'Which platform would you like to play it on?'

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Arcade

Sega is gauging interest in a home console port of its Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Arcade game.

In a new survey, the publisher asks, “Please tell us which us the number one platform on which you would like to play Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Arcade.” The options that follow are PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, smartphone, and “not applicable.” The following question asks for “the number two platform on which you’d like to play,” while a third question asks for feedback on elements fans would like included in potential other models of the game.

Finally, a tweet from the Hatsune Miku Project’s Nakanohito on April 15 might be teasing something: “I was shown something amazing by 2go [this Twitter being 1go] earlier that got me really excited and without realizing it came up with a new plan.”

Thanks, Games Talk.

…Why is XBOX One even an option? It’s not even doing that well in Japan, so it seems like a formality to just include it. They should probably be more realistic and have just listed:

    PS3
    PS4
    PC
    Smartphone

They have already established their fanbase on Sony hardware with all of the games coming to PSP/Vita/PS3 and we even have one on PC. I’d include Smartphone as an option simply because of how popular those are in Japan, but putting it on Wii U would be suicide since a project this size wouldn’t work well with Nintendo. They can keep the Mirai stuff going, but the Sony fanbase is still bigger, so the safe bet would be PS3/PS4, imo.

    • desponent

Why would they exclude their biggest fanbase if they put smartphone in them? I don’t understand this tbh.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Because the popularity of Smartphones as a whole is even bigger than their Sony fanbase, lol. That’s why.

        • desponent

Kinda stupid though since there’s no guarantee that they will tap those audiences lol

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Hell, there’s not a guarantee they will even tap the Sony audience if they release it on PS3/PS4. There’s never a guarantee in this industry.

            • desponent

No, but it’s been shown again and again that the mobile audiences are very very fickle bunches.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

And it has also been shown again and again that many things become popular really fast on mobile. There’s just no way to tell how it would go, but putting it on mobile still makes a hell of a lot more sense than Wii U or XBOX One, imo.

                • desponent

Yes, but the odds are against them. I agree about XB1 and Wii U but the no vita yes smartphone thing is just stupid.

Although maybe that one is already set in stone rather than not in consideration instead lol.

                  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

It’s just a numbers game, man. Vita should have been in the list, but wasn’t. XBOX One shouldn’t have been in the list, but is. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking, but putting it on Smartphone over Vita would also probably produce better results (especially since Project Diva games have been going downhill in terms of sales anyway).

                    • desponent

Or maybe it’s the opposite and they will make it on Vita regardless of the poll so they didn’t put it there. This possibility just hit me and it’s probably what it is lol.

They’re probably asking about the PS3/PS4 since they’re still not sure how is the split for this game in Japan. Most games are still tilting on PS3 but it’s been slowly changing.

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I seriously doubt that’s what it is, lol. Given the changes made to Project Diva F 2nd and the improvement on the engine, I doubt they will just ditch all that to simply put this exclusively on Vita. There are a few possible outcomes here:

                      A. PS3/PS4
                      B. PS3/Vita
                      C. PS4/Vita
                      D. PS3/PS4/Vita

Considering Japan isn’t quite ready to give up PS3 yet (and probably won’t until 2017), PS3 is definitely on the table. The real question is… Are they going to try and make this the first Miku game exclusive to PS4 or will they make it multiplatform? I’m going with option A, mainly because I know they don’t want to ditch their PS3 fanbase just yet since they know not everyone has shifted to PS4.

However, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be option D as well since they have been putting these games on Vita along with PS3, so it would be kind of silly to simply take that away now, especially since they can’t afford to cut out a platform as it is.

                    • desponent

                      I never said exclusively though.

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

You also didn’t say it wasn’t. Considering how fast you replied back to my previous post though, I can see you’re pretty much done reading what I have to say anyway, so we’re done.

                    • desponent

I thought it was obvious but okay.

                    • C4

If they’d ask everyone would pick Vita.

Still as someone said they might want to avoid competing with the other Miku game.

