Enterbrain has released the first details, trailer, and screenshots for its newly announced RPG Maker MV, the next entry in its RPG-making tool for computers, coming to PC and Mac this winter (in English, too).
Get the trailer and details below.
Multi-Device Support
Develop a game as a smartphone native app. You can save your builds in five types of formats: Windows EXE, Mac APP, Android APK, iOS IPA, and HTML5 to be played in browsers.
Furthermore, while previous RPG Maker releases were Windows PC-exclusive, RPG Maker MV will also be released for Mac as a first in the series.
Choose Between Side View and Front View Battles
Previously, RPG Maker only support front view battles. But in RPG Maker MV, there is now a side view battle option.
Touch and Mouse Support
As it’s required to support gameplay on smartphones and tablets, RPG Maker MV supports touch controls. For example, if you want to move the party, it’s possible to touch the destination and have them go there. When playing on a PC, the tool now supports mouse control, as well as the traditional keyboard and game pad.
Database Item Limit Doubled to 2,0000
In RPG Maker VX Ace, the database supported a maximum of 999 items (including things like skills, items, weapons, armor, enemy characters, and enemy groups), but in RPG Maker MV, the database limit has been doubled to 2,000.
Maps Automatically Three-Layered
In RPG Maker VX Ace, the transparent sections made by stacking upper-level tiles would be displayed and you couldn’t replace them. But in RPG Maker MV, since the program automatically switches between upper and lower, a simple three-layer structure is now possible.
Game Resolution Increase
RPG Maker VX Ace only supported a resolution of 544×416. RPG Maker MV, on the other hand, supports a higher resolution of 816×624. Things such as walking characters have gone from a basic size of 32×32 to 48×48. As a general rule, everything from the previous tool has been increased by 1.5 times.
