Square Enix opens Gex, Fear Effect, and Anachronox IPs to Collective
Indie developers can now submit game ideas using these IPs.Square Enix has opened up its Gex, Fear Effect, and Anachronox Eidos legacy IPs to the Square Enix Collective.
Square Enix Collective is a pre-Kickstarter platform, which developers can use to build interest in their products and gain support from Square Enix, if the idea is well supported by the community.
The opening of these three IPs means developers can now submit project ideas in the Gex, Fear Effect, and Anachronox universes. If the idea makes it through approval and is eventually funded via Kickstarter or a similar platform, Square Enix will take five percent of the crowd funds and charge a 10 percent license fee for use of the IP. It will also have some involvement in the direction of development, but promises to make sure “the game that’s released is the game that’s promised.”
