As previously detailed, Great Detective Pikachu is set in Rhyme City, where Pokemon and people live together. A young boy named Tim comes to this city to fulfill a certain purpose. Here, he meets Pikachu, and a new story begins.
Get the new information below.
The Pikachu that appears in this game is a Great Detective that can talk to Tim. He’s a little bossy and always pushy. He has a weakness for beautiful girls and urges Tim to invite interested women to tea.
He loves coffee and has a regular cafe he visits. He never stops talking about all the things he knows. Pikachu always walks on two feet, even in emergencies. And even when going at full speed, he’s pretty slow.
He can’t use any attacks or successfully discharge electricity, and doesn’t like being instructed.
He is a reliable Great Detective with skillful insight and calm judgment.

■ Playing the Game
Players become Tim, and can go around gathering evidence and information. At these times, working alongside Pikachu is essential.
First, get information.
You can explore every nook and cranny of the field with Pikachu. Tim can get information from people, while Pikachu can get information from Pokemon.
Gather the evidence.
It’s important to find the evidence in things and places. If you examine the right spots, you might discover things you didn’t originally notice.
Check the “Pikachu Sign.”
When Pikachu thinks he notices something, a “Pikachu Sign” will appear. Touch the sign to hear what Pikachu has to say. He might even give you a hint.
There will sometimes be cooperative actions between Tim and Pikachu, where you’ll need to press the button on the screen as directed. Depending on whether you succeed or fail, the behavior between the two will change. For example, Pikachu falls from a tree. If you press the A button on time, you’ll catch him. If you fail, Pikachu will fall on the ground. The story progresses even if you fail.
Use the evidence and testimonies you gathered to form a conclusion. Pikachu will follow along.
Great Detective Pikachu is due out exclusively via the Nintendo eShop in Japan on February 3 for 1,500 yen. If you buy it before midnight Japan time today, you can get it for 1,200 yen. Pre-loading is available now.
