Media Create Sales: 8/31/15 – 9/6/15

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain opened at 411,000 sales in Japan, this week’s Media Create sales figures reveal. It moved 293,600 units on PlayStation 4 and 117,500 units on PlayStation 3.

The release of the Hideo Kojima-directed sequel pushed PlayStation 4 hardware sales to 54,500 units this week, just less than triple the previous week’s sales, and 8,000 units higher than Dragon Quest Heroes pushed the platform when it launched in February.

First week sales for Metal Gear Solid V did not surpass those of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, however, which opened in Japan at 476,300 sales, according to Game Data Museum.

Also new this week is 5pb.‘s Infinite Stratos 2: Love and Purge, which opened at 7,600 units on PS Vita and 3,000 on PlayStation 3.