        • AdamBoy64

Yeah, I think it would go very well on smartphones.

It will be interesting to see what platforms they decide on.

  • SiXXXtySiXXX

Project Diva on a home console does nothing for me. Now a PDF3 with Gumi for Vita would possibly maybe get me to consider buying the platform again if the Vita 3000 rumor is true (and it’s not a cheap-ass downgrade like that PSP Europe got).

    • Zackasaur

      Gumi would be nice.

  • OverlordZetta

Xbox but no Vita? Okay then.

    • desponent

      They said home port.

But then again, there’s smartphone, so lol.

      • dark-kyon

Sadly Vita can’t run a port of project diva arcade.

        • desponent

yet smartphone could? and no, I know what you’re going to say but if they want the slice in any meaningful number they would make it work on the lowest possible denominator which is probably still weaker than vita (and isn’t really possible to optimize in low level like you could on a fixed platform).

I don’t personally care if they don’t make it on vita but I’d call bull if you cite power as reason yet include smartphone lol.

          • CornSlayer

they ported project diva arcade to iOS? where

            • Boldmonk

              miku flick

              • CornSlayer

                that aint project diva arcade

            • desponent

              Wut?

      • OverlordZetta

        Yeeaaah.

    • Serge

      Home console.

      • OverlordZetta

Is that what smartphones are these days?

        • Serge

          Ouya.

  • Himiko

I’d like Project Diva Arcade on PS4 from those options. It’d be good to start establishing it there. In terms of moving forward with the PD franchise, PS4/Vita would be likeliest & the best option. They can do some interesting things mechanic wise with PS4. I’ve stuck to PS3 for the entries.

  • desponent

I’m not fond of this engine so whatever works for them.

  • Zackasaur

    #1 choice: PS4
    #2 choice: PS3

The only options where this would sell decently anyway… Except smartphone, but ew.

    • desponent

They won’t be able to charge it as much on smartphones though. And if they do charge it lower on smartphones then they probably won’t be able to get away if they sell it at the normal price on PS3/4 lol.

      • Zackasaur

Oh, I would probably anticipate something like a f2p model on mobile.

        Gross.

  • Tetris

why not Vita? I prefer rhythm games on handheld.

    • irfan arif

      yeah vita would be great

    • JonathanisPrimus

Vita and 3DS are probably excluded because Sega plans on continuing F and Mirai. But instead of F being multi-plat like before, it’ll instead be Vita exclusive. It makes sense, since F 2nd going multi on Day 1 didn’t increase sales; it just split them across two platforms.

Arcade ports will likely be their home console solution. I guess they cancelled the PS4 Miku.

  • crazyhunter

While a phone port sounds stupid, miku flick games are horrible but whatever, whose leg do i need to hump to get my ps4 port?

  • Limbless

I’d actually like to see a Wii U version with “osu!” style controls with the gamepad.

Only problem with that is, obviously, you can’t really watch the action while doing that, however you split it.

    • desponent

This will probably make you mad but I don’t think they’re seriously asking people about the Wii U and XB1 version, it’s just there to mask the PS3 and PS4 split imo. The whole industry already knows how 3rd party games sell on Wii U and XB1 in Japan is just… well, what’s the word for more pitiful than pitiful?

      • Limbless

Really we could probably use “Xbox One in Japan” as a term for more pitiful than pitiful.

        • desponent

Hahaha. “Sad” can’t even being to represent the thing’s poor situation there.

  • bloodiOS

Port it to the PS4, I want all that new lighting in the Arcade version together with good anti-aliasing.

  • Ashton Anchors

    PC obviously.

  • CornSlayer

    PS4, お願いします

  • Renaldi Saputra

    XBOX One?
    Do Sega wanna commit suicide?

    • Kenny

Remember the times Sega keep supporting the first xbox? Sega already commit suicide since that times lol

      • Renaldi Saputra

        nah I mean in Japan
and XBox in old days are still stronger than nowadays

    • oOVanHalenOo

They’re already dead to me. Probably for the majority of The West too. All we gettin’ is crappy Sonic games and Project Diva. Yea, how about no. Where is Phantasy Star Online 2 and other localizations?Cheesus Crust.

