Plus, all Kickstarter backers get Mighty Gunvolt free.

Mighty No. 9

Beta-level Kickstarter backers for Mighty No. 9 should be receiving codes for the Mega Man successor’s beta build within the next 24 hours, Comcept announced.

The company also announced that all backers of Mighty No. 9 will receive a copy of 3DS eShop game Mighty Gunvolt for free, as well.

Finally, the game is playable to the public for the first time at PAX this weekend. Find a direct-feed run-through of the PAX build below.

    This is looking promising now.

  • tokyobassist

Damn that was quick. It begins…

      That guy

  • Brett Morris

I joined at $500 level so bring on my beta!

  • tokyobassist

That Slash Beast throwback boss arena…

    • César H. Sandoval

Yeah that train stage looks very cool with the rain effects and all.

  • Raziel Kõbe

Perfect fusion between classical and X series :)

  • TreizeX

    It looks damn great now

  • Elvick

The first stage looked good, the rest look really bland.

  • Solomon_Kano

Fun as the game looks to play, I can only wish it were actually visually interesting.

  • tokyobassist

Not trying to shit on the beta but wouldn’t it have made more sense to have a beta for the online functionality? That’s something that hasn’t really been discussed even around the MN9 backer forums.

    • Guest

Maybe we shuold just wait and see if they also do one, the game is still not in that stage of development.

  • tokyobassist

The newly released song reminds me of a X7 and the Battle Network series. Sounds very cool yet different from Mega Man.

  • Reki Honoo

I do hope that the beta will be available for everyone later on.

    • tokyobassist

It won’t. It’s exclusive for Backers and PAX panel goers.

That’s actually a good thing because it means people who know their Mega Man will be the ones testing the game out instead of the casuals that bitched about Mega Man 9 being too hard. Last thing I want is a easy game.

Also sad for anyone outside NA: https://twitter.com/MightyNo9/status/506243234813591552 the code only works for a North American 3DS.

I really like the gameplay but feel kinda put off by the 3D stuff. It would’ve looked much nicer with HD sprites or a really cool cel shading look. Oh well it’s never perfect… we’re all used to that now….

    • tokyobassist

X8 had a similar graphical style and didn’t suck.

      • http://lukalovesgames.blogspot.de/ Alkaid

It’s just not very pleasing to the eye for me. And I already wasn’t very fond of X7 & X8 either, sorry. ^^”
Graphics aren’t important to me as long as nothing stands out too much form the overall design.

This for example looked really nice to me.

It’s the same with Toukiden as well. Really like the game and play it very often, but I can’t stomach that they have the gorgous Hidari artworks in the game.. while at the same time TecmoKoei chose to hold onto one hell of a boring (kinda ugly) real-life-anime mix game models (and even more dislike the fact that every female player character model has lipstick on).

        • tokyobassist

I get that. I’m not fond of the art style of this game however if the game isn’t interesting to play then graphics don’t matter.

I dunno. I could overlook how bad Deadly Premonition looked but that game just sucks ass. I don’t care what anybody says lol.

    • PrinceHeir

Why didn’t they added separate codes for each regions?

      • http://lukalovesgames.blogspot.de/ Alkaid

Hell if I know, probably too pricy, complicated or too much effort involved. It could be anything at this point and the twitter lady/community manager never really answers “negative” questions anyway.

      • César H. Sandoval

Blame Nintendo for their region-lock BS.

  • PrinceHeir

    Amazing stuff!

Music really reminds me of the Rockman/Megaman series ^^

I hope they make a X entry for the franchise after this! I prefer even more faster gameplay!

    • http://lukalovesgames.blogspot.de/ Alkaid

      Yeah! xD
I’d love to have a Mighty No.Z/0 in the roster as well ;)
Doesn’t even have to be as cool as Zero, just a little homage would already be very sweet.

      • tokyobassist

I rather them distance themselves as much as they can from Mega Man at this point. All people are doing are bitching about how it looks or how it’s not Mega Man.

This game is Mega Man enough to make me happy. Different enough to be exciting. I’d rather keep it that way.

  • César H. Sandoval

So, a free copy of Mighty Gunvolt eh? sweet.

    • xXDGFXx

Was never gonna buy it, but I really wanted it so this is awesome news.

  • Rafael Martines

And Capcom wasting their time bringin X4 and X5 to PS1 Classics tsc tsc

    Go Go Mighty o/

    • tokyobassist

Not really a waste of time since those PS2/Gamecube discs are extremely old and there are some of the PS1 classics that are overdue much like Tekken 3.

I personally don’t plan on buying them but having that option now is nice in case anything happens to my copies.

    • AdamBoy64

I just wish they’d waste their time bringing X3 to virtual console.
      So confusing.. they’ve re-released X1, X2.. then X4, X5.

      • Elvick

All the other X-games from PSone were already on PSN. So… Frankly I’m glad, because I wanted them for years.

        • tokyobassist

The Rockman Complete Works (minus 5 and 6) are the only ones on PSN. None of the X games are up yet. X4 is the first batch we’ve gotten.

          • Elvick

            Oh right, derp. :p

      • tokyobassist

X3 is coming in the next week or so for Wii U.

        • AdamBoy64

          Wow. Many years coming.
Looks like it’s coming to Europe too.. hopefully won’t be waiting too many months.

Megaman 7 is coming as well, wow.
          That’s fantastic.

          Thanks for the info.

  • FlareKnight

Looking pretty good so far. Still a long way to go, but it’s a nice sign that people are getting into that beta and able to try some things out.

  • pixxxelz

    Wow that soundtrack its amazing!
And the game looks mighty good too
I’m not a backer unfortunately but i’m definitively picking this up once is out

  • Tyler Rideck

Yuck! Looks like Strider 3 raped mega man!

    • tokyobassist

Loved Strider 2014 but I disagree. That game looked very sterile compared to it’s concept art. This game in comparison looks vibrant. Saying a lot considering I find Mighty No. 9 fairly sterile compared to it’s spiritual predecessors.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

The beta demo made me rage pretty hard. Looking forward to getting mad the whole way through.

  • Jay

Didn’t back it, but I’ll be sure to buy it.

  • Anime10121

  • OverlordZetta

So when are we actually getting this stuff?

I was looking forward to waking up and having that Mighty Gunvolt code, but no dice.

    • tokyobassist

They already sent out the email asking Backers to finalize their bundles (last chance to get physical copies or upgrade your reward tier) and provide mailing information. With 67,226 Backers, it’s going to take time.

  • Alex Loh

    Epic! Very good! Finally!!
