Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is coming to PC via Steam this February, publisher Spike Chunsoft announced.

Here’s the rundown, via the game’s Steam page:

About

Hope’s Peak Academy is home to Japan’s best and brightest high school students—the beacons of hope for the future. But that hope suddenly dies when Makoto Naegi and his classmates find themselves imprisoned in the school, cut off from the outside world and subject to the whims of a strange, murderous little bear named Monokuma. He pits the students against each other, promising freedom to anyone who can murder a fellow classmate and get away with it.

It’s up to you to find out who Monokuma really is, and why you’ve been taken from the world you once knew. But be careful what you wish for—sometimes there’s nothing more deadly than the truth…

Key Features

  • Daily Life, Deadly Life: Trapped in a school-turned-prison, students are murdering each other one by one. You’ll have to investigate each incident, search for clues, and talk to your classmates to try and get to the bottom of each brutal case!
  • Mock Trial: The nefarious Monokuma serves as judge, jury, and executioner as you engage in deadly wordplay, going back and forth with suspects, dissecting their statements and firing their words back at them to expose their lies!
  • Popularity Contest: Sway classmates to your side in each investigation, squeezing information from them to figure out who did it. And when you do, turn up the heat in a variety of timing and reflex-based game systems to uncover the truth and save your skin!
  • Steam Features: Supports Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud with plans to add Steam Trading Cards.

Huh… I never actually played this one. I wonder if I should get it, then Stream it =3=

Danganronpa was pretty fun back on PSP days, so it would be nice to get back into it.

    • Harrason

“I never actually played this one”

“Danganronpa was pretty fun back on PSP days”

      Pick one only.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Uhhh… What? I only played it on PSP, like I said. I thought it was fun back then, so I’m willing to give Trigger Happy Havoc a try.

        • DesmaX

Trigger Happy Havok is the first game, tho

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Ohhh… Okay. At one point, I saw it was coming out on Vita, but I thought they were adding new features, an additional storyline, or something. I wasn’t aware that was just a subtitle NA added, lol.

See? This is why I hate when they do this! Well, I’ll get it anyway cause it will be nice to play it like a VN on my PC. Last time I played, I couldn’t do it for long since it would always hurt my neck from looking down at my PSP for so long.

            • Hours Left

The Vita version does have a new mode. I’m assuming this release will have it as well.

            • Dont-leave-us-Atlus

I actually think there were some additional features nothing major tho and I cant say for sure since i never played the psp version or I might be confusing the features of the 2nd game

            • Fenris Vánagandr

Yes, they added a School Mode that is like Island Mode from DR2.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Alright. I guess I’ll figure out soon enough then, lol.

        • planetofthemage

This is the first one. The English version added Trigger Happy Havoc as a subtitle.

        • Harrason

Trigger Happy Havoc is the very first Danganronpa game.

Unless you mean to say that you started with Danganronpa 2, you can only pick one of the choices, because they contradict each other.

          • DizzyGear

What Danganronpa 2? I only know a game called Goodbye Despair

            • Harrason

The full title is Danganronpa 2 : Goodbye Despair.

              • DizzyGear

                woosh

                • Harrason

If that was a joke, I am not even sure what kind of joke you were trying to make.

Or are you trying to tell me that this is just an attempt to irritate people?

      • Zack

I think he’s talking about the Japanese release, which was released on PSP. Trigger Happy Havoc, the EN version, was released only for Vita (and now PC).

        • Harrason

Hmm, if you ask me, even if the localizations are different, it’s effectively the same game. There may be patches and tweaks for the international version, but you can’t exactly say you’ve never actually “played” it.

  • gundam-meowth

Quite exciting news! Loved them on my Vita, happy my friends will be able to play it soon too.

  • OverlordZetta

    Jesus, that’s soon.

I wonder if we’ll look back on this stuff in 10 years and think “yeah, Sony killed handhelds.”

    • Klaudkil

Yes since you know a pc is soooo portable -_-

      • DesmaX

You could play this on a nvidia shield, I guess

      • Alexander Merchant

Laptops, windows tablets, “netbooks”, etc. There are a multitude of ways to make a PC portable if you want a portable PC.

