Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3

Sales for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 have topped two million worldwide, Bandai Namco announced.

The Naruto game, first launched in March last year, sold 250,000 copies in Japan and Asia, one million copies in North America, and 750,000 copies in Europe.

The next game in the series, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, is due out on September 16 in North America and September 12 in Europe.

No wonder EU gets the les

  • Solomon_Kano

It fascinates me that these games are bigger outside of Japan than in it.

      Anime is bigger outside Japan

      • Solomon_Kano

        That so? Huh.

      • Bryce Blalex Douglas

That’s not necessarily true. Certain anime is bigger worldwide like Naruto, Drangon Ball Z, Gundam etc. But anime as a whole is bigger in Japan than anywhere else.

        • Solomon_Kano

I think he meant the Naruto anime is bigger outside of Japan. I don’t think anyone could mistake anime on the whole for being bigger outside of Japan. I hope not, anyhow.

      • FitzpatrickPhillips

        Uh, no it isn’t.

That is exactly what I was going to say.

    • Budgiecat

larger population and more gamers dedicated to playing home console games as opposed to just mobile and handheld…

Perhaps Sega, Konami need to learn this…

The simulcast numbers are still really good for Naruto from what I can tell. I also recall seeing CR promote these games pretty often.

Even if its a simple ad or banner with a trailer link, I could see where it would help.

I can’t say for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this played a role in the Ninja Storm games selling really well outside of Japan.

      • Solomon_Kano

Makes sense. Between CR and the years it spent on broadcast TV in the US, the anime was hugely popular, but I didn’t think the games would still be so big all this while later — certainly not bigger than they are in Japan, at least. They don’t change much, so I’d have figured there’d be some fatigue by now, but I guess that’s not the sort of thing their audience minds. They aren’t looking for revolutionary gameplay, after all.

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Yeah. I can understand, getting to play scenes they love from the anime in the game, or challenging a friend with each others favorite character, etc.

I’ve done that myself. so I understand. It’s sorta like sports games. They sell every year for similar reasons.

(Just like 2K 15 will sell a ton again this year. Especially with LBJ going back to Cavs, lol.)

          • Solomon_Kano

I’ll never understand the sort who can buy sports games every year, but Lebron’s move certainly adds some considerable hype to this year’s proceedings.

  • PrinceHeir

Damn so many Narutarr– i mean Naruto Fans!

Lol it was a joke, i’m glad the series is still going strong though didn’t the author said the final battle is getting near?

  • Invisbin

The boss battles do more justice than the actual show.

  • Elvick

That’s really surprising to me. Figured there would be fatigue. Guess not.

I still haven’t picked up the first one. : I rented it and liked it a lot. Never got around to getting it. xP

  • Orichalon Hades

this is why we don’t have a new .Hack -_-

    • Bobby Jennings

      Nope, this is not why.

  • Budgiecat

    those numbers are crazy

only 250K in Japan AND Asia

but 1 million in NA and 750K in EU

See, even Japan is sick of Naruto lol

But yeah Namco, (and this goes for Sega and Konami): see, globalizing your games does make you more money…. maybe try your luck with your in house GUNDAM games, Godzilla, God Eater, Digimon and a .Hack now? (and a Yu Yu Hakusho PS4 game thanks)

    • Anime10121

      I would kill a cat for a PS4 YuYu Hakusho game ;)

      • Mnoz

        Do it!

    • freestylinyoshi

Gundam and maybe a Fairy Tail game.
      Full Metal Alchemist ,

Maybe stop making all anime games fighting games. Can we get some more adventure driven anime games?

    • Bobby Jennings

      I agree.

    • Djkarl Pierre

I agreed with the talking cat

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Good. That means Ultimate Storm 4 is gonna have a massive budget. Can’t wait.

    • Budgiecat

      Doesnt need it

  • James Battistella

I’m glad of this, storm 2 and 3 have belissime boss and are absolutely my favorite chapters. The third, unfortunately is not very original but it has beautiful movie, but last much capture full emotion of ‘souls and thus their life only serves to increase the immersion in’ souls: in plain English advice storm 2:03 to all fans of naruto have a ps3, it is really Worth!
