Yokai Watch is leaving Japan in 2015, Level-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino confirmed.
“We’re aiming for global expansion next year,” Hino told news site Zakzak. “I think it has appeal as a Japanese-ish fantasy. We’ve already obtained approval from an overseas toy maker, saying it will ‘absolutely be a success.'”
The 3DS RPG series first launched in Japan in July 2013 with the original Yokai Watch, which has moved over 1.2 million copies. Its sequel, Yokai Watch 2: Ganso and Honke, has sold over two million copies since its July 10 launch.
Thanks, NeoGAF.
