Colorful platformer a PlayStation console-exclusive, LOOT confirms.

The Last Tinker: City of Colors

The Last Tinker: City of Colors, Mimimi Productions’s platformer starring a young monkey boy tasked with saving Tinkerworld from darkness, will launch for PlayStation 4 as a console-exclusive on August 19, LOOT Entertainment announced.

“To be fair, PlayStation rocks because they’ve openly embraced indie developers – and that’s not just PR speak, that’s real,” LOOT product manager Jason Sorensen said on the PlayStation Blog. “This is awesome, because it means that hidden gems like The Last Tinker suddenly get to bask in the console-exclusive glow as part of the PlayStation family.”

The game features puzzles, including one where you have to conduct a symphony, a fighting system where players wield each of the different colors of the world, parkour, and a story about bringing harmony back to the fractured districts of Colortown.

Looking forward to trying this out. Looks neat. Need more platformers. (3D ones specifically)

  • Dede Ogbe

a bizarre cartoon looking platformed?? Am in. Sony seriously needs to introduce more of these.

    • Mnoz

Yeah 3D platformers need to make a comeback, hopefully with crash bandicoot leading the pack. BELIEVE.

      • ShadowFang

They don’t need Crash. Sony’s got Sly Cooper and Ratchet now, boy!… and someday, maybe Jak’ll come back in a real game and not just in an ensemble spin-off like Playstation Move Heroes or PS All Stars Rumble Battle Thing

        • Mnoz

I didn’t say they need Crash I said I want Crash. Ratchet is a close second though, but I’m not a big fan of sly and jak.

It’s too bad that Spyro is now in Skylanders though…

  • McPoo

    This looks p cool.

  • DarthBrian

Cool. We need more platformers. <3

  • HighBrowDrifter

Yeah, screw The Last Guardian…we got The Last Tinker! /s
In all seriousness, does look fun…

  • Invisbin

This reminds me of the games that made the ps1 and ps2 so fun. Might get this.

  • Zackasaur

Do want, and I like the devs. c:

  • Anime10121

    I’d buy that for $15 ;)

Which reminds me… I still need to get Child of light :/

  • Varnes

Welp, now i can’t wait for August 19th

  • MrKappa

Has that Knack vibe to it… probably gonna do just as well.

Oh wow, didn’t know this was a PC only game first. I’ve never even heard of this til now.
I guess the game will pull the same scores again for the PS4 version.

      • Guest

Oh well, thanks for getting my hopes up for not owning a PS4

    • ShadowFang

      How so?

I mean, everyone has opinions and all. But Knack is a brawler while this is an exploration-based platformer. This looks more like it evokes Jak or Ratchet (and their lesser known contemporaries from the era; Kya: Dark Lineage, Vexx, Scaler, etc.). Not to mention, the visual styles are completely different.

I don’t see it. Care to elaborate?

      • MrKappa

Well I never played Knack so I wasn’t comparing the gameplay or anything but rather the feel I got from this game from watching the trailer.

    Day One

      why not Day two?

  • ShadowFang

This does look pretty great, but I wish all the 3D platformers weren’t just downloadable indies. I don’t know why publishers don’t get behind this, or Oliver & Spike: Dimension Jumpers, or Ghost of a Tail, or whatever. I mean, especially publishers who seem to focus on indie titles – Devolver Digital, Midnight City (Majesco), and whatever. I find it weird.

I personally don’t care, but I do know there’s a segment of gamers who just don’t consider download-only titles worth their time or money. They only respond to big box retail games and therefore they miss a ton of the best experiences out there. They’re ignorance hurts developers like this.

I hope the game sells well. I hope it’s been selling well on Steam and PC

    • Zackasaur

Well, Sony made Knack, so there is some interest there.

Nintendo have Mario, but it’s Mario, so it’s zero risk. lol

  • BizarreJelly

This looks awesome, didn’t even know about it till now. I miss the days of platformers like this.

  • Budgiecat

I feel like games like this, Majin, Girl & Robot, Knack, LBP, Sorcery, Puppeteer, Child of Light, Rain, two Brothers, Mickey Castle of Illusion are good but kinda lost and ignored on Sony consoles since Nintendo usually takes the spotlight for quirky colorful games that people flock to.
Well Rachet & Clank still does well and Sly..

Shame cause back in the day we had Crash, Spyro, Klonoa, Jak etc

    • Elvick

Sony doesn’t advertise them. So… they do as well as Sin & Punishment 2 does by Nintendo (ie; a game they didn’t advertise)

Advertising helps, but Sony’s advertising for many years was god awful. They should have at least had ads every now and then with montages of new games released that year for PS3. Rather than absolutely fucking nothing for 90% of their games that year. ie; 2013…
