Bethesda Softworks has released a short new video of Fallout 4 introducing the game’s character system.
In Fallout 4, you’ll spend a lot of time looking at your stats and items via your PipBoy. Players have seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats (Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Lucky) that define who your character is, as well as Perks.
Perks are skills and abilities you choose when you level up. There’s a new Perks chart that shows all the Perks you can select, as well as the ones you have, that’s organized by the seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats. There is a Perk for each S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and each rank of that S.P.E.C.I.A.L. from one to 10. If you have the value, you can choose it.
For example, if you leave the Vault with a 10 Charisma, you can pick the “Intimidation” perk that lets you manipulate and control other people. There are 70 base Perks with multiple ranks that do new things, yielding 275 that you can choose from.
Fallout 4 is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10.
