Sony Computer Entertainment will release a Bloodborne PlayStation 4 bundle in Europe alongside the game’s launch on March 25, the company announced.
The bundle will include a copy of the game, a black PlayStation 4 console, and a black DualShock 4 controller. If Amazon Spain is to go by, it’ll cost 50 euro more than the standard console.
In a new video, SCE Japan Studio producer Masaaki Yamagiwa further details the game’s Chalice Dungeons. Find the video and Yamagiwa’s comments below.
Bloodborne is a collaboration between FromSoftware and SCE Japan Studio. It’s a brand new title exclusive to PS4. It features an online experience that should be familiar to fans of the Souls series, with both asynchronous and real-time multiplayer features. However, we’ve also introduced online features that are unique to Bloodborne. We have the Messenger creatures that allow you to share messages with other players.
And then there are the Chalice Dungeons, which emphasize online interaction in a way that you’ll have not seen before. The Chalice Dungeons are underground ruins found beneath the city of Yharnam. It’s a vast area with many different levels and layers. The concept we had in mind for Chalice Dungeons is that they change depending on who is looking at them, rather like the procedurally generated maps in ‘roguelike‘ games.
With the Chalice Dungeon, we want to emphasize two things. By introducing procedurally generated areas that keep changing, we can keep providing gamers with fresh gameplay to enjoy, and we can keep offering varied maps so that they always need to think about new strategies. Secondly, we want the players to share their experiences freely.
In games where strategy and exploration are so integral to the experience—just as it was in Demon’s Souls—there’s always a huge buz in the community about how people are tackling the challenge.
This sense of fun can gradually dwindle after a while, but by being able to offer new maps at any time, we can keep players returning to the game long after release. With the Chalice Dungeons, players will always be able to experience that excitement of sharing in communal exploration.
Demon’s Souls fans can expect the same level of challenge and sense of achievement with Bloodborne. In fact, I think the sense of achievement will be even higher thanks to the brutal and deadly combat we have prepared.
We are still working hard and making sure the game is just right, so please look forward to it.
