Yoru no Nai Kuni

Yoru no Nai Kuni will launch for PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe in early 2016, Koei Tecmo announced.

In Japan, the Gust-developed action RPG is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on October 1.

Koei Tecmo notes that Yoru no Nai Kuni is a tentative title.

Further details were not announced.

Only took 45 minutes, that was quick.

    • Franggio Hogland

Yeah about that. where is our atelier games? :(

    • Psycho Punch

It’s so sad how the West ignores the Vita so much, especially when you see announcements of games coming out for the system in Japan from TGS at almost steady stream.

      • Luna Kazemaru

well that’s what happens when the handheld doesn’t push you units. I think people need to accept that’s a reality of just about anything.

        • Psycho Punch

That’s why I said it’s sad that the West didn’t really give it a chance. I’m quite happy that Asia is now part of SCEJ, which makes it more likely for games from Japan to get released in SEA where there are more English speaking players.

          • Luna Kazemaru

well its pretty much the other way around in Japan xD big on handheld meh on consoles always been shakin my head over that both markets are pretty viable

            • Psycho Punch

Looking at the recent weekly sales charts, though, it seems the PS4 is starting to gain traction in there as well. It also helps that the console is hugely popular worldwide that Japanese developers can’t ignore the global user base for the system. The Vita doesn’t enjoy the same success.

              • Luna Kazemaru

IMO i still blame it on how sony has handled the thing that and the price of the cards can destroy a person

                • Psycho Punch

I won’t deny that Sony have shortcomings with pushing the system, but they could make that system prepare sandwiches at home, but there would still be people complaining about the memory cards.

                  • Luna Kazemaru

                    lol yep

        • Phelan

12kk is not that bad result.

Sure it’s not PS4 or even PSP… but it still does better than Xbox One and Wii U. Of course one of those is still new console… but still

          • Luna Kazemaru

umm we are talking about in the west

            • Phelan

The fun fact: it still is true when it comes to EU

PSV sold more here than Xbox One and Wii U.

Of course acording to crappy vgchartz, but there were information for example from spain that seems to confirm that.

        • awvnx

It’s not as simple as that though. They’re already localizing the game for one platform, so it doesn’t cost very much to bring it to others, when it was originally release in Japan as multiplatform.

KT probably wants that extra $20 from PS4 sales, and doesn’t care if the game sells less copies overall if it’s PS4 only.

    • Wagnaria

      Let there be God :(

    • Firion Hope

There’s hope, please let it come to Vita

    • ayanami-chan

yeah apparently not if you pulled this

    • Phelan

I just hope that it won’t be digital only once again.

After collector edition of Ar Nosurge sold out quite fast… it would be silly idea… (though it’s shame that I had to import it from canada :/ instead of supporting European version)

Edit: although I kinda don’t believe what they say.

    • Budgiecat

      At least they listen

Sega, Nintendo and Bamco on the other hand…

  • Wagnaria

    Vita? :(

  • http://psnprofiles.com/TomatoDragon TomatoDragon

Well at least now it’s confirmed coming west.

  • OverlordZetta

    Wow. What a letdown.

I mean we knew it was coming, but that only the PS4 version was? Yikes.

    • Unretributed

I’m thinking the PS3/Vita versions will be announced digital only later on a smaller stage.

Like in a Playstation Blog post or something.

      • ringgo

What’s the point telling later or now?

        • Unretributed

Why bring bad news now when you can bring it later under the radar in a blog post?

          This has happened before

      • OverlordZetta

I doubt it – not with the tweet.

    • Budgiecat

stop being a low level base pleb and transform to Super Zetta PS4 already

      • OverlordZetta

I’m still not sure if I want to stick with Sony for another console yet, honestly. This has a PS3 version too, so it’s not just the loss of the Vita one that’s a bummer.

        • Budgiecat

          WAT

after all these gaming reveals and

          WAT

          • Luna Kazemaru

            I can’t even….

            • Budgiecat

first Mozendo dissing Chrono Trigger, now this…

              • Liam Sterk

The hell’s wrong with this world, eh?

                • Budgiecat

lets not forget CC2 making a mobile game instead of a new .Hack

maybe this is the work of Donald ‘DIO’ Trump and his evil hair stand

  • DamageCity

    Glad I didn’t pre-order it.

  • z_merquise

2016 is really going to be good with so many games coming out.

  • Bianca Ann Saracino

Fantastic news! Looking forward to it, hopefully KT continues to partner up with NISA to give us a neat Limited Edition like they’ve been doing ^_^ Unless of course KT releases a LE themselves.

  • ayanami-chan

    yeah but… the vita version

    • Unretributed

Like I told Zetta just now, PS3/Vita versions might be announced as digital only later in a PLAYSTATION BLOG post.

      • Phelan

        yeah… no.

At the same time they announced Samurai Warriors 4 Empries is coming to PS3/PS4/PSV.

So they properly announced one title and focused on just PS4 in case of Yoru No Nai Kuni?

Also read the the twitter post posted by six. It shows that right now it’s not in their plans.

        • PuppetMaster

KT could change their mind you know. Example when KT doesn’t have plan to localize Ar Nosurge vita. But people asking KT on their official FB to localize it and after that they localized it.

