Dragon Quest VIII 3DS Japanese box art, first-print bonus

Early buyers get a code to obtain Erdrick's Sword.

Square Enix has revealed the official box art and first-print run bonus for the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King in Japan.

The box art is illustrated by series character designer Akira Toriyama.

First-print copies of the game will include a present code to obtain “Erdrick’s Sword” early. Erdrick is a legendary hero often mentioned in the Dragon Quest series. His sword was also featured in Dragon Quest I, II, III, and IX. For the download version, the code to obtain the sword will be available to consumers until September 30.

Dragon Quest VIII is due out for 3DS in Japan on August 27.
