, glad I hadn’t bought anything but demos on my old one during the PS3 days. Really tempted to not wait two weeks to get my imported Vita copy and just get myself a PSN Yen code for a PS4 download…

      • LordKaiser

I may have to do the same since I also haven’t bought nothing but I may lose the opportunity to download the Tales of Vesperia’s demo again unless that is still on the PSN.

  • KiddyCorky

All that PS4 footage but no footage for Vita.

    • Seigi no Mikata

Maybe because the game doesn’t change that much?

      • KiddyCorky

It’s not change I’m looking for. It’s comparison.

        • Seigi no Mikata

Well, I can spoil you this comparison:
          PS4: 1080p 60fps
          PSV: 544p 30fps

          • KiddyCorky

Well I’m down with 30 as long as it’s constantly stable.

            • Seigi no Mikata

You can guess it’s not going to be like Yoru no Nai Kuni.
It’s Vanillaware, after all. I tried psv demo, it’s ok.

              • KiddyCorky

I was thinking along the lines of Dragon’s Crown. But I managed to see someone play the Vita version of the demo albeit the recording itself was laggy at times but I’m pretty satisfied. I’d buy the PS3 version but I feel comfortable with portability.

          • I am gundam

            i thought it was 60

            • Sadaharu

I doubt any game is necessary to run at 60 on the vita though. On such a tiny screen even 30fps will have reasonably small frame-to-frame difference, therefore will make 30fps look smooth compared to say on a 27-in monitor.

              • I am gundam

doa 5 on vita is 60 but i cant see the difference i think ur right

  • Seigi no Mikata

Now I’ve played it I’ll have to buy it T_T
    It was good, tho T_T

  • Sadaharu

Like the smoothness and wonderful graphics! Just wished that the animations were done at 60fps though, kinda look odd when the scenery is at 60 while animation at 30.

Praise Japanese people for taking time and making working demos! Earlier I was trying to play Far Cry4’s demo and after 10 minutes I was not even able to enter a functional game.

  • Quad Vesper

the reason im interested this game the art feel like tree of saviour that i play in close beta and ragnarok online.. of course i must have the game… its look really cool

    • Razuberyl

Well, boy, you won’t regret anything when you play the game for the first time, then you’ll know what Vanillaware is…

      • Quad Vesper

gonna import the game…. glad vita can play any game from any region…

        • Razuberyl

Glad that SONY doesn’t do region block :P like Nintendo or else…

  • Razuberyl

Anyone can tell if it does run at 1080@60 on PS3?

    • hirota39

This game even runs at 60 fps on vita…I downloaded both PS3&PS4 Demo, and can’t find any difference in graphics. My TV also displays 1080P input for PS3 version :)

      • Razuberyl

OMG you’ve gotta be kidding me!? THAT’S FREAKING NICE!! Thank you, pal! :3
