Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Game Informer has posted seven minutes of new gameplay footage from Resident Evil: Revelations 2.

The footage features an commentary from producer Michiteru Okabe.

“The Revelations series, internally, is treated as its own IP, in a manner of speaking,” Okabe said. “It exists as a way to merge the old style Resident Evil elements with the more modern Resident Evil elements, with a balance that is unique to the revelations series.

“Some new elements we’ve incorporated in Revelations 2 include stealth elements, things like that… But at the same time I think because it’s not a mainline numbered series, it actually in a way limits our freedom, in a manner of speaking. I think that’s where the big risks tend to be taken and they tend to do things kind of out of the box.

“Being a spin-off series, it kind of gives us a special obligation to really understand what it is the fans want us to give to them.”

Watch the footage below. The game is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in early 2015.

          lol RE ORC had so many returned copies. RE games will sell on brand name alone like CoD Ghosts and any bad year of a Fifa or PES game

            Once again you replied, if a game is returned it doesn’t mean the person didn’t enjoy it, a lot of people trade games in when they have had there fill with them, I mean it wasn’t the best if games but heroes mode was a laugh with friends. Just look forward to the game and if you don’t like it move on.

                they do, but they opted not to reuse them and fans contacted Julia Voth (said model) about it when it happened and she was taken aback since she mentioned no one from Capcom even informed her. So she replied saying contact Capcom and complain if you want her back but we all know how that goes… :P

      It’s literally the same game, just with updated graphics. Didn’t play it myself but I was watching others play.

        The only thing that seems different is thst they added some re6 elements to it but the original controls and animations look exact. I noticed those crap hit reactions/bullet penetration right away.

    Was going to play it but the line was taking too long, the demo is easily about 20 minutes. It looks and plays exactly like Revelations but the lighting is good, the environments look nice too, but the character models even on the zombies look bad. By what I saw, if you loved Revelations, you might get into this one too.

        It’s coming out on the PS3/360, anything that comes out on those consoles can come out on the Wii U. I’m guessing they’re lazy enough to think anything creative on the gamepad or perhaps maybe the first one didn’t sell well on the Wii U.

        As for 3DS, no way unless they really do a poor man’s version of it.

    Now they are just taking pages out of Naughty Dog’s book.

        If you want a good survival horror pirate Alien Isolation and then buy if you enjoy it. A:I is slow paced and suspense based. Great atmosphere. TEW looks like a re4 action fest.

      A very blunt answer would put it all down to the cost/benefit balance. Scaling something down for a weaker machine is a much more taxing and costly endeavour than scaling it up for a more powerful one, and as a developer, you just don’t do that with no guaranteed returns. The PS3 and 360 versions of Resident Evil: Revelations sold about 700k copies in a matter of weeks; it took years for the original 3DS game to get to the same point. Conclusion: the next one goes directly to consoles.

      In a sense, this sucks as Revelations was truly a wonderful game on 3DS (provided you had a Circle Pad), but that was probably the absolute best you could ever hope to achieve with MT Framework Mobile. Revelations 2 is based on a more advanced iteration of the engine, which increases the chances of ending up with a subpar port, and not because of laziness on the part of the developers: the 3DS is not a very powerful machine, and performs much better with games specifically designed for it.

        Huh, didn’t know the PS360 versions so that well. I would’ve thought the 3DS version sold well enough to get a sequel. Guess it didn’t sell well enough (though I think you can say it sold reasonably well considering how much smaller the audience for such games is on 3DS compared to PS360).
        Though, if this is the best they can do with the MT Framework engine….euck. Hopefully this is just an early build.

          Maybe not by Capcom’s expectations after the massive 3DS price cut. On a technical note, based on the shaders I’ve seen at work in the videos, my guess is that Revelations 2 runs on the same MT Framework 2.x that powered Resident Evil 6 two years ago. A decent last gen technology, economically aligned to the tiny budget Capcom is making this game on.

          Season pass is 25 bucks, it brings special content or whatever while buying them individually doesn’t. I’ll just wait for retail so if I end up not liking it, I’ll just trade it in.

            Where do you see aging? Her nose is different, she has darker lips, hairstyle is different and they gave her freckles for no reason. Other than that, it’s just a different character model build…

            Capcom just sucks at character model consistency is all.
            Just see REmake Jill vs RE5 Jill (fucked up nose). And there was no reason to give her a Botox plastic surgery makeover for Revelations..

              Makeup? I guess you wouldn’t know as probably have never worn it or been with a person to be aware of what it can do. Claire is Infact older in this game, a lot older and she hasn’t exactly been treat like some princess you and your “perfect” vision seem to want. This is a horror game, not your Hentai fantasy… She is the same model there are more comparisons which further prove this on capcom unity.

              It’s called transition from nintendo wii to Xbox 360 ps3 etc.

              Go get a girlfriend if a girl in a game means this much to you…

                  Exactly you said it yourself, she has aged, Jill that’s different her face is the mutating monster in the series but she has always looked good. It’s also a different art style, and there is an amusing amount of unhappy face art which is another joke going on in the forums.

        Sorry I don’t see her as uglier just more realistic. Which its been stated its harder to make a non perfect face, “old snake” for instance. If you take a look at the picture on the left, its not realistic aren’t all, no blemishes no wrinkles, no changes in skin tone. The one on the right has all of those things, and hence looks more like a “real” person. But its funny thanks to hollywood, gaming, and magazines we aren’t use to “real” people, and thus we think they look off or uglier when they are just more “real”. Just my two cents.
