Final Fantasy Explorers screenshots show Cloud Strife, multiplayer, more
Square Enix has released 91 new screenshots of Final Fantasy Explorers.
The images cover various bases, including:
- New Jobs – The long-range specialist Hunter, the tank-type Paladin, the agile Ninja, and the support magic-based Time Mage.
- New Summons – Shiva, Ramuh, and Fenrir.
- Locations – The base town of Libertas where Explorers can go to take on jobs at the “Union,” or visit the shops and Moogle Ten; the cold and dark ice cave of Tinz Underpass, where Shiva is found; the high cliffs of Diurant Precipice, where thunder roars and where Ramuh is found; the Big Waterfall of Maxon; and the Maxon Forest, which leads to Fenrir.
- Multiplayer Resonance (Co-Op) – By landing characters’ special abilities well, regardless of whether the target is an enemy or an ally, a number will appear over the crystal icon on the upper-left portion of the screen. The higher that number becomes, the more potent things like attack damage and healing becoming. However, if abilities keep missing, the number will eventually trickle down, interrupting overall cooperative flow.
- Transform Ability – After taking down a Summon Beast in the game, players can borrow their powers and transform into an alternate form that bestows them with special abilities, with the specifics depending on which Summon Beast is chosen. The catch, however, is that the Trans Gauge, the half-circle meter under the crystal icon on the upper-left part of the screen, has to be full in order to use it. Once triggered and the transformation happens, the gauge will start to deplete and once it hits zero, the transformation is over.
- Legend Characters – Using the new “Transform” ability, players will also be able to turn into characters from Final Fantasy series’ past for a limited time. Cloud Strife is the first character confirmed.
Final Fantasy Explorers is due out for 3DS in Japan on December 18. View the screenshots at the gallery.
