Short clips from Sony and From Software's upcoming RPG.

Bloodborne is on display at the Sony booth at Gamescom in Germany this weekend. And while it’s playable, only a few videos have surfaced online.

Here’s what we’ve gathered of SCE Japan Studio and From Software’s upcoming PlayStation 4 collaboration.

The game is due out in spring 2015. If you missed it, check out the new Gamescom trailer and details here, and a new set of screenshots here.

Update: Here’s a much longer one:

Flawless game, overcame Dark Souls at all.

  • Zackasaur

Holy shit, Demon’s/Dark Souls cannot compare to this.

I’m so glad From and SCEJ are partnered again.

    • ExTrooperBrenTurner

Oh please friend, don’t tell me you waited until today to pre order the game !

      • Zackasaur

Nah, I already did so during E3. lulz

I just like to mention it as a show of support~

Although, I would pre-order again if they announce a CE…

  • ShadowFang

Well realized, fantastic industrial era London-esque city? Creative & monstrous enemies? Great, intense skill-based combat with creative weapons? This is the game that The Order should be.

Glad Sony decided to bust this out, because From Software’s game is far more interesting.

    • Elvick

Why should The Order be exactly like another Sony game? They are different games.

    • Dasher1572

Except for the skill based combat (that I know of), I believe The Order is exactly what you are saying it should be.

      • Solomon_Kano

I’d drop creative from the enemy part, too, but otherwise, yea.

    • Mar Mar

      More hats =)

    • Zackasaur

The Order: 1886 looks absolutely amazing. Ready at Dawn have some crazy talent.

The same goes for Bloodborne, albeit in a different genre. c:

      • Jay

Yeah, I’m glad I’ll be able to play both.

        • Zackasaur

Definitely! I’ve got the Collector’s Edition of The Order: 1886 pre-ordered, as well as a normal copy of Bloodborne. c:

I hope Bloodborne gets a cool CE.

  • bloodiOS

Sony, please, just give me a bundle~~

    • 武神水樹

Seeing how they’re pushing the game so much it would be a surprise if there isn’t one

      • bloodiOS

Well, Sony has surprised me in several occasions in the past (and not in a good way -__-)

        • 武神水樹

          Ya that’s true

    • Zackasaur

Hopefully! But we’ll see. Bundles become more common near the holidays.

    • Okinodoku

I don’t think there will be a bundle because the franchise is still labeled as a niche game…A niche game with a huge audience…yes but its still for core gamers (and all the core gamers own a ps4 already haha). Its due in Spring exactly like 1885 and Witcher, which is sadly more appealing to the common ruck and that will in theory make more money… Maybe they’ll make one for japan only since ps4 doesn’t sell that well over there and they made a “frozen” one already!? May i remind u that we didn’t even get the Collectors Edition from Darksouls 2 (jap only) .
      One can only hope…

      • Dick Mountainjoy

I dunno, If Sunset Overdrive can get a X1 bundle, I don’t see why BloodBorne wouldn’t, it has a better chance than say… The Order or Until Dawn.

        • Zackasaur

You think Bloodborne has a better bundle chance than The Order: 1886?

          I’m not so sure. lol

Mind, I’d love to see it for both. The same goes for Until Dawn, but that is further away from release than the other two you listed. In general, I love to see bundles for great games like these.

As for the Xbone bundles, a few things to keep in mind:

          1. They’re timed for the holidays.

          2. MS have a lot less exclusives to consider bundling over time.

          3. MS are more desperate for ways to push consoles, since they’re selling less than half what Sony are selling.

          • Dick Mountainjoy

Nobody cares about The Order, even Sony, they didn’t even bother to show anything at Gamescon, and the E3 vid was hilariously bad.

The Order is being treated like a Third Party game… On Wii U…

            Or like the Vita…

            • Elvick

This is so ignorant it gave me cancer,.

              • Dick Mountainjoy

Making cancer jokes while calling people ignorant, stay classy!

Besides, It’s not like I’m wrong, they barely showed anything of the Order at the conference, which says a lot considering they spend 10% of each conference with a big Destiny Circle jerk, and that’s not even exclusive. .

            • Zackasaur

Where the hell have you been?

              Or who is your dealer?

              • Dick Mountainjoy

I’m not sure what you mean, The Order is basically the running joke of AAA games.

The entirety of the E3 Video was showing off QTE’s.