That being said, I don’t necessarily believe it’s Sony and Sony alone that’s “killing” handhelds. If any ONE thing/person/whatever is to blame, it’s mobile gaming. And even then handheld gaming is still doing fine for now.

        • DizzyGear

Theres room for a dedicated portable gaming device on the market for the more serious gamer on the move.
Sony is fully to blame. Theres no virtually marketing for the device besides trying to rebrand it as a PS4 accessory instead trying to sell it on its own merits and of course the overpriced propitiatory slow ass memory cards they had a chance to phase out with the slim model.

And please dont get me started on how badly they fucked up with the Vita TV before i start a rant on how they screwed up such a great a idea in just about every possible aspect.

          • Alexander Merchant

So the 3DS is failing because of Sony as well? Last I checked the 3DS is a Nintendo product…..and is doing pretty well, too.

I won’t deny Sony screwed up with the Vita, but they’ve never been the “one to beat” in the handheld market. The “one to beat” has always been Nintendo, and Nintendo is doing just fine with their own product despite how much Sony is screwing up on theirs.

            • DizzyGear

I don’t agree they have to “beat” Nintendo’s 3DS. The Vita and the 3DS are to very different devices in both form factor and capabilities and can perfectly co-exist.

        • James Reilly

Remind me when any of those has a fraction of the same kind of appeal of a handheld gaming system. Portability isn’t all of it obviously.

          • Alexander Merchant

Klaud wasn’t questioning the appeal of portable PC’s (or if he/she was, they worded it pretty bad). Klaud was questioning the VERY EXISTENCE of portable PC’s. I wasn’t trying to say portable PC’s are “appealing” or “better” or anything like that. Only that they exist, and they exist in many forms and in great numbers.

@Dizzy You’re still missing the entire point. The point is the Vita is NOT the ONLY handheld system. The 3DS exists, and is doing well. Just because Sony “killed” the Vita doesn’t mean Sony “killed” the entire market. As long as Nintendo continues making money off of the 3DS, the handheld market will continue to exist. It may change (especially if the market becomes a Nintendo monopoly), but it will exist nonetheless.

      • Richard Miller

Ever heard of the nvidia shield. Also what ever happen to that steamboy?

      • OverlordZetta

Is there a point in there?

    • PuppetMaster

Sony also killed PS1, PS2, and PSP and soon they will kill PS3 and a couple years in the future they will kill PS4.

      • OverlordZetta

They didn’t really. Those lived their lives.

        • PuppetMaster

Uh huh, i love when you moving your goal post.

    • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Sony gave up where Nintendo turned around their tanking handheld with incredible success.

Really though, as long as there’s people like me who rather play on handheld than PC there is always an audience for traditional handheld regardless of ports everywhere.

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Im a way more surprised Nintendo games are not jumping to steam in english. Seem like Nintendo put a better restriction for their exclusives, there are exception but very few ones even for 3rd parties.

    • kandori

Sony secured the vita’s death when they announced the overpriced, proprietary memory cards. And the fact that they pushed it as another platform for AAA western games.

  • PSI Wind

Well, Visual Novels are hitting a huge resurgence on PCs. It was bound to happen

    • Shippoyasha

There are also many new games being funded by VN fans as well.

  • Dammage

HAPPENING! Cmooooon EDF, gotta get dat stable framerate

    • Loricifera

      YOU KNOW IT MAN!!!

  • shogunknight

    Good news

  • DesmaX

Already played this on PSP, but I’ll pick it up again.
Hope 2 doesn’t take too long to release

Holy shit, the dislikes on the video

    • shogunknight

Thats people taking it real personal.

  • Rodrigo Oliveira

I sold my PSP before this was released. The animation was really interesting, I’m looking forward to it.

  • Maroš Goč

So an another game from the list coming to Steam, so i think it is only a matter of time when FFX and X-2 are announced for PC.

  • DavidCage

    Day 1 buy..

  • tastyharwze

Well, no shit. Funny, basically they already decided to release DR2 on Steam too(thanks to SteamDB), why they just don’t bring “DR pack” or something. Because of DR series(and P4G too) i bought a PS Vita, only to play a year earlier, maybe it was a mistake after all…

    • MegaRay

Im starting to feel buying a Vita was a mistake too. The only thing that made me think otherwise is Danganronpa series, but now…

      • PuppetMaster

You shouldn’t buy Vita if you only want to play Danganronpa since the game released for PSP 5 years ago and for ios / android in 2012.