          • Phelan

My reply didn’t deny that possibility right?

I said that it seems that right now they don’t have any plans for it.

        • Unretributed

Warriors already has an established fanbase on Vita and ps3, this game doesn’t.

If People in the west are going to be like “where’s the ps3 and Vita versions?” And there’s deemed to be enough demand, they’ll make plans to bring those versions and would likely be announced through Twitter or a PS blog post.

Ta-da! Was that really that hard to figure out?

  • Liam Sterk

I’m not surprised about the lack of a PS3 version… But Vita? The hell?

  • Luna Kazemaru

I might dip again since i am importing

  • sunny

    Brilliant!

  • Budgiecat

and people were nervous otherwise and rushing to import…..lol

Now up the framerate to 60fps KT…..dun be lazy

    • Odin

Rushing? Some people don’t particularly care for localization announcements because they take too long.

And it’s a plus if you understand a bit of Japanese so you don’t have to wait. Granted, not everyone is me (and I understand that), but I’m fine with either version.

      • oldgameswerebetter

and japanese version wont risk some retarded US censure
        (no offense intended)

        • Odin

Heh. I don’t think they’ll censor this one. It’s not particularly explicit like a lot of other titles.

          • oldgameswerebetter

yeah but some demons and costumes are a bit risque

            • Odin

You’re referring to Deception IV? :P

              • oldgameswerebetter

hum no o.O i’m referring to arnas ritual dress and the 2 succubus like minions (the basicaly wear a slingbikini)

                • Odin

No, I understand, I was referring to how TK changed the box art for Deception in the US.

                  • oldgameswerebetter

well if they change the box art i really don’t care, is the game content that i do not want to be censured

                    • Odin

Yeah. I’m just excited about the battle system. It looks nothing like your typical Gust title (granted Kikuchi has a very good track record), so it’s really something to look forward to.

I’ve noticed a lot of the titles at TGS are spiritual successors, so it’s refreshing to see something original for once.

      • Budgiecat

        yeah okay

weebs grandstanding and pretending to be fully fluent in moonspeak again. lol

        • Odin

Weeb? I’m Asian, so maybe you shouldn’t assume before you know who you’re talking to.

          • Budgiecat

okay did you know that everyone on this board is also Asian? Bet you didnt know that :p

    • Veleskola

If the PS4 version isn’t 60fps then I officially give up on KT.

      • Budgiecat

especially when their other games run at 60fps (like OP PW 3)

  • http://twitter.com/M_Demolish Demolish

i want two things about Yoru no Nai Kuni

    1.limited edition by nis america/eu for ps4

    2.Vita with retail

    • Phelan

      amen

    • Six

The only way Vita will get a retail release in the west is if NISA did it. After how abysmally bad Toukiden Kiwami did at retail on Vita I don’t see TK ever doing physical Vita games again.

  • Limbless

This must be the only place in the world where people see a PS4 game announcement and lament it not being on the Vita (in English).

I love my Vita, though. I understand.

    • Liam Sterk

Oh, I’ll be getting this on PS4. I’m more surprised KT neglected the Vita, when they’ve shown support in the past.

      • OverlordZetta

        Maybe Sony’s forcing their hand.

        • Luna Kazemaru

i’m pretty sure sony wouldn’t tell some company to cock block they own hardware even if it sold little they still get some of the pie lol.

          • OverlordZetta

If it prompted their new hardware? Sure they would.

Look at DQH. SE doesn’t gain anything not bringing over the PS3 version after they abandoned the franchise here.

        • Six

Sony hates the Vita, but I don’t think they hate it that much.

          • OverlordZetta

It’s not necessarily hate, but as others have pointed out, business.

Square Enix recently said Sony was why Agito+ on Vita got delayed, remember.

        • RogersX93

I really doubt Sony’s forcing their hand on a niche Japanese localization. More likely is that they didn’t propose well for the Vita version or their higher ups thought that the Vita’s struggle effects niche games.

        • Liam Sterk

As the others have said, I kinda doubt it was due to Sony interference. More likely a business decision was made by KT – one I understand, but nonetheless am surprised by.

    • awvnx

I have a PS4 and Vita but I’m very reluctant to spend $60 on a game that is a PS4/Vita multiplat. The PS4 version isn’t really worth owning over the Vita one since the graphics and environment are designed with the Vita in mind. Maybe Yoru no Nai Kuni will be compelling since it’s an action game, but something like Digimon Cyber Sleuths really isn’t particularly worth playing on the PS4 at the higher price.

  • https://www.behance.net/cobaltcomet KOKAYI5

I want to know more about thr plot.
I fear with so little spoke of it that it might not be as interesting or as memorable as i would like.

    • Unretributed

What was the last JRPG that you played with a plot memorable and interesting enough that you think you’ll still be fond of 10 years from now?

      • https://www.behance.net/cobaltcomet KOKAYI5

Tales of Xillia, Abyss, kinda Legendia, Vesperia, Graces F, FF6, 7, 9, 10, some of 13, Crisis Core, Chrono Cross, Ys Seven, Ys Celceta, not so much Oath in Felghana, Wild ARMS 3, 4, 5, Xenosaga, Xenogears, Xenoblade, .hack GU trilogy, All Star Ocean games (only played SO1 and 2 remade), Grandia 2 but not the others were so etched in my mind.