  • TimRobbins

This series is actually the only reason I’ve turned on a console in the past couple years. PC, obviously. PS4 is probably the most logical decision, but I can still dream.

  • RmanX1000

PS4 with standard Miku gameplay, WiiU with an “osu!” mode, and PC for more JP Games :P

    • Hachiman

      Osu sucks

      • RmanX1000

Different strokes for different blokes m8. I’d still like to see the game on WiiU regardless.

        • Hachiman

But it will be hard looking attwo screens lol

          • RmanX1000

Kirby says hi :P just kidding. I’m just saying it’d be cool as a separate mode. Not the only way to play.

            • Hachiman

              Im ok with mirai gameplay

            • Zackasaur

lol One of Kirby’s flaws is that you’re really just playing it on the muddy 480p/SD GamePad. :P

          • ThePringus

You don’t have one do you

            • Hachiman

              Well duh

      • CornSlayer

        maximum pleb

  • BlueCereal

    PS4 and PS3 please.

  • Ferrick

meanwhile on the phantasy star fanbase side

    • FLOppV

That is all you’re going to get, baka gaijin. – Sega

      • Ferrick

now that you showed that pic, i totally forgot that i should’ve done nagisa’s client order on pso2 lol

        • http://www.thatgamerhub.com/author/moofey Adam Advocaat

Still got a day to do it.

          • Ferrick

true, might as well start levelling Fo while doing so

  • Hachiman

I bet this game will be Ps4 and vita. Or ps3
    Xbox meh

  • oOVanHalenOo

Lmao. Where is the survey: ”What game would you like to be localized?”

    • Unretributed

This. Japanese publishers obviously hate making non-Japanese money.

    • Himiko

You know they have been localizing the Project Diva games as of recent, yes? PDf2nd was fairly recent.

      • oOVanHalenOo

I meant SEGA as a whole. Not directed towards PD games. Where is Phantasy Star Online 2/Nova, a bunch of Yakuza ( Getting Yakuza 5 only thanks to Sony) Shining resonance and many more… ?This list was kind of silly IMO. They already know the outcome or on what platforms PD sells the most on/ should be released. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know this. Its not like they going to release it on the Xbone if 20 people that votes on Xbone versus probably alot more for PS3/4.

If they actually asked what games should be localized, now that would be actually meaningful but they won’t because they’re douchebags and don’t like gaijin money. In the meantime Square Enix, Sony, Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, Marvelous, NIS, Idea factory bathes in my money. Even smaller Japanese companies can localize and I’m sure as hell SEGA could but they won’t. While SEGA keep being bitter and blaming everything and everyone but themselves for failures.

        • Himiko

Oh I see. My mistake I thought it was only about PD. :)

  • http://www.jojosteelballs.org Diego Brando

So like Dreamy Theater PS3, which already happened.

    • Hachiman

Dreamy theater sucks future tone is my shit

  • Articuno76

So… I guess a zombie-themed Hatsune Miku spin-off is all but inevitable now?

  • sunK1D

Sega stop insisting on this vocaloid crap and give us another Jet Set Radio.

    • Thor Mjolnirs

You have NO idea how big Hatsune Miku is.

      • sunK1D

        Stop crying. Ty.

    • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Wow c’mon why not both? People need to stop fighting with other fandoms. =/

  • Wolf Star

I don’t mind wii U (which I don’t have) the sales might not be great but still.
About Xbox.. Umm good luck there buddy. Haha
Ps4 ver of hatsune Miku would be amazing.
It depends which smartphone game it is. Hehe

    • Zackasaur

Profiting on Wii U would be unlikely. Even if they did it, it wouldn’t be by much.

It’s an absolute impossibility on Xbone. lol And probably not much better on PC.

PS4, PS3, and smartphone are the only options here that they would actually pursue.