        • MegaRay

I didn’t buy it for danganronpa only, I bought it for alot of games, which all ended up on another systems I already have, and to make things worse, they release the other versions before the Vita’s. So I ended up playing the game on a different system.

I had my share of fun with Vita, but nowadays, its collecting dust.

          • PuppetMaster

All this years i still don’t understand the mentality of buyers remorse, especially the one who thinks “A platform became obselete because they release games from that A platform to B platform”. That always sound silly to me.

            • MegaRay

Im just thinking, if I hold off buying Vita, I could’ve played the same games on systems i already had. So I would’ve experienced great games and plus saved money and bought more games.

I mean playing Danganronpa on a big screen would’ve been awesome, and my friends could watch me playing instead of playing alone.

Just thinking out loud, no need to get offended.

              • PuppetMaster

Lol wut get offended? I only said that i never understand the mentality of buyers remorse. That’s all. Who stop you for regret your purchased anyway?

                • MegaRay

“Who stop you for regret your purchased anyway?”

                  You tried to…

        • Tatsuya

whoa whoa hold on a sec

          they released the game

          on android?

          when?

          • PuppetMaster

Back in 2012, japan only tho.

    • Random Stalker

You had ur fun, what is there to complain? ¯_༼ᴼل͜ᴼ༽_/¯

      • tastyharwze

It’s not enough to justify my purchase, this device not cheap you know :)

        • PuppetMaster

So you had fun with Vita and just because some games got release for other platform then suddenly you felt that’s not justify your purchased? lol buyers remorse became more confusing this days, especially for video games.

          • tastyharwze

There is no point to waste my money on PS Vita if i already have a decent PC to play these games.

            • PuppetMaster

Well with that mentality you shouldn’t buy any platform and just stick with your PC waiting for every single game comes to PC lol.

            • James Reilly

Then literally don’t buy every other game that is on console ever and get used to waiting months or even years for the CHANCE x game is ported to PC instead because the reality is there are a ton of games that exist now and coming in the future with a uncertainty at best for PC port

FYI DR 1 has been out for years. Congrats to those that waited that long. I’ll be satisfied with the new DR game on my Vita myself soon.

              • shogunknight

This. Nowadays, titles even though written as exclusives have uncertainty of remaining that way. But that doesnt mean if i want to play the said game ill wait for a year or more for it to come out on PC. Most times i prefer playing those titles on my handheld/console tbh.

Would you say you regret buying a PS2/PSP because disgaea1 is now available on PC, or regret purchasing PS3 because dragons dogma dark arisen is available on PC as well?

That aside, im happy the vita titles are having some attention to PC gaming

        • Richard Miller

So you only play games for exclusives? If you had fun on the vita that all that matters. I will be getting this for the PC though.

          • tastyharwze

On consoles? Maybe. Exclusives ONE OF the main REASONS to have console. I hope you will enjoy it :)

            • Richard Miller

              Thanks. :)

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Fortunately for me I bought it years ago so I had my fun and I couldnt care less to discuss older games newly released in another platform. However I do understand you, in fact some places at internet will make fun of us for having bough a dead handheld as they call it.

  • MegaRay

Hope Danganronpa 2 releases soon as well. Danganronpa UDG would be nice but I dont see it happening.

  • nerO_Orin

The comment section of that video is the embodiment of “Trigger Happy Havoc”.

  • Hexodious

Lol that comment section salt tho on YT
And fucking damn it another February game, quit beating my wallet

    • Luna Kazemaru

there is no salt in the comments on youtube tho just non vita owners trying to start shit

      • James Reilly

lol very top comment is PC elitist being snob, but TB reply though

        • Luna Kazemaru

Its just shit posting they can spend more time doing that then actually supporting the game

  • Tatsuya

this has to be the best day ever!!

and whoa, so many people crying that their so called exclusive game isnt exclusive anymore..just grow up people

    • Luna Kazemaru

where do you see the crying???