                • Zackasaur

The Order: 1886 looks stunning and impresses at every turn.

It had demo stations and a new trailer at Gamescom, just as Bloodborne did. It also has much higher pre-order numbers, so far.

I simply don’t know where you have been.

And the E3 stage video was the short unveiling of the monster enemies. The playable demo was nearly QTE free. What QTE sequences it did have were exceptionally well done and provided choices to the player. It was quite lovely. It also featured tight gunplay with a very creative weapon.

                  • Dick Mountainjoy

The Order also has several months ahead of Bloodborne with reveal time, and Pre-order numbers are a US only thing. Those statistic are absolutely no show of The Order’s viability over Bloodborne.

Also, your wording sounds like you are reading it right off a Press Release.. .And seriously? Still defending QTE’s in 2014?

                    • Zackasaur

QTEs don’t need defending. They’re great when done well. The problem is the games which fail with them.

                    • Dick Mountainjoy

They were excusable in the Shenmue/RE4 days, but they are just lazy today. You should be able to make any QTE real gameplay,or else don’t bother and just make it a cutscene.

                    • Zackasaur

That’s not true for The Order: 1886, though.

While the QTEs do scripted things impossible in any game’s gameplay, they are not just cutscenes. For example, some present more than one option for the player to choose, such as an adventure game like Heavy Rain.

Furthermore, I always found really good QTE sequences to add a layer of intensity to certain scenarios.

The vaaaaaaaaast majority of The Order: 1886’s gameplay is interesting gunplay (with unique weapons) mixed with survival horror aspects, though.

                    • Dick Mountainjoy

The problem with the QTE’s in Heavy Rain/TTG stuff is that’s the game, a glorified movie with button prompts, at which point they might as well just given you chose your own adventure prompts instead. Hell, most of the QTE’s in those games don’t actually matter, as they either have no effect, or the effect of the story branching is superficial at best.

And in some cases, it mostly just leads to really cheap game overs. Even games that are famous for QTE’s like God Of War and the “Climb on Monster and Kill it” crap has been done in real gameplay in games like Dragon’s Dogma.

While you may be right about The Order’s gameplay, the vast majority of people don’t know that, because 95% of the footage shown is either people talking, QTE’s, people walking slowly and talking in real time, or standard cover shooting.

  • 武神水樹

Who owns the rights to Bloodborne?

    • bloodiOS

Since SCE Japan Studio is also involved, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a property of Sony.

      • 武神水樹

The reason I asked was I was wondering if the PC would see it like Dark Souls 2 but doesn’t look like it

Maybe they’ll make a Vita game later

        • bloodiOS

Definitely won’t see it on PC, at least not during the 8th generation of consoles.

          • Zackasaur

            Never happening. lol

        • Elvick

Why wouldn’t you compare it to Demon’s Souls then? That’s more connected to this than Dark Souls 1 & 2.

        • Dick Mountainjoy

The whole reason Dark Souls exists is because Sony owns Demon’s Souls.

    • MrFinalgamer

Sony. Don’t you remember how they trademarked it, like months before E3?

      • 武神水樹

  • Mikail

it will be my GOTY for 2015

  • pixxxelz

The control scheme was revealed as well ;)

    • vertical09

      Wow, thanks for this.
Controls looks pretty similar to demons/Dark Souls…which is not a problem.
All the more reason for me to still call this Demons Souls 2 ^^

    • dart2087

      Soo you can’t jump. :(

  • BlueCereal

This plays a lot more faster than the Souls games, setting looks pretty nice too.

  • EspadaKiller

Definitely need to get my hands on this game!

  • Azure

Another goat to be added to my list.

    • Zackasaur

      I want a goat. :c

I might get this if I can fully customize my chara looks and spells/skills.

    • Zackasaur

      You can. Already confirmed.

      • KOKAYI5

Sweet. I’m in. Let’s give horror action rpgs a go. Maybe I can make a sexy warrior and cover her in blood. LOL

  • vertical09

    Game looks great.

    Ragdoll physics OP :3

  • Orichalon Hades

the dodging mechanics is great, finally no more ninja flipping or rolling.

    • Jay

Actually you still roll when not locked on ^^ it’s a nice change and adds diversity.

  • Bonn Bo

This game looks so good, it makes me cry. God that setting looks awesome!

  • xXDGFXx

The only one with decent quality footage has the HUD cut-off.