      • Wolf Star

Agreed, we know how wii U turned out and I don’t think people gonna buy it just for F3rd or something like that. Xbox is out of the question lol, PC you know steam and pirates (Argg Matyes!!)
Ps4 and PS3 and Ps Vita and smartphones are the best choice of fun and awesome :3 I just want Ps4 ver :D

  • Ris

JP miku fanbase has been asking for a Project Diva on ps4 for quite some time now. Do the right thing SEGA.

    • Hidayat246

      “…please be excited..”

      • Ris

        We squeenix now? XD

        • Hidayat246

          “…please be excited..”
          based from sega :v

  • TheDevil

Why is the Xbox One even an option? Oh well, it is Sega after all. They love shooting themselves in the foot, might as well blow their head off.
That said, I’m down for more Project Diva, preferably on the PS4.

    • Guest

      Take the insults somewhere else.

      • TheDevil

That will happen in the very same day Sega starts localizing their games without SCEA’s help and you, Jesse, decide not to hide yourself by deleting your own comment.
        In other words, never.

        • BlueCereal

          She always does this.

          • TheDevil

Yeah, I know. Already got similar replies from Jesse for critizing Sega in the past (even if some weren’t even that serious), just felt like replying this time.

I thought I’d seen it all but there’s always something new, I guess. Someone willing to defend Sega despite them being masters of mismanagement is baffling to say the least.

            • BlueCereal

Yeah it’s embarrassing why someone would defend Sega. Also really annoying how she deletes almost everything she writes just because she is too scared to show herself or have a discussion. Disqus really needs fix this so we don’t see anymore of these white knight guest comments from her.

              • KidGameR

She’s just a coward who doesn’t want to face the reality

      • BlueCereal

        @Jesse lol

  • Nyo_ryuuji

    I was going to vote for PC, but I cannot find the survey link! Is it only on arcade machines or something? ;_;

  • I-e-on

GIVE IT TO ME GOOD SEGA

  • Requateer

I’m not too familiar with the Arcade version of Project Diva. What differences would there be from a port, aside from maybe the control scheme? Maybe it seems ignorant from an amount-of-effort standpoint between a port and a full game, but I’d rather see an F 3rd or other new game in the series than a port with (I’m assuming) almost all old songs.

  • DarthBrian

No link to survey? I want to vote PS4.

  • Asma Asma

    Wii U, thanks.

  • Lalum

PC and I don’t care what else.

  • Sonneh

We all know it’s gonna be PS3/PS4 anyway.

    • crazyhunter

i hope not ps3 will compromise the ps4 version so i rather get a definitive edition just for ps4

  • Mikail

If it’s coming to PS3 or PS4 then maybe someone already made a promises to a devil.

  • http://ryuz4ki57.wordpress.com/ Ryuzaki57

Not sure PDAcd can run on old gen

  • Dennis Livingston

YES!!!!! Do want. Regardless of platform.

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

I hoping Wii U, because there is already entries on Playstation, Smartphone and 3DS. PS4 would make it the first entry on it though.

  • Felipe Ferreira

    Xbox?? PC Sega PC!!
The original ARCADE is one PC, please Sega

    • Victor Wesker

I agree with you cuz arcade version of Miku based on PC.

  • Faucon Bleu

    PlayStation (PS3/PS4) and PC =)

  • Shippoyasha

It’d be funny seeing it in Dave & Busters.

  • Roflcakes

I would love to see it on PS4 and PC! PS4 seems to make more sense, but it would be amazing to have on PC.

  • Hidayat246

    PC/PS4
Xbox only need HALO games sega

  • Fernanda Valdés Lay

    Please PS3!! or PS4

  • NEKO WORKING

    obviously PS4..