      • Tatsuya

in the youtube comments of the video and in the dislikes bar it has

        • Luna Kazemaru

the YT comments are just folks who don;t own a vita starting shit the dislike bar is silly yes but I don’t see the crying i just see people being dicks for no reason. Support the games release rather then trying to shit post is what they should be doing.

          • Tatsuya

            good point

    • James Reilly

I see more crying here and in the YT comments the other way around actually. lol even look at the top comment

    • OverlordZetta

That’s really easy for someone who isn’t watching their console of choice die to say. Maybe take your own advice, yeah?

      • Tatsuya

Yeah, im sure releasing DR on steam was the death tool of a system that was already on fuckin life support thanks to the stupidity of Sony. *sarcasm*

  • Wolf Star

    “Looks at wallet” Fuck!!!!

  • http://toucrowmoai.imgur.com/ encogen

Lemme guess, it won’t have a japanese text option. :|

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

It’s on PC now. That’s something that can easily be modded in if the demand is high enough for it.

  • bloodiOS

    Good, good~

  • Dysisa

Time to buy a lot of gift copies of this for friends so they too can experience an excellent game.

  • AsterSelene

This means that “I don’t have a Vita!” is no longer a good excuse as I start annoyingly badgering my friends to get the game. The more people who get to play the game, the better. Hopefully the second game can come over as well!

Even for me as a hardcore Vita lover, it’s hilarious to see the salt in the YouTube comments. This wasn’t even technically a Vita exclusive; it’s a PSP game, the “exclusiveness” outside Japan was artificially induced solely by the circumstances of its localization…

    • Luna Kazemaru

there is no salt from vita owners in the comments lol. They downvoting for sure tho

    • Richard Miller

You think the vita owners would be happy that more people can now play this game.

      • Darak

why would they be happy? if anything vita owners don’t even have to care about it coming to pc. But being happy about it?

        • Richard Miller

Why not? We are all gamers here and we should be happy for the community to flourish. Every time a PC game comes to consoles I am happy for the game to spread. You console gamers don’t feel the same?

          • Darak

I feel nothing, and I’m sure that most people that says they are “happy” they don’t truly mean it.

    • moreover

a portable exclusive nonetheless, don’t really see any logic behind dividing vita and psp

      • AsterSelene

Vita lovers like to think of this as if it were Spike Chunsoft giving a middle finger to the Vita by taking a “Vita game” and putting it on another console. (Never mind that this isn’t even how it works to begin with.) But since it was a PSP game to begin with, it was never a “Vita game”, just a port of a game to the Vita.

        • moreover

I can repeat: a portable playstation exclusive. If they port a ps4-port of a ps3-game, would really stubbornly beat the wall with “it was never exclusive to begin with!”

          • AsterSelene

If there were angry PS4 fans yelling that their precious console is being insulted by this, maybe?

            • moreover

I do much doubt that you’d do it and even more so that they’ll ever listen to this without turning a finger or two at a temple.

  • Richard Miller

    Sweet. c:

  • XiaomuArisu

    So….does that means Half-Life 3 is real?

    • Richard Miller

Well it have always been real but it’s either still in development or development hell.

      • Yuntu

We all know Gaben can’t count to 3, let’s be real here.

        • Richard Miller

          lol

      • XiaomuArisu

Half-Life 3 was part of the leak

        • Articuno76

“Half Life 3” (note the lack of the trademark hypen) was part of the leak, not “Half-Life 3”.

In other words, anyone could have filed an entry for a game that simply sounded like the real deal. And for all we know it might be an actual game that happens to have a very troll-ish title.

        • Richard Miller

Yeah which is more proof that they are still developing the game.

  • Vashe

Omg February 2016 is golden for any JRPG fan (even more on PC). Day 1 purchase for me, i always wanted to try this game

  • Cage137

I would really love to play it on PC, but I already far at the game. :( And I just bought part 2. But kinda happy for the Steam players. You got tons of JRPG and Japanese games this gen a lot. Which means, no downgrading games. If this game sucks at consoles, I would wait for the PC. I.E Fairy Fencer F and Last Remnant. LR is an amazing game. But on Xbox, it’s dodo. Same with Fairy Fencer, low FPS. PC fixes everything!