I still daydream about character interactions and plot twists and possible sequels with most JRPGs I played in the early 2000s. I’m all about story. That’s why it pains me if I have to sell/trade one that isn’t likely to be ported to PS4 later. And why I still howl at the moon for Wild ARMS 6.

        • Unretributed

For me it was Xilia and Ni No Kuni and before that, Valkyria Chronicles and before that maybe a PSP or PS2 game.

I look at this game and I’m just not getting that same kind of feeling, especially considering where it’s coming from. It could be fun but I doubt it’s going to be anything great.

          • https://www.behance.net/cobaltcomet KOKAYI5

Well if the story isn’t that good, I hope it’s at least a very fun game with impressive cool characters.

Oh I forgot about KH games. Kh1, 2, BBS and reCOM were other games that’ll stick with me. Even Dream Drop for it’s Inception style plot twists. But I didn’t fall in love with all their games. Some were just things to watch while my brother played, give a little more detail on what I guessed from other games.

  • Jinathin

So now i have Neptunia Victory 2, Dark souls 3, Project DIVA X, and this to get

and thats just beginning of 2016

  • cyberkinghardy

Good thing I’ll buy the JP version. Seriously, FK KT.

    • sunny

Not there fault their games on Vita don’t sell well in the West. They have to minimise losses

      • Skerj

They do have a tendency to just release them on PSN digitally with no forewarning. ..so sayeth the last few Ateliers.

        • OverlordZetta

Only one Atelier was released without warning.

          • Skerj

Was it? I thought it was two.

      • drtoszi

Miss the SAO sales report did you?

        • sunny

Never knew SAO was a Koei Tecmo game…
No Koei Tecmo games sold well on Vita. Maybe Bandai games like SAO yes

        • yo1234

I laughed so hard. Thank you

        • Teh Blasterz

Probably not the fairest thing when you consider the vita version came out long before the home console version, so most people who wanted to play it likely already had. There’s also the free copies you got if you pre-ordered lost song, which I’m not so sure is counted.

    • Bianca Ann Saracino

I can only speak for myself but as a PS3, PS4 and Vita owner who loves each of the consoles and the library’s I own for them I’m just glad that it it’s getting localized same for any future game. Which ever system they decide to release it on is fine for me but I can understand for people who don’t have all 3 and wont be able to play it.

    • PuppetMaster

Before you cursing KT and claimed they always leaving out vita, than first you should count how many vita games that KT already localized until this day.

I can give you some list such as DoA 5, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2, two Deception 4, Ar Nosurge, lots of Dynasty / Samurai Warriors, lots of Ateliers games, and two Toukiden. This not even counting future games like Toukiden 2, DoA X3, Attack on Titan, etc.

So if you want them to localize Yoru no ni kuni for vita than you should asked them nicely. I mean seriously, they are one of the best and friendliest company to ask localization, You just embarassed yourself if you already cursing them here without even try to ask them by yourself on their official FB / twitter.

You can mention to koei tecmo on their twitter page about a possible vita version

  • koksuckaahh

All this TK Localization news is cool and all but…What about DOAX3 news?

    • Bianca Ann Saracino

The schedule said that they will talk about it on the 19th and announce the results of the poll.

      • Budgiecat

tell em to stop objectifying fake women. Its angering all the SJWs and bitter unattractive women of the world…:3

        • Bianca Ann Saracino

          Never!!

          • Budgiecat

            I take it you’re not a hottie then :3

        • koksuckaahh

          Will do!

      • koksuckaahh

        Ah, thx for the info.

      • Ris

at this point do we really need to see the result to know the character pool? It’s pretty obvious whos gonna be in it lol

  • oldgameswerebetter

well i preordered the japan psvita limited edition and will buy the english version for ps4, somewhat good enought for me

  • percentaged

I’m glad at least it got localized.

  • oldgameswerebetter

note that they twitted again after listening to the fanbase and said they will try try to persuade again the dev-team for the psvita version on the tgs tomorrow
well now i dont know how much they really intend to try but at least they answered

    • koksuckaahh

Atleast they care about vita users, to a degree.

      • oldgameswerebetter

now if marlvelous would annunce the localization of valkyrie drive 2016 would be really the best year for my psvita

        • koksuckaahh

I feel you on that vitabro.

          • oldgameswerebetter

not that i didn’t preorder the jap limited edition anyway just to be sure XD

            • koksuckaahh

              Best to be cautious.

  • An Tran

No Vita? Screw that then. I know it’s probably some business decision, but now I have to cross this game off my hype list.

  • James Reilly

Yeah fuck off if your just bringing the PS4 version.

  • ekibyougami

For those who missed the tweet.
It’s not a guarantee, but you got to give ’em props for at least listening and trying.

  • Six

Major props to KT for engaging their fans about the Vita version. They’ve built up a great reputation for localizing games for the platform so hopefully they step up.

