Devolver Digital is bringing Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star, the prequel to Hatoful Boyfriend, on PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC this fall, the publisher announced.
The remastered followup was first released in Japan in 2011, with an English patch released a year later. It follows Anghel Higure, one of the original game’s love interests, who possesses the psychic ability to bring situations in the real world into a fantasy RPG-like scenario. Unlike the first game, Holiday Star is entirely a visual novel, meaning there are no choices for the player to make other than to follow through the story.
“While we would have loved to create an all-new franchise with our friends at Mediatonic, investing $350,000 in bird motion capture gear limits our options,” said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker.
Back in November, Devolver Digital announced that the original Hatoful Boyfriend was also coming to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. That’s due out this summer, the publisher confirmed.