  • Fighunter

It’s gonna be a hard sell if it’s 30$ or more.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I seriously doubt they’ll try to charge that much for it. It will probably be closer to $20. They’re not insane. They know trying to sell a VN on Steam for $30 or more would be suicide.

      • Fighunter

I mean, this is their first time with Steam right? We’ve seen others fuck up before them so hopefully you’re right and they know how to handle the market.

      • OverlordZetta

The fact that that’s the case is depressing, frankly.

      • Christian Villarosa

CLANNAD is around 40 if I remember correctly, and when it first came out it went all the way to #3 in sellers.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Yeah, but this isn’t Clannad, lol. Clannad is like the holy grail of VNs, so of course they knew they could charge more for that one.

          • Christian Villarosa

Doesn’t matter. Danganronpa is on the uprise in the US. Clannad is 10 years old. I think they can sell for $30 and get away with it. The game is super popular at conventions and stuff, even a few years before it came state side.

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Doesn’t matter, lol. Clannad is and always will be more popular than Danganronpa, unfortunately. Hell, even Katawa Shoujo is more popular than this.

              • Christian Villarosa

Katawa Shojou more popular? No way.

                • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Way. It has been for a while too. I’m only talking about NA popularity here by the way. More people in the VN circle know stuff like Clannad and Katawa Shoujo. 3 out of 4 times, I usually get a “Huh?” or “What’s that about?” if I even mention Danganronpa.

That partly has to do with us only just receiving the game on Vita recently, whereas the other two have been on PC for a while now, easily accessible to everyone, even with potato computers. So yeah, it’s not really surprising when you understand why they’re more popular.

                  • Christian Villarosa

You say the VN circle, I’m talking about overall gamers. Many more people nowadays know Danganronpa over Katawa Shojou because Shojou is older and obscure while DR has been on the rise for awhile now. If I were to ask all the people I know, many more of them would say they have heard of DR over KS. Mainly because they don’t play Visual Novel games. DR is more marketable with it being a game on VITA as well as an Anime, while KS is a free to play older Visual Novel only on PC.

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Danganronpa is a hell of a lot more obscure than Katawa Shoujo, lol. Overall gamers would know Danganronpa more simply because most of those guys don’t follow VNs on PC, so that’s kind of a moot point. However, since Danganronpa does classify as a VN/Adventure title, it’s more fair to gauge how well it does among those fans rather than gamers as a whole since that’s not really a good way to gauge interest.

It would be like asking all gamers if they knew what Street Fighter was as opposed to simply keeping the question for those in the Fighting Game Community. I’m talking about solid statistics here while you’re sitting there trying to pad your numbers by including additional elements to the equation, lol.

                    • Christian Villarosa

When you are selling a product you want to get as many people to purchase it, so it doesn’t matter if they have played Visual Novels or not. Take fans of the anime for instance, they are gonna want to buy the game too even if they haven’t played a Visual Novel before. If you are selling a video game, you don’t want it to be just popular with the fans of the genre but video games as a whole.

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

If your fans of the genre outweigh the people overall, you’d want to focus on that group. That’s just how business works. If you open a hamburger joint in Chinatown because you want to focus on the population of everyone in the area rather than the Chinese people that live there, you’ll go out of business within a few months, maaaaaybe a year if you’re real lucky.

Instead, if you opened a Chinese restaurant, then you’d have enough Chinese coming to eat at your place to keep you in business. It’s all about demographics, man. When it comes to VN sales, I’d care more about how the VN crowd feels about it since they’re my main support group. Anything else is just extra at that point since VNs don’t sell that well in NA as it is.

      • 7thlevel JR

        $15 is fair TBH

    • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

You know, I’m a little curious PC audience feels that way. Had to pay $40 for this and well worth the price.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, they have different pricing methods for Vita as opposed to PC/Steam, so that’s another reason why I said they probably won’t sell it for $30 or more. They don’t have to make a deal with Sony to get it up on the market this time, so they have more wiggle room with the pricing now.

      • Fighunter

Well yeah but you got a nice box and cartridge!
The PC market is a bit petty is the thing.