  • Renaldi Saputra

please bring vita version KT, even only digital version, you’ve been always a good guy among other big companies

  • Manny Being Manny

These are the kinds of things Vita fans will unfortunately have to deal with in the next year or so as Vita fades into obscurity in the West. Sucks but its reality.

    • Raphael Cuyugan

You can at least tell them on Twitter that you want it and maybe they’ll bring it.

      • C4

Twitter shouldn’t be a place to tell people to do their job.

    • Luna Kazemaru

It takes time luckily i learned that sooner :V hardware trends are unforgiving :o

    • Uvers

Or you can learn japanese only plausible way to play japanese games on vita in the future it seems

    • obezian

Right, because devs are not at fault at all and we all should just blame the fate. They should stand up and be as vocal as possible and not just pathetically whimper

      • Manny Being Manny

Devs aren’t in the job of losing money. They’re in the job of making money by releasing games where they are most profitable. If people bought the Vita then it would be more viable to release for.

        • obezian

You don’t lose money inserting a completed translation. The only thing you have to worry about is an admission fee and it’s so comparatively small that it’s not even funny

          • Manny Being Manny

Its a lot more then that, obviously. Like editing all the code for the game to put in all of the translation. And if a game is only going to sell a few thousand its not worth it.

            • Luna Kazemaru

but its just paper work and an admission fee :V

              • obezian

Wait, didn’t you run away, pussycat

            • obezian

It is. Those are the things I include in inserting the translation. It’s not that costly, this is a question of not being a lazy asshole, not about losing money.

  • Hexodious

Nah, no thanks. Prefer Gust titles on my Vita.

    • Raphael Cuyugan

You can actually pester their Twitter accts so that the devs might consider the Vita version.

  • talesoffan

No worse trend in gaming these days than leaving other versions of the game unlocalized and only localizing for the PS4.

    • Bianca Ann Saracino

I’m certainly not going to tell you or anyone else to not be upset but I can think of a lot worse trends in gaming these days such as censorship, day one dlc, broken/buggy games on release, retailer exclusive dlc etc..

That said KT is trying to see what they can do for the people who are asking for a vita release.

      • talesoffan

true and agree but not releasing the games on all available platforms is only alienating fans and not allowing more people to play. Gust has many fans on PS3 and Vita and not everyone has upgraded.

    • Zarathos No Daimaōh

Oh yes there is far worse … like forced dubs , or not releasing games in the west at all

      • obezian

        No, this is way worse

        • Zarathos No Daimaōh

then by all means “woe is you” … got little else to say on this

          • obezian

Woe is indeed me, thank you for rubbing that salt.

            • Zarathos No Daimaōh

When you’re arguing that the restrictive choice of platform is worse than not getting the game in the west … you’re pretty much doing it to yourself , and what i say is probably sugar in comparison , imo . But let’s just move on .

    • Zackasaur

      lolol

That wouldn’t even make the top TWENTY in a list of bad trends in the game industry.

  • N/A

I really prefer this. I want larger and more side content packed games, which sadly Handheld RPGs don’t do, hell even some Console ones shy away from. If I had to choose I’d take console versions in a heartbeat.

    • Luna Kazemaru

you doing it wrong you should be hating the ps4 for stealing dah games

      • N/A

No. I want my 100 hour sidequest fest where I haven’t touched the main story for a good 20 hours. That can’t happen on handhelds with their space limitations.

    • obezian

The game won’t suddenly become bigger just because they didn’t localize vita-version, genious

      • N/A

No but future games made solely on PS4 will.

        • obezian

They won’t be, because tecmo still needs to sell it to vita audience in Japan to be profitable. And they don’t even have the money to make games you mention to begin with. Do some people even think.

    • OverlordZetta

Dude, not localizing a handheld version isn’t the same as not developing a game with a handheld version.

Watch and be amazed as business as usual continues in Japan, while we just don’t get handheld versions of games.

  • Zarathos No Daimaōh

I feel for everyone that wishes a vita version , and hopes you eventually get your way . I mostly care about playing those games on home consoles so i’m happy thus far

  • Wolfe

    I’ll definitely pick it up.

  • obezian

What in the actual fock, tecmo. What the fock. I’m even more disgusted by the fact that some people are encouraging the omission of vita version. What the hell is wrong with you, people.

    • Luna Kazemaru

No one really is tho lol.

      • drtoszi

You were on twitter doing exactly that tho’

        • Luna Kazemaru

to bad i wasn’t tho but nice of you to take my tweets out of context I never said they shouldn’t be a vita version ( like some of you vita only people go about saying it should only be on vita tho!!) But i can see why they would pick ps4 over it again nice work taking shit out of context but then again when people wanna argue that they are quick to fall back on it

          • obezian

There can be no understanding in this situation. It is seriously not that hard inserting a translation into a game.

            • Luna Kazemaru

I hope you don’t honestly fucking think thats the only god damn thing they need to do….

              • obezian

Pretty much the only thing except focking paper work and an admission fee. Please, don’t make yourself look even stupidier.

                • Luna Kazemaru

No you are already making yourself look like a idiot just fine no worry there good day lol

                  • obezian

                    Right, run away, scaredy pussy

                  • obezian

                    Run, run, my little genious.

                • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

It takes more than just inserting text and paperwork. Got to go through obstacle like rating board, marketing, business strategy (making the most out of your giving audience),translating, production cost etc. There’s been numerous of article on the web explaining how a game a publisher localise a game and what they have to go through.

If it was as simple as that then we would’ve gotten games like The Legend of Heroes: SC, 3rd, Zero, Ao, Sen, and Sen II by now.

                  • obezian

Localize a game as a whole not just an additional version. Half of the things you mention are not even needed for the add version

                    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Well it does, you need more budget to work on more things. ie releasing for multiple console.

How would you go about proposing to management that increasing budget to work on Vita and PS3 version would be worth it in the game? theres just too many factors in deciding that sort of things.

                    • obezian

More budget, not THAT much more budget. We are not talking about psp here.

                • Ferrick

It’s not only that they have to translate it and copy paste it, it doesn’t work that way, they have to CODE IN THE TEXT, but not only that, they have to also pay for licenses, it’s not a cheap and quick process and speaking as a programmer, there tends to be problems when done so. Ergo, stop being ignorant

                  • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Nah ferrick he said it himself, he can copy and paste text, it’s THAT SIMPLE.

                    • obezian

Right, you can’t retort so you just choose being stupid. Great.

                    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

I’m sorry If I’m trying to defend you, I did really /not/ believe you when you said it’s only a copy and paste job.

                    • obezian

And I didn’t say that it’s only that, I elaborated many times on every aspect you try to defend them with. I assure you, their decision went like this “but noone plays on vita in the west, didn’t you see the sony’s western conference?” and not because it was costly. It really is not. It’s the same as when Bamco didn’t localize Pirate Warriors 2 for vita. They simply didn’t care.

                    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Mate I’m not even defending koei tecmo. I just don’t think Vita is a viable market for western market. So please, spare us your ignorance and move. You’re making it sound like it’s child play.

                    • obezian

Then you are simply wrong and have been proven that many times. Thanks for your ignorance.

                  • obezian

Doddler in MG is handling ALL CODING by himself in a matter of weeks during the porting and inserting. Yes, vns are not exactly the same, but are you fucking kidding me mentioning that as a reason for a company like Tecmo. And you don’t pay for vita like it’s the only version that carries the localization. Stop defending an empty space, it’s pathetic.

                    • Ferrick

it’s not that I am defending Tecmo for their decision, sure they’re not localizing the Vita version, shame but understandable, its still coming regardless, but it’s just your ignorance that’s appalling. But if you’re so adamant that things are that simple and cheap, why don’t you do it yourself? Hope you got thousands of dollars to pay for the licensing.

                    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

hey if doddler can enter text (apparently), I’m sure obezian can!.

                    • obezian

                      Being stupid…

                    • Ferrick

                      pot. kettle. black.

                    • obezian

I have said from the very beginning about inserting, which includes coding, and fees. You just read what you want to and that is applling indeed as there’s NOTHING understandable about this decision when you look at the sales of ar nosurge, for example.
Also, yes, even a single person can sponsor it if he really wants to, not to mention a goddamn corporation the develops attack on titan.

                    • Ferrick

yet you made it sound so simple, you’re so goddamn adamant in that little mind of yours that it’s so easy to do while it’s not, and considering that the western audience for Vita is also low, it’s not viable at all to do so. And yes, a single person can sponsor it, if they’re rich that is. So put a boot on it, because your ignorance is weapon’s grade idiocy.

                    • obezian

Wow, you know nothing and still sound so insulting. Good to know that you can’t really argue with me.
Also you should talk with Tom from xseed about how vita is not viable for jap games, he’ll be as surprised as I am.

    • Manny Being Manny

I’d be fine with having a Vita version, but at some point you gotta stand back and look past your bias and think if its actually financially viable for these publishers to release Vita/PS3 versions anymore. Thats all we’re doing.

      • obezian

It obviously is. Just how much money do you think you can lose with it. It’s easily covered even with the several thousand copies.

        • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

          Are you serious?

          • obezian

Yes, please show me the costs of adding a version to an already happening localisation

            • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Unfortunately I’m only working as a technical support in a company. Instead of asking me why don’t you provide the answer yourself since your so adamant that it will be booming with the western market.

I know myself that Vita isn’t doing good in the here, there isn’t enough audience to justify that sort of release. Digital? maybe.

              • obezian

Noone is exactly asking for physical and I’m not talking about physical too. Not localizing at all is what can’t be justified at all.

      • drtoszi

        http://i.imgur.com/7QsEQFP.jpg

Forget this? SAO sales on PS4 v Vita

        • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

You are talking about SAO here…it’s like talking about bleach or naruto or dragon ball z.

          • obezian

Wat. Ar nosurge in the west pretty much sold the same numbers on vita and ps3 on psn. Also quickly sold out the vita’s LEs. Tecmo has been tweeting how they are satisfied with its perfomance and now do this? Just how warped is their logic.

  • http://myanimelist.net/profile/rayxtr Rayxtr

Still no Ciel Nosurge localization. And now they even drop the vita version of this game… Do they even want us to support them?