  • Elle

How about a Project Diva 3rd for vita. I didn’t really enjoy playing F or F 2nd on a TV (big or small)

  • Zazon Zenzy

Considering the unique control scheme especially made for the arcade game (horizontally aligned PS buttons and fancy flashy sensor bar, heck!), Vita and Wii U will cut it the best for its fancy flashy sensor bar. PS3? PS4? Xbox One? Do they even have built-in touch screen? Smartphone? They have no physical buttons. PC? It’s… actually not too bad. We can have the mouse do the job for fancy flashy sensor bar here.

  • ArmoredBoar

The way the game works, a PC port would be excellent as well as Wii U. Vita could work great as well, but if they could release an arcade controller for home platforms that includes the slide bar, that would be even more wonderful.

  • Victor Wesker

Aha! I can’t believe that Sega finally can port arcade version of Miku to home consoles. I think that PS4, Xbone and Steam can be good platforms for Miku.

  • cyberkinghardy

From past to present, handhelds are the best console to play Project Diva. So from the list, I’ll choose “not applicable” since Vita is not there.

    • crazyhunter

Are you kidding? You are aware the vita will not be capable of running arcade without a major loss in graphics right? If we want to port the damn thing plus features ps4 is the way to go unless you want naked mods then pc is the next choice

      • Ferrick

Its a rhythm game… I don’t think graphics will be the first thing people would care about for that genre

      • AkiraTheWeaboo

They could buff down the graphics at least to how they are in F 2nd. I do t know how porting works, but if they realease arcade for PsVita there’s no doubt there would be some changes made, no doubt about it. I agree, that it being a rhythm game, the graphics aren’t the most important part. I’d still love it if we could make the modules as they are in the latest Project DIVA, or possibly even better if possible without crashing or not being capable on a Vita. Another thing is that they would have to make target changes if it were to be on a Ps4 or Xbox One due to the slide bar in Future Tone and such. The Vita and WiiU have a touch screen requiring no need for special remotes for the consoles or changing the slide bar targets to maybe scratch notes or so.
What I’m saying is if this game happens and doesn’t make it onto PsVita, I am going to cry

  • Victor Wesker

    Why not PS4?

  • Danilo Fernandes

Of course that needs to be released for the PS4. Project Diva is a series with the Playstation face.

  • Danilo Fernandes

Release this game for Xbox One is to ask to take a big loss. Xbox owners are only interested in US mindless games.

  • luggage lad

Where do we access this Survey?

  • Rizky Satria Darmawan

    i want on ps3, ps4, and pc……

  • SnowVilliers

The poll is in here but you need a Project DIVA Arcade Aime Card to enter the website. I have registered a SEGA ID but it asked me to register an Aime Card.

  • Na espera do Kaito v4x…

    Wii u!

  • http://imgay.com ImGay666

None of you have obviously played the arcade version for Future Tone. There will be no handheld release because the arcade version plays at 60 fps and boasts impressive graphics and, at the time of writing, 200 playable songs. The 8th generation of consoles would be perfect for this, as they are capable of pushing the game. A PC release risks pirating and licensing issues.

I see no reason why a port of Future Tone should not be released for both 8th generation platforms. With the new slider bar, new arcade-style controllers would be needed.

    I voted for the PS4.

  • PunkishVampire

Please be announced on the Xbox One! I mean I know it’ll be on the PS4 no doubt I’m just hoping for a Xbox release even if it’s highly unlikely. I would love that I’m really enjoying Project Diva F 2nd on the PS Vita right now and would love to have a Miku game on the Xbox.

  • PunkishVampire

I hope that this game comes on to the Xbox One as well as the PS4 (of course). I just hope it comes out on both, of course if anything it’ll be PS4, just hoping. I’m really enjoying Project Diva F 2nd on my PS Vita, best rhythm game I’ve ever played to this day. So just hoping, fingers crossed!

  • TJD_DANCER

I hope this game comes out on the PS3. Where can I vote?

  • Rito

I would like to see this on Next Gen consles only because the project diva F and F 2nd were both on PS3 and PS Vita only So why not just make it for PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U. Its for the Best for this title XD

  • Rex

    PS4 PC

  • Bryan

    No Vita option?