  • ace-meza

Looking forward to see why these games are universally loved by everyone

  • Tyrone Jackson

My only experience with DR is friends hyping it up and the awful anime. I’ve seen enough gameplay and art to know that I really want to finally try it out.

  • Sevyne

More people really need to play these games, so I hope it sees success on pc. Danganronpa is fantastic.

  • Heisst

There was a guy with a Railgun’s Misaka avatar around here who was dead certain that the leak was fake, wonder how he’s feeling now.

  • Ngurah Danda

    What about danganronpa 2?

    • Richard Miller

      It’s coming.

  • MrSushi

Another port for PC and they say “PC Master Race”, so the master race is just a Port Race.

    • RazorDragoon

      Can you code/develop games on a PS4?

    • MrKappa

PC is the master race because you can play just about any and every game on it at the best settings and with mods.

This might be another port but it is also another reason you don’t need to buy a Vita when you can just get it on PC.

      • Mk333

not yet, you still cant take a pc with you on a metro train to play games like neptunia. but for danganronpa i assume with any windows 8.1 tablet you can.

        • 7thlevel JR

but the problem is that nobody(in america) is buying vita take with them on the metro train in the first place

      • AcedXXII

Not if you’re a person who actually leaves the house.

      • Darak

people could already play the japanese psp iso fully patched in english on a psp emulator since long time ago, if pc people that cared about danganronpa haven’t played it yet, then they are just dumb.

        • Richard Miller

          Not everyone like using emulators.

  • NaughtyOttsel

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Guess I’m replaying.

  • Lambadelta

i am gonna buy it but now i wish i didn’t watch the anime. now i am thinking whether i should watch the new Danganronpa anime coming out in 2016 or not…

then again i am a fan of the IP thanks to the anime, so giving credit where it’s duo (the anime could be waaaay better though it seems).

    • antithesis

No, DO NOT watch the new anime without playing the second game, and possibly UDG. The anime takes place after UDG and the second game, so it’s instant spoilers.

      • Lambadelta

i know dude thanks. i already spoiled myself about the second Danganronpa to some extent back when i was hyped after watching the anime (didn’t go into details but know the jest of it).

the thing is, i am usually fine with spoilers but Danganronpa is all about it’s spoilers (it’s like reading a Hercule Poirot case when you know the murderer already) so knowing about the twists can s*ck the joy out of it to some extent sadly.

on the other hand i want to support them so since it’s on Steam i am gonna buy it and definitely play it. (i only play on PC. personal preference, no offense to other platforms at all. i used to play on many other ones when i was younger).

i hope it sells well enough on Steam to guarantee it’s sequels on PC as well. i am probably not gonna be able to resist and might end up watching the new anime anyway but i will buy any Danganronpa game i can just as a sign of support.

    • OldManObelisk

I also watched the anime but the game is way deeper and explains things much better. I recommend playing the game first really.

      • Lambadelta

i am definitely gonna play it specially because they confirmed the second game as well.

    • Dont-leave-us-Atlus

Definitely watch the new danganronpa anime coming out its gonna finish off the hopes peak academy class story id highly recommend playing all the games currently released before though it shouldnt have any spoilers for the new danganronpa game in development I think

      • Lambadelta

really? i thought the new anime is gonna be based on the new game.

        • Dont-leave-us-Atlus

nope new anime and game are completely different stories so as long as youve played 1+2 and preferably the spin-off watching the new anime probably wont spoil the new game maybe have some info that will be used in the new game but different sets of main characters

  • Rizqi Deznady

gonna buy dangan2 on steam if they release it. this really saves my money, the original plan was to buy psvita just for the sake of continuing story and yes i already watched the first season.

  • Articuno76

So, I’m a little confused here. I thought this game was some kind of shooter spin-off rather than a core entry? Or is it a core entry with some gameplay changes?… Or was Danganrompa actually a shooter all along?

    • Dysisa

This is originally the Vita port of the first game.

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

This is the first game, you are thinking about danganronpa another episode which happens after the first game

    • Saibanchou

Danganronpa is a visual novel/adventure hybrid, and it started out on the PSP of which we never saw an official release. Later on it was bundled together with its sequel (also a visual novel) for an updated Vita port – these ports were the games which made it to the west.