    • Manny Being Manny

Ciel Nosurge localization would make absolutely no sense. Its got tons and tons of text and is a genre that the West doesn’t care about it. It would never sell

    • Luna Kazemaru

seeing as how it wouldn’t matter to me which version they bought and i know a few others wouldn’t might yeah

    • OverlordZetta

They never promised Ciel, though. That’s entirely different.

Considering how many games they’ve brought over (and how many people have likely ignored), there you go.

    • Cheesy12

They’ve confirmed it’s not going to come.

      • http://myanimelist.net/profile/rayxtr Rayxtr

Yeah I have seen it on twitter already. So much for the Gust fanbase.

  • Yaro

Better than nothing but I am bummed.

  • BrokenSkullZero
    • Manny Being Manny

“Re-preoposed” could be something as simple as “Boss, can we release the Vita version?” “No” “Okay then”.

      Don’t get excited yet.

      • Luna Kazemaru

they might be able to pull through tho it might not be the format people want

        • oldgameswerebetter

maybe digital only, would still be fine for me

        • obezian

I don’t think anyone expects physical at this point

        • Six

Anyone expecting a retail copy is fooling themselves. It’s not going to happen.

      • Saddio

        LOL

    • renji00

      Please? :))

  • Hatsuaki

Might just support the localized version instead if it has japanese VO (I want M.A.O). Let’s see what Koei manages to do with the Vita version, the fact they’re trying is already more than what most would do lol

  • http://t.co/hs9uhabkCx nekogenesis

woooo hoooo! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
I was hoping gust would come through with this when i saw that post on facebook yesterday

  • IvanDX

Koei Tecmo are working on a lot of games right now. At least we know that Yoru no Nai Kuni is coming to the west. That is still good news. Especially since Persona 5 got delayed to summer 2016.

  • PhoenixAutomatic

I’m going to expect a delay for the west, I don’t know why but my intuition tells me otherwise. On the contrary, combat looks great and story wise it’s pretty simple but alright I’ll buy it.

  • C4

Was going to preorder both. Probably just getting the JP version now once it’s cheaper.

  • XrosBlader821

    :<
I wanted to play it on the Vita.

  • DesmaX

    Sounds logical enough.

Wonder if how the Vita handles the game was part of their decision to just leave it in japan

    • obezian

      logical how.

  • John Hayabusa

Thank you very much, KT. Glad to play this game.

  • Zackasaur

YESSSS! I have really been surprised by this project and very much want it. I would definitely pre-order to show support.

And it’s Koei Tecmo, so I expect them to be smart and non-abusive enough to give it a physical release for the fans and it’s own success.

It’s too bad they’re not bringoing over the Vita version, though. Odd choice. I can understand skipping PS3. Now I want to see if the Vita version is gimped, or something like that…

Anyway, I can hardly believe how much I care about Koei Tecmo these days! It’s great~

    • Bebop

yea man first this then Ni Oh?! daamnnn

      • estebxx

        and Attack on Titan

        • Bebop

aye my brotha how you been?! uhh…I dont really care for Anime games an shit but ill have to check it out, and by anime i mean Games based off of something else

          • estebxx

Playing MGS V, thats all for me XD

      • Zackasaur

        Yeah! o.o

  • Learii

    no ps3? =(

    • MTK

Guess it’s that time for you to upgrade.

      • PuppetMaster

        This.

PS4 already in the market for nearly two years. People got enough time to save 400 bucks if they really want to buy one. Not to mentions there are plenty of discount or nice bundle too.

      • Learii

no money plus i waiting for 1 GB model

        • Elle

Put money to the side. Take advantage of a ps3 trade in deal. There is always a way.

          • Learii

nah i have alot of ps3 games i not just gona thorw them away

    • Zackasaur

I mean, that’s become pretty standard. You can’t get PS3 versions of a lot of Japanese games.

Blame the record-breaking adoption of the PS4. :P

      • Learii

        aaawww

  • Saddio

Yeah, I’ll just import for Vita~ I’m used to the bullshit.

  • estebxx

i was really interested when i saw the announcement of the game long time ago and the gameplay trailer sealed the deal for me, so im getting this day 1.

  • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

    What in the world…

Look, some have already linked the proper channels.

Go to facebook, go to twitter, let KT know you want a physical Vita version.

Stop whining/arguing about it here. If people could have a discussion without doing that, I’d be fine with it. That’s not even close to what happened.

I’m locking this until I can clean it up a little. I wish I didn’t have to.

    • Revyatheworldeater .

      Thank you

  • Anime10121

    YES YES YESHHHHHU I <3 U Gust/Tecmokoei

  • DeeeFoo

Why are people mad at KT and not the actual developer for not localizing the Vita version?

    • Zhurakovskiy

Because Gust doesn’t make decisions about localizations, this is a privilege of the publisher. AFAIK, at least.

      • DeeeFoo

I see. I thought the developer made the decision since they’re ones doing the actual localization work.

  • YuriFan

Neptunia and this will be the reason to get a PS4.

  • Bobby Jennings/Godless

This is great news. I knew it was getting localized, just not so fast jesus.

Adding this to my library day one.

    • Revyatheworldeater .

I think most recent Gust games have been 6-9 months after JP release.

