Capcom seeking staff for unannounced project.

Capcom and Dimps

Capcom is working on a new fighting game with Dimps, Capcom studio producer Yoshinori Ono revealed on Twitter.

“We are recruiting colleagues to work together with us at Dimps studio for new FG,” Ono said in the tweet.

Dimps and Capcom co-developed Street Fighter IV, as well as its many iterations that followed, including Street Fighter X Tekken.

Back in June, Capcom said it was in the “early planning stages” for Street Fighter V. Given Dimps’ history with the franchise, it’s not a stretch to think this might be that project.

If you’re an engineer, CG designer, or planner and live in Japan, you can try your luck at applying here.

so i guess my luck is bad after all :-(

    • Mikail

      are Indonesian or Malaysian?

  • SuperLuigi

Street Fighter 5 (Alpha?), Darkstalkers, or maybe a new Capcom All Stars? Get hype

    • César H. Sandoval

I’d kill for Alpha4 or a new DarkStalkers, maybe even a new Rival Schools…

  • 武神水樹

This is good news, not many fighting games on next gen

  • ShadowFang

I love Dimps, but this isn’t the Capcom of the early 2000’s, where they were simultaneously juggling multiple amazing fighting series like Plasma Sword, Street Fighter, Rival Schools, Darkstalkers and Power Stone. This won’t be an exciting, fresh, new game. Or an exciting resurrected IP (like those I just mentioned).

This is Street Fighter V. That’s all.

I’ll be excited once I see it, maybe. But for now. Meh.

At least Dimps is expanding. That’s great news!

  • Marco Tinè

I don’t think Capcom would be brave enough to launch a new FG series, but nothing would make me happier than them making me eat my own words.

    • MasterSensei

I think they said that they were also planning on making a whole new fighting game so hopefully it’s that… but I also wouldn’t mind if it was Street Fighter V.

(This was either earlier this year or last year I can’t remember (and this was before they announced that they were in the early planning stages of Street Fighter V))

  • Digidyne017

    I sense a controversy in the Force…

  • César H. Sandoval

Great! I can’t wait to buy the fourth version of SFV in 2020 after they get tired of re-realising it over the course of the entire next generation of gaming!

  • 強大なサム(Mighty Sam)

A new DarkStalkers would be cool.can’t wait to see how Morrigan would look like with current gen graphics :D(I know they’ll keep the anime feel in the graphs)

    Darkstalkers :)

  • Eder García

new IP please… or you want to kill ULTRA SF4 early Capcom?

    • Elle

This is probably a bit far off…like 2-3 years off.

  • PrinceHeir

Street Fighter 5, Alpha Series, EX Series, Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, Capcom All Stars let’s go!!

  • Sol badass

I doubt its sfv. Not with ultra just releasing. Either be a new IP or rival schools 3. NOTHING ELSE!!!!

  • AzuNo17

Freedom Fighter I (a 3d action fighter a la gunslinger Stratos. Where the premise is a prison tournament set in the world of freedom wars) and cover art provided by obata takeshi.

    Oh I wish…

  • tokyobassist

Capcom All Stars please. It’s about that time and it’s a great vehicle for dead franchises to get some recognition.

  • Kuro-Law

Wasnt Ono working on a ps4 exclusive?

  • Elle

I want a NEW fighter. No Darkstalkers, Alpha, SFV is coming regardless, etc. I think they still have the talent and creativity to do it.

    • Shippoyasha

It’s nice to dream, but I’m not sure Capcom has it in them these days.

  • tokyobassist

Dudes and dudettes. Real talk. It’s gonna be Street Fighter V. I’m not gonna get my hopes for a new fighting IP or a series revival (although I’ll gladly eat the crow) but let’s pray it doesn’t suck.

I like Street Fighter IV since it’s release in 2009 and still play it today however, after playing many different fighters this past gen, I really hope this game factors in player execution and reaction instead of system mechanics and gimmicks winning matches which 90% of contemporary fighting games are gravitating towards.
    – Ulra combos are a terrible idea. You shouldn’t be rewarding player’s with devastating moves for getting their ass whooped. It’s an artificial mechanic to generate comebacks and doesn’t really promote skill growth.
    – Option selects have turned Street Fighter into a braindead fighting game at high levels of play. System mechanics in this game disregard player’s actually thinking about their next move and the lack of defensive options compared to something like King of Fighters XIII hurt “smart” playing.
    – Condense the roster for balance sake. Please Capcom.
    – For the love of god, put in a damn guard crush meter for rushdown based characters. SFIV rewards defensive and patient play yet doesn’t punish players for never fighting back. It’s stupid and makes me feel like I’m just punching myself in the face for trying to open a defensive player up.

Sorry for the long rant but this needs to be discussed.

One of the beautiful things that contributes to the everlasting magic of the street fighter games in the main series is that every sequel was vastly different from its predecessor. If capcom/dimps delivers a street fighter v based on textured polygons with an updated engine… that will be incredible lame. To make a long story short, call yoshiki okamoto offer him a job, and i am sure he could need one, and create the most graphical jaw dropping 2d game the world has ever seen. They did that before, you know… when games were still about innovations and not solely about market dominance and sales figures.

    • Budgiecat

Capcom needs to release Shinkiro back to SNK for new KoF.

      • Guy Incognito

KOF is fine getting the Mega Man Treatment of bad iOS games for it’s 20th anniversary.

        • Budgiecat

          actually they’re getting a 3D home console/arcade game

          • Guy Incognito

Nobody wants a 3d KOF ever again.

            • Elle

If it’s like Guilty Gear Xrd it can be 3D all it wants.

              • Guy Incognito

Shut up Xrd is 2d no matter what you say

            • Budgiecat

KoF XIII was designed using 3D graphics, traced over, so it could just mean that again…

              • Guy Incognito

                That’s what I hope

      • Marco Tinè

What a good call. I love Shinkiro and his technique, so clean yet detailed :)

      • $3582264

To paint george clooney on the cover of the next kof game? Yeah that would rock!!

        • Budgiecat

          dont diss da classics!

          • $3582264

Hey Budgetcat, its not really dissing i have shelled out a fortune for neogeo games with clooney on the cover. Plus i love the “the men who stare at goats”.

If you haven’t seen it do so, its vastly underrated.

  • Jake_Indiman

I would love to see a Street Fighter V! But after fiasco with SF x TK. I am not sure if I would ever trust those greedy incompetent Capcom executives.

    • Guy Incognito

They learned from SF X Tekken. Ultra SF IV was Capcoms way of erasing the game from existence.

      • Jake_Indiman

Well, yes you are correct. I will probably buy Ultra SF IV, when it goes on sale, not on full price. Still, the term disc locked content leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths. Let us hope Capcom does not revisit it again.

        • Guy Incognito

It’s why when I got a PS3 I didn’t despite having the superior version, rebuy SF X Tekken.