Danganronpa: Another Episode is the shooter spin-off you are talking about. It takes place between DR1 and DR2, but it was released after these two and does therefore contain references/spoilers in both directions.

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Danganronpa its a visual novel mainly with some exploration, it feature class trials that are a bit like Pheonix court room because you need to investigate assesinations. Those are the main games and was the main appeal. Then there exist an spin off shooter that its set between the first and second game, it was created after the second game because they needed to clarify some things.

    • Dont-leave-us-Atlus

The spinoff is called Another episode danganronpa:ultra despair girls and you correct it is a shooter but the story fits perfectly in the danganronpa universe those warriors of hope

  • easter

“plans to add steam cards” they’d better have steam cards day 1 if they want to see good returns. anime profiles ya dig?

  • Red

Glad to see more Vita games I enjoy getting ported to PC. Will probably pick this up during a future sale.

  • Kattaro

It’s good that more people will be able to play it but I still need to buy it and play it on my vita. Kind of sad that I didn’t buy it on Black Friday sale.

    • antithesis

It’s on sale on PSN. If you want the physical, it’s $30 on Amazon.

      • Kattaro

Thanks for the info, I will buy it in near future but not now, I need to finish other games first.

  • Manny Being Manny

544p screens on Steam. This won’t end well.

    • antithesis

I really don’t know what people are expecting, it’s a port of a port of a PSP game. The drawings aren’t going to suddenly improved.

      • Manny Being Manny

The bare minimum is porting it up to 1080p, like any other Vita port on PC. If they try to release it at 544p this is going to fail, since PC owners simply won’t accept full screen 544p for any new game.

        • antithesis

Yeah, but most of those PSP games are either remade, nor do they heavily depend on pre-rendered drawings.

          • Lambadelta

he is sadly right some PC elitists are really picky about it but this is all assuming they directly port the Vita version to PC.

i assume all games are made on PC so as long as they have their original assets or whatever it is highly unlikely that they are locked to a certain size or resolution during the development process.

    • tokyobassist

Durante will save the PC Master Race as with every other limpdick port.

  • UMR-10

Cool, we will see more Japanese games coming to PC, this is good news for everyone!

  • OldManObelisk

    HELL YEAH!

    When Februari tho!

  • http://roleplayingblog.blogspot.com El Chromah

Oh another low effort port of a japanese console game on pc like a year after.

    • moreover

      two years, actually

  • AK258

Pretty happy about this, since this game isn’t Vita TV compatible for some reason (atleast not in Europe anyway) and I’m reluctant to get a Vita because of the memory card prices.

  • Darak

This happens every time, they announce a game is coming to pc, and suddenly every pc gamer start saying vita owners are salty, and all that shit when no vita owner said anything, or they see just 1 coment and they think the entire vita fanbase cares about the game coming to pc, and suddenly everyone in this section thinks vita gamers care about it when that’s just not the case.
When pc “exclusive” games are announced for consoles, like Divinity or Overwatch, no one says a thing, no one cares, but when a pretty old console game comes to pc every pc fanboy start thinking everyone cares about it lol

    • Manny Being Manny

No one says things about PC games going to console because they are generally worse versions since you can’t mod them, get as good of graphics, have a choice of controls, etc.

      • Darak

so that’s what makes you less insecure right?
I mean console gamers don’t get the perfect version like pc gamers so you shouldn’t fear

    • moreover

Well, it’s usually hard not to notice how sordid pc-users are

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Like “sony cucks got assblasted” That phrase is very common in 4chan, specially the masterace party.

    • OldManObelisk

All I see is Vita fanboys attacking PC gamers.

    • Richard Miller

PC gamer here and I am not attacking Vita fans but I do see some vita fans angry about this. I believe games should be on as much platforms as possible.

  • DudeGuy

Wow, lots of Vita games getting ported to Steam. I approve, because even though I do have a Vita, Steam has so many sales that the games are all way cheaper on PC than on Vita.

    • moreover

that’s a rather petty reason lol

  • Limbless

I see a marked lack of mentions of resolution. Wonder just how low it’s going to be.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

It will most likely just be upscaled.

    • Richard Miller

      Wasn’t the vita version 1080p?

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

        Lol