  • Zhurakovskiy

What a dissappointing turn of events indeed. And here I thought that Ar Nosurge+ sold well enough for what it is (well, they actually said that themselves). It’s even… weird, to be honest. Maybe this is just a trick to estimate the activeness of their vita installbase?

    • Bobby Jennings/Godless

No…it’s to estimate the PS4 installbase.

      • Maxy

Wait, what’s the point of estimating that. Especially since they’ll most likely add vita-version in the end and it looks like they just wanted to see how many people would be vocal about it.

        • Bobby Jennings/Godless

It’s a Japanese game. They want to see how much it can possibly sell on the PS4 since there are so many out there.

          • Maxy

You probably flatter vita a little bit too much if you think that it can undermine ps4 sales that hard. Most vita-users will just feel offended and pass on the game.

            • Bobby Jennings/Godless

No, you’re wrong. I have no issue with Vita, I’m just giving a reason why companies choose to dodge Vita and PS3 in favor of PS4.

If they pass on the game, that means less translations. Most gamers that say they’re skipping a game in reality never do.

              • Maxy

I don’t really understand your answer. I didn’t suggest localizing vita ver instead of ps4 and since they are not exactly interchangeable like Ps3 and PS4, it doesn’t make much sense skipping vita to estimate ps4 base, your logic mostly applies only to ps3

                • Bobby Jennings/Godless

It can apply to Vita as well. Vita is like a little accessory for the PS4 when it comes to remote play and such. How Japanese devs think are like this:

If you wanna play the game on your Vita, use Remote Play!

Also what don’t you understand? PS4 installbase is crazy huge. They want to test that to see how many JRPG niche fans own a PS4 in the US and EU.

                  • Maxy

I don’t understand how you equal vita to ps3. Remote play is an additional perk that doesn’t make platforms interchangeable in the slightest, there’s simply no logic here.
And considering this, vita also doesn’t affect the possible testing much, by now they are separated pretty solidly. Again, vita is not ps3 in terms of installbase exposure and gaming continuity, you simply apply wrong terms here trying to justify the initial decision by inapplicable standards.

                    • Bobby Jennings/Godless

I think you’re truly misunderstanding me and I don’t know how… but lemme try to explain my point much clearer.

Koei wants to see how many PS4 adopters buy this game in US and EU. Not vita, not PS3, but PS4.

I don’t agree with what they’re doing but eh as long as I get the game idc.

                    • Maxy

I understand you but simply don’t agree with this kind of logic, because throwing out vita of the equation is nearly not the same as doing it to ps3. This decision is very out there and whatever their reasons may have been, I do hope they will rethink it with a more clear mind. ‘Cause I don’t want to feel uncomfortable buying other GUST-games in the near future since after things like this I sure will.

                    • Bobby Jennings/Godless

                      Agreed 100%

  • new_tradition

Nice. The whole game intrigues me immensely, so I’m definitely interested in getting it. Still hope a Vita version is possible, but I could always buy the PS4 version later on *shrugs*

  • TrueDefault

I’m more excited for this than persona 5…

  • http://dragonsmana.deviantart.com/ Phillip Campana

Very cool, can’t wait to pick this up!

  • yo1234

This is the lesbian romance game right? eh. i might give it a try. Whether or not i buy it full price will depend on how i like the youtube walkthroughs.

    • Hikari Langley

It’s an action RPG, it’s not a “yuri game” just peeps blowing things out of proportion and overreacting, just stars to females, who have a close bond. If you like GUST games, you prolly without a doubt will love this one also.

  • Martian Wong

2016 is a great year to be a PS4 owner. FFXV, P5 and now this. My ps4 will be busy~

    • Shadowysea Clearwater

assuming ff15 or p5 actually release that year considering neither have release dates and both have been delayed numerous times already and were originally ps3 titles -_-

  • Will John

    All my yes

  • fireemblembeast

Shit, they’re starting to try and shove the PS4 down our throats

    • youngsexynerd

      That is a good thing!

    • PuppetMaster

Isn’t that what gamers wants, that devs/pubs needs to focused on current gen and abandoned last gen?

      So now what’s the problem?

      • Maxy

Because vita is also current gen and people play on it. Circumstances are different and not everyone can or want to play on ps4. For example, I am much like a nomad and I usually don’t have even a small tv where I dwell, let alone a system appropriate for the comfortable gaming on ps4. And I don’t think it’s a reason enough for people to hate me or for developers to shaft me. Especially since GUST games usually sell more or less decent on vita for a digital-only releases. But lately I usually only see inexplicable agression from all around, when I say that I am a vita gamer. People really should have a broader perspective and a bit more understanding of the others.

        • PuppetMaster

“Because vita is also current gen”

          Vita not a current gen.

“Circumstances are different and not everyone can or want to play on ps4”

Yes all of us have different situation etc. But i seriously don’t see what’s the problem for owning a PS4. The library keep growing and the price became affordable especially with Sony already dropping the price for asia.

“And I don’t think it’s a reason enough for people to hate me or for developers to shaft me”

You can’t think this is all about you when obviously devs / pubs also need to think about themself too. In this case KT. You think how many titles they already localized for vita? I can answer it for you: A LOT. But those titles didn’t bring them enough profit like they expected. So it was normal if they start to focused on other platform that will bring them enough profit so they can keep the business run.

