In Zettai Geigeki: Metropolis Defenders, Acquire‘s upcoming PlayStation 3 and PS Vita strategy games, players will defend the city from giant enemies using a three-phase system.
Get the details below.
■ Basic System
Three Phases
- Intercept Phase – Repel the enemies drawing near.
- Victory Phase – You get resources and citizens by winning against the enemy, technically, not the way you wrote.
- Development Phase – Strengthen the city in order to counter the enemy when they attack again.
■ Intercept System
Players will intercept the enemy via two systems. Rotate the city area itself in all directions for an automatic attack on the enemy via the “Ring Force System.” And then super huge weapons known as “Absolute Interception Arms” can let out powerful attacks.
Ring Force System
A sacrifice immeasurable in the months and years of the last half-century, humanity has tirelessly built up its “Absolute” enemy interception system. In a ring-forming city made up of four layers, you’ll rotate the city and attack automatically via the city’s “Armament Unit” weapons architecture. Through this, it’s possible to intercept the enemy at a full 360 degrees.
Absolute Interception Arms
These are huge weapons stored in the city’s control center. Although they take time to use and need to be charged up with a special energy, the damage they can wreak upon enemies is without compare. By developing the city and successfully intercepting enemies, you’ll be able to construct multiple such weapons.
■ Development System
In your city live two types of units: Infantry, which are tasked with repelling enemy attacks and defending the city, and ordinary civilians. While it’s important to build up Infantry Units to protect your stake, you also need ordinary citizens in order to tax them so the money can be raised to do so in the first place. That means it’s important to build up places that are easier for them to live in, as more citizens coming in will ultimately mean more tax revenue to draw upon. But be careful, space is limited where you can build things for both Infantry and civilians, meaning a delicate balance has to be maintained in order to ensure continued survival.
■ Enemies
Naturally, you can expect to face down a variety of different enemy types, ranging from speedy ones to long-distance attackers and plenty of others in-between. It’s of the utmost importance that you therefore figure out what attacks work best on which types and plan accordingly before they strike. Boss enemies will also appear over time as you go through more and more battles, and their sheer strength merits the utmost caution to take out.
Metropolis Defenders is due out for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in Japan on July 2.
