Apollo Justice
A hot-blooded attorney who wears a red suit. He’s grown admirably while easily handling frequent requests, and has become an indispensable asset of Phoenix Wright’s attorney office. But even so, he doesn’t miss his daily vocal exercises. His favorite phrase is “I’m fine!” which he often echoes in the courtroom. He has the ability to “see through” lies by observing a witness’ slight habits.
Kurain Kingdom, a Country of Mystery and Faith
The Kurain Kingdom, a country of mystery and faith. The people follow the “Kurain Religion,” which accepts the ideas of spirits and psychic mediums as commonplace. In this country where these ideas have served as their core beliefs since ancient times, even a psychic medium rules the kingdom as queen.
The Kurain Religion is a religion that puts faith in the spirits of ancestors and has a deep connection to psychic mediums. Almost everyone in the Kurain Kingdom follows the faith. In the Jiin Temple, there is the Kurain Supreme Court, a courtroom where lawyers are absent and an “Oracle of the Spirit” called upon by the power of a psychic medium determines the final judgment.
Prosecutor Gaspen Payne
Driven out of Japan’s legal circles, this veteran prosecutor drifts to the Kurain Kingdom to throw his weight around. He became a prosecutor in the Kurain Kingdom and boasts of his undefeated record, and is now the country’s head prosecutor. He’s as persistent and insistent as ever, and uses Phoenix Wright’s inexperience in an unfamiliar land as an opportunity to hunt him down.
Leyfa Padma Kurain
The princess and a psychic medium of the Kurain Kingdom, she has a holy and strict atmosphere about her. Her psychic power enables her to project a victim’s memory of the “last few seconds before death.” This is known as an “Oracle of the Spirit” ceremony. Her ability to influence the final judgment in the courtroom of the Kurain Kingdom will stand in Phoenix Wright’s way.
Leyfa uses her psychic power to perform an “Oracle of the Spirit” ceremony. Only a limited number of people within the Kurain Kingdom can perform this ceremony. During these rituals, Leyfa performs an elegant and mysterious “Dedication Dance.” When it’s over, the few seconds before the victim’s death is projected onto the surface of the Water Mirror in the center of the Kurain Supreme Court.
The Last Few Seconds Before a Victim’s Death
The image projected onto the surface of the Water Mirror in the center of the Kurain Supreme Court consists of both video and text. The text depicts the five senses felt by the deceased. By deciphering it, Leyfa can make a revelation.
This revelation, the “God’s Divine Message,” cannot possibly be overturned, given it’s what the dead themselves have seen—particularly in the highly religious Kurain Kingdom, where there is no doubt if you’re a psychic medium.
Medium Vision
Leyfa is able to depict the last few moments of a victim’s death through the “Oracle of the Spirit” ceremony. This is seen as the perfect evidence, however, when displaying the image in the Water Mirror, there can be contradictions with Leyfa’s divine messages. Players can point out these contradictions to higlight the truth.
The top screen depicts the video and feelings experienced by the victim, while the lower screen depicts Leyfa’s divine message. Players will need to compare what’s shown in the Water Mirror with Leyfa’s message to point out a contradiction. You’ll be able to rewatch the video a number of times while looking for the contradiction.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 6 is due out for 3DS in Japan in 2016. A western release is also planned.