KT themself already said they didn’t close the possibilities to localize vita version. Just asked them nicely on their official FB/twitter. But you also need to prepare for the worst outcome and move on if they can’t grant your wishes.

          • Swagkoto Yuki

Isnt vita current gen and psp is last gen?

            • Bobby Jennings/Godless

              No…

            • Brandon Devore

Yes, current gen for handhelds are the Vita and 3DS. There are no other new handhelds out so regardless of what some might think because of the ps4 and xbox “one” they are STILL current gen.

          • Maxy

            “Vita not a current gen.”
Actually it is. Just like new3ds. You probably just… don’t really understand the concept.

“You think how many titles they already localized for vita? I can answer it for you: A LOT. But those titles didn’t bring them enough profit like they expected”
And the ones that bombed are kiwami and sw chronicles, not gust titles, I follow their releases and reactions very close, these guys are usually very open about these things. And by how they handle the situation, I believe that it’s pretty obvious that money wasn’t the deciding factor in the initial decision.

            “But i seriously don’t see what’s the problem for owning a PS4.”
Didn’t I literally just explain it though? Portables and home consoles are not interchangeable. That’s what I meant by being more understanding, you simply decided to ignore my points and go on about same old stereotypes.

“Just asked them nicely on their official FB/twitter”
I did, of course. And by how many people also did you could see that this was not exactly “what the people want”.

          • Bobby Jennings/Godless

            basically this.

            • Maxy

So you too think that vita is somehow not current gen? :’D

              • Bobby Jennings/Godless

I never said that but feel free to put words in my mouth.

No one cares about Vita unless its a low budget game it seems lol

                Shit, even Sony doesn’t.

                • Maxy

Well, I just made fun of your agreement with puppet’s silliness since that’s pretty much the first thing he has said, no offence intented. Indeed, high-budget games don’t reach vita, but we can’t say that about mid-tier jap games. Which Yoru no Nai Kuni certainly is and that makes their decision even more head-cracking.

  • Swagkoto Yuki

    I hope vita localization next

  • Yaggyu

clap clap clap thanks koei tecmo for not including vita hell i’ll still get it if its digital

  • meg

im glad this is coming to the west but what about the PS Vita version? is it also being localized?

Folks not getting the game due to it not being on psv/ps3 never really wanted it in the first place.

    • Dead Maid

Or they don’t have the PS4. Have you ever thought about that? It’s the same as those that want Vita games on the PS4 with the reason that they don’t have the Vita.

I don’t have a PS4 and I’m glad that it’s getting localized on it. Cuz’ eventually I’ll buy PS4. And people who didn’t get Vita by now are less likely to get it later.

Well, you are just one person, and even though you may be a part of majority, me and many others feel different. Not a good reason to pass on a still demanded version, I even know quite a few people who only play this kind of games on portable and don’t see much sense in buying it for the home console. Different people, different strokes, same desire to play a game the way you want to.

I don’t own a PS4, and have no plans to get one, nor do I have a means to anytime soon do to it’s price tag; at the same time, I don’t own a Vita, I would like to, but if I did I wouldn’t buy this game for it, as it would be a waist considering the game’s graphics and art.
The only way I could buy this game would be for the PS3, which it is apparently not going to be released for in NA.

Now, I understand the whole “selling it for PS4 helps the new generation”, and “releasing it for the PS3 would take longer and add to the work load”, and I call bull, there are other games that are being released for several and in some cases every console, in multiple languages, and I’m including Steam as well with that list; KT is only releasing this on 3 consoles, and they’re all Sony.

It’s not the problem of getting localized because everyone know it will be. The problem is they choose to leave out a platform from localization.

If it releases on both and the Vita version isn’t broken performance-wise, It’s more than likely gonna come down to this…
Which one of youse gonna give me my physical copy?
(Or physical LE if we ask my more optimistic self)

  • Elle

Gust games must be awful on vita for them to do this. No physical version of most of them didn’t help AT ALL tho (I know I pretend they don’t exist. Poor me and my 4gb of ps1 games…lol)

    • Brandon Devore

I think it mostly due to poor vita sales in North america and the fact that sony considers it the middle child…its there but they dont acknowledge it….which is irritating the Vita is amazing

  • gadgaurd

Well, I simply won’t be able to get this for the forseeable future. Maybe late 2017.

  • Mopec

Maybe I should actively join in pestering Koei Tecmo EU to release this in Vita, even as digital ver. Who knows they will open their mind to bring this to localization. Sigh… XD

There is actual footage of the Vita version now and it looks quite bad. Frame rate drops everywhere (Especially in battle)…Characters are very jaggy….T^T…

      • Mopec

Can you provide the link? I dunno which video you’re refering to…

Thanks for the link… I’ve watched it… Since I’m not a type of person who is nitpick in every smallest details, I still see this is still acceptable for me especially since I’m aware that vita and ps4 is not similar in terms of specs… But since I’ve been growing up with ps1 games like Soukaigi and Megaman Legends, I’d say this is still an amazing improvement…

I’m not arguing… I’m just telling my honest opinions… I’m still saving for ps4 too and wait for some exiting games in it…
