Following leaks last week, Game Informer has revealed its December cover story to be Just Cause 3 from Square Enix and Avalanche Studios.
Due out in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Just Cause 3 is set in a fictional Meiterranean archipelago. Game Informer got to play “several hours” of the game, where it ” tried out the vastly improved parachute and grapple mechanics, terrorized the latest dictator’s well-defended bases, and soared through the sky with the all-new wingsuit.” It goes on to describe the game as the ‘smoothest’ and ‘best-looking’ Just Cause yet.
Game Informer also addressed the big question: is it free-to-play? Given last week’s leaks showing what appeared to be micro-transactions, many thought the sequel would use a free-to-play model. It won’t. (Update: It won’t have micro-transactions, either.)
“Just Cause 3 is not free to play – it’s a full price title for Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 scheduled for release in 2015,” a Square Enix rep said.
In related news, the cover story reveals that sales of Just Cause 2 have surpassed six million units across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
