  • RyoonZ

Wow Hyrule Warriors is pretty low. Thought there’s a lot of hype in Japan. Tecmo Koei must be really happy with the result.

    • MyBodyIsReady

There aren’t a lot of Wii U’s out there, I think it did okay considering. People who really thought this would shift massive amounts of Wii U’s were kidding themselves. Just look Mario Kart 8, which is likely to be the biggest seller the Wii U will ever have

Edit: Not trying to hate on the Wii U here, just can’t see a particularly bright future for it in Japan.

    • Luna Kazemaru

IMO i think it was more hyped in the west tho lol

      • antithesis

I’m curious as how that will do. For some reason there are a lot of people (at least over at Kotaku and Joystiq) out there under this weird impression Hyrule Warrior is more of a Zelda game than a Warrior game with a Zelda theme.

And as far as I know, most people dislike Warriors game.

    • OlimacFTW

At least it did better than any Musou debut so far…

      • LennoG

        These numbers bet to differ:

        [PS3] Samurai Warriors 4 (Tecmo Koei, 03/20/14) – 120,452 (New)
        [PS3] Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (Tecmo Koei, 09/26/13) – 80,498 (New)
        [PS3] Dynasty Warriors 8 (Tecmo Koei, 02/28/13) – 203,224 (New)
[PS3] Shin Gundam Musou (Namco Bandai, 12/19/13) – 126,019 (New)
        [PS3] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 (Namco Bandai, 03/21/13) – 274,625 (New)

Unless you meant musou titles debut on the WiiU then yeah.

        • OlimacFTW

A shame you don’t investigate long enough…That’s why I wrote “any”.

          Samurai Warriors Chronicles (3DS) 43,044
          Samurai Warriors Chronicles 2nd (3DS) 35,806
          Dynasty Warriors VS (3DS) 15,607

One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 (PSV) 54,509
Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn (PSV) 44,889
          Samuari Warriors 4 (PSV) 43,545
          Dynasty Warriors Next (PSV) 32,044
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (PSV) 24,825
Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition (PSV) 11,627

          Hyrule Warriors (WiiU) 78,773
Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 (WiiU) 6,214
Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper (WiiU) 6,184

Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition (PS4) 13,576
          Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (PS4) 7,129

          • LennoG

Well, you said it did better than any Musou debut so far, doesn’t it basically mean “it did better compared to any of the Musou tittles that has been released fo far?” Maybe I’m wrong, since English isn’t my 1st language and maybe some words have different meaning when they are used in different situation.

Anyway, most of those examples are sales from multiplat titles, which come out the same day as the one I listed above. Considering debut of the titles and not debut on 1 specific system, I would say most of them has better debut number than Hyrule.

            • Solomon_Kano

English is my first language and that’s how I’d have read that as well. It would have been better phrased as “It did better than some Musou debuts” or just saying that it just isn’t the worst debut.

              • -Misaki-

Or maybe he/she missed an ‘M’ in ‘any’

  • Renaldi Saputra

well, I guess I gotta say it again
    youkai watch stronk

  • Guest

SK2 is dying. Hyrule Warriors is meh. As expected ‘4x more sales than last year’ claim is still low number for Wii U. LOL

  • Vayne

Ultra Street Fighter IV it was to have mega sales, what happened with Japan!

  • Luna Kazemaru

lol Yokai Watch its like nothing is stopping this beast huh?

  • Manny Being Manny

Wii U is officially dead in Japan. If a Zelda Musou game can’t push sales nothing can.

    • papermario

Wii U is selling x3 times what the next selling console is. Sounds great.

    • garf02

the PS4 is a rotting corpse that stinks?

      • MyBodyIsReady

Wii u releases – Hyrule warriors, New super mario bros U, Super mario 3D land, wonderful 101, Zelda WW, Mario kart 8

        Ps4 releases – Knack

You see my point? Games like Bloodborne, Final fantasy, Kingdom hearts and The evil ect within all have yet to come out

Saying that I don’t think the PS4 will sell much more than the Wii U in the long run

        • papermario

PS4 has had Yakuza, and other Japanese games and those have not moved the needle. What release dates does FF have?

          • MyBodyIsReady

Yakuza that was on PS3 as well you mean? Gotcha.

And in answer to your sarcastic comment, I don’t know the release date? Perhaps we’ll find out come TGS.

    • 罪罰

japan market analyst right here 2pro prediction

    • Hidayat246

      Wait until zelda RPG released

    • ECM

Yes, because Zelda is a sale’s juggernaut in Japan, Captain Incisive Market Analysis:

*WW HD sold 100k in Japan.

*Skyward Sword, on the Wii’s massive userbase, sold about 400k, all told, in Japan.

*A Link Between Worlds, in portable crazy Japan, sold about 400k, as well, on a much, much larger userbase.

So, now knowing this, do you have any further expert commentary on the applicability of Zelda sales in driving hardware in a country that likes Zelda, but is hardly bonkers over it like the West?

  • phayroent

Mon Hun Vita didn’t do that well, but it seemed to move some units at least.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      coz it’s online

    • Fefen Ardiansyah

do you know what kind of game MHF is?

