Dragon Quest VIII for 3DS screenshots show Camera Mode, Photo Quests

Take on Photo Quests to snapshot rare items and monsters.

The latest set of screenshots from the upcoming 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King showcase the game’s recently announced camera mode.

Players can enter camera mode by pressing the start button. From here, they can take photos of various scenes that are saved to the SD card. You can also take photos with the character you’re controlling, as well as with your favorite party character.

With the addition of camera mode comes new “Photo Quests.” In town, you’ll meet a new NPC named “Photographer Fort,” who will give you his notebook of quests, which you can check at any time. Quests involve taking pictures of rare items and monsters, and famous locations. Some quests will earn you more stamps than others.

Dragon Quest VIII is due out for 3DS in Japan on August 27.