    • MrKappa

If Capcom stopped being lazy and made and new MH for Vita then it would move more than “some” units.
I’m sure the only reason the sales a a little low for this one is because it is an old online game.

  • Wanderlei

Hyrule Warriors was only sale for 2 days of that week.

    • Guest

So… Hyrule Musou has good sales compaired to recent Musou titles (on PS3, no less) and it managed to do it on WiiU in 2 days…

      Well, i’m impressed.

    • Solomon_Kano

And that’s pretty much always the case. New releases typically happen on Wednesday or Thursday.

  • epy

Somebody stop Yokai Watch 2! It’s hurting everyone else!

  • Shippoyasha

SK2 still seems to do well in my eyes. Sure, the numbers aren’t as high as before, but it will likely sell the 100k shipment eventually.

Western fans can pick up the slack once it goes west. I just pray a physical version is possible. I’ll still support it anyway even if it’s digital.

Very sad to see Wii U (and consoles on general) suffer.

It does seen like Youkai Watch is cannabilizing the sales at this point.

    • Thatguy

      Yeah, i think YW2 hurt a little(maybe too much?) SK2 sales.

And home consoles in Japan don’t suffer at this point. This is like they are on life support and lost all sense of pain already

  • shogunknight

Yeah, looking at tsutayas sales i wasnt expecting the hyrule warriors to move past 100k, still a good start. WiiU and Vitas numbers are good though

  • iron maiden 74

  • iron maiden 74

I see difficult that Sony finished this year selling more software or hardware that Nintendo this year till the arrival of the holidays Japan will be territory of the large N with the arrival of Bayonetta and Smash Bros I do not see who stops selling desktop portable and has a virtual monopoly.

  • SuperLuigi

I imagine warriors will have more sales next week since it was only out for 2 days before these figures. Gonna be sad if Yoshi beats it next week.

  • Bitterbear

What’s with the bump in PS4 sales if there’s nothing on the market for it?

    • Blaz

Not that big of a bump it’s still under the 10k units.

  • Isamu Daison

We don’t live in Japan! What about sales for North America and Europe? Hello?

  • Luna Kazemaru

the salt about SK2 being on the 3ds is fucking amusing with you all let it go the dude wants them on both handles end of story it has nothing to do with advantage its where it started.

  • Eder García

blame Sony for no more MH in your favorite gaming brand, and yes… since SK2 was announced for 3DS the pervert otaku market is demanding a Vita version/exclusive

  • OlimacFTW

If you think MH would sell better on Vita:
[PSV] Monster Hunter Frontier G Beginners Package (Capcom, 08/13/14) – 21,169 (New)

  • Sal Romano

If we’re going to spam up-votes (seriously, who cares?) and stealth port beg, don’t comment.

3DS got Senran Kagura 2. PlayStation will get Senran Kagura: Estival Versus. If you want to play either on another platform, tweet @kenichiro_taka about it.

  • MyBodyIsReady

    We’re all salty for MH4

  • Luna Kazemaru

idk you brought up that pointless advantage talk for nothing hard to tell but ok.

  • Eder García

all the thumbs up… bots detected lol

  •!/kaishou Kaishou

nice upvote bot yo. No idea why people are so desperate for virtual thumbs up.

  • Luna Kazemaru

  • michel

MH4 is very different from the beginner package of MH frontier G, in every aspect, from marketing to gameplay.

  • Anime10121

Not arguing whether it would sell better or not (I honestly dont care) but Michel has a VERY good point :|

  • novurdim

And it’s actually the best selling version of this game
    {2013-08-28} [360] Monster Hunter Frontier G – Anniversary 2013 Premium Package (Capcom) – 1,695
    {2013-11-20} [PS3] Monster Hunter Frontier G Beginner’s Package (Capcom) – 19,334
    {2013-12-11} [WIU] Monster Hunter Frontier G Beginner’s Package (Capcom) – 3,871
    {2014-08-13} [PSV] Monster Hunter Frontier G: Beginner’s Package (Capcom) – 21,169

You really have to check what kind of game Monster Hunter Frontier G is before commenting.

  • Luna Kazemaru

Which will never happen because the maker pretty much said the game will stay on both handhelds apparently some people can’t accept that

  • Elvick

Nintendo money hatted it, Sony doesn’t do that, so it depends on how you want to look at it. You could blame either. Or… We could just blame Capcom for taking moneyhats. (And being cheap with MH development)

  • phayroent

Funny thing is that Japan devs will backtrack super fast as soon as gamers stop buying for a platform. If the Japanese gamers said they would not buy anymore games from that dev until SK2 was on Vita, that dev would jump the moon to accommodate them.

  • Luna Kazemaru

which none of them had said so takai has nothing to worry about alot of the salt is coming from people who can’t even get the game without importing which is rater amusing :3

  • Luna Kazemaru

    LOL SAL PLS!!!!

  • Elvick

Why’d you have to make it about pointless fanboy wars?

  • Elvick

Thanks for the numbers, was going to ask and now I don’t have to. Lol

Figured that that game would do best on Vita. Always seemed like the place it would do okay would be vita, despite the type of game it is.

  • Eder García

Sony and MS are doing the big moneyhats… Nintendo too but at low levels
