Dev team promises "best Dragon Age experience ever."

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition has been delayed from its planned October 7 release to November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe, EA and BioWare announced.

“Since we began working on Dragon Age: Inquisition almost four years ago, our goal was to create the best Dragon Age experience ever,” executive producer Mark Darrah said. “It was that goal that motivated many of our decisions: moving to Frostbite, bringing race choice and customization back, improving tactical camera, building a team of characters whose relationships evolve based on your actions, and most importantly, crafting an epic, nation-spanning story that both draws upon past games and takes you to many new places in the realm of Thedas.”

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

They only did this to get it out of crowded as all outdoors October.

Wish they’d moved it to Sept. Nothing much in that month RPG wise other than *sighs* Fairy Fencer.

      • Zackasaur

September would be too early. They need more dev time than that.

Plus, Destiny is going to steamroll that month. xD

        • https://www.behance.net/cobaltcomet KOKAYI5

I guess so. I thought once a release date was given dev time was done. I didn’t think they’d be working on the game all the way to the point of it hitting stores. Don’t they need time to package it, make commercials, and inform stores too?

          • Zackasaur

Nah, release dates are given when development is still going on. Once a game is close enough to a target date and on schedule, devs and marketing agree on a date. If devs end up behind schedule and the publisher consents, we get a delay.

Commercials and store info all happen months in advance and are not handled by thr devs themselves. Discs “go gold” within a month of release… Usually a few weeks at most.

DA: Inquisition probably needed some additional polish.

            • https://www.behance.net/cobaltcomet KOKAYI5

Probably. I guess, they wanted to add more skills, or fix a glitch. Maybe a save file in a certain area gets corrupted if they don’t rework it.

              • Zackasaur

Yep, it could be something like that.

Often, it’s just polishing things like graphical elements and animation glitches. That polishing stage can be really hard to schedule, sometimes. When they polish one thing, another thing shows up. It’s rough.

Hopefully people will stop trolling or stop trolling as much when the game comes out and it running smooth.

  • Comandante Bushido

Good. More time to play Shadow of Mordor

    • Budgiecat

theres no boobs in that game…

      • Warboss Aohd

        only Zuul

    • fyi1191

      Holy crap.
You actually type a sentence without using “bewbs”?
      Salute to Mr. Bushido.

  • bloodiOS

Let’s see how good it can be.

  • Ksatmata

    good news for me

  • https://www.behance.net/cobaltcomet KOKAYI5

Damn. First Batman AK now this. I can wait, but I wanted this to be my main game to play in October, my birthday month. I still have AC Unity but I wanted this most since it’s an RPG.

    • Zackasaur

You may consider Shadow of Mordor.

      • https://www.behance.net/cobaltcomet KOKAYI5

A lord of the rings game? I’ll look into it.

        • Zackasaur

Yep! It’s also an open-world RPG. It actually looks rather fun.

  • Warboss Aohd

another month might be beneficial to it.

not a huge deal, 1 more month isn’t too much longer, gives me time to play Shadow of Mordor.

  • Elvick

Would be nice to go 6 months without a delay.

    • Jay

      Those times are gone…

  • DarthBrian

Pre-orders have probably been low so they’re giving people more time to do it. Unfortunately after the last two stinker games they’ve made, people aren’t falling for their shit anymore and are waiting for reviews before buying it. Fool us once, Bioware, and all that…

    • Zackasaur

Actually, it has good pre-order numbers. It’s even ahead of The Witcher 3 by a good margin in the US (though W3 comes out later, so it’s not a -perfect- comparison).

Inquisition is looking quite good, so the pre-orders are likely deserved.

      • DarthBrian

We won’t know until the game comes out if they’re deserved or not. :p

        • Zackasaur

          I said’ “likely.” :P

  • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

    They better deliver

  • Blaz

Delays are always a bad sign

    • Kevadu

      No, they’re really not…

      • http://hatintime.com/ ShadowFang

        Exactly.

If anyone says otherwise, they’re fools. Not everything is gonna end up like Duke Nukem Forever, especially a delay like this that’s miniscule in the grand scheme of things.

And the worst part? It’s like all these gamers forgot how EA shipped Battlefield 4. Talk about a game that desperately needed a delay.

        When will gamers learn?

      • Blaz

I really hope that you can prove me wrong when it launches.

    • Zackasaur

Are we still preaching that lie?

Jeez, it’s like church all over again.

    • Budgiecat

      EA is a worse sign

    • DrForbidden

It’s just a single month’s delay, which means they either had only some minor issues to iron out, or they just didn’t feel like competing with other games with the same release month. IMO, i t’s only a bad sign when a game is delayed more than 5 months or so.

    • LunarHaven

Delays can be a blessing, making a slightly rushed project a more solid experience, no idea where you got that logic from.

  • CeroSuerte

Lots of big words: 4 years, best, ever, epic.. I hope they live up to them

    • Mar Mar

They’re trying to make up for what they did with DA2.

  • kratoscar2008

Isnt the only race choices human and Qunari? I loved the dwarf and elf races, we will be able to choose our origins again?

It wont surpass DAO if it doesnt have that.

    • Kevadu

Not sure where you got that idea from. Human, dwarf, elf, and qunari should all be playable. Which is more than Origins since you couldn’t be a qunari there.

      • kratoscar2008

I havent been following this game too much.

        Thats great news though.

    • Warboss Aohd

yes, you can be all 4.

Humie (or as i call it, the non imaginative Choice), Elf, Dwarf, and Series Unique Qunari.

      isn’t it glorious?

      • kratoscar2008

        Indeed it is.

  • greenreaper

I wonder what’s next in the line of delays. AC Unity? Hope not.

    • Zackasaur

      Nah, I don’t think so.

  • Zackasaur

Good, now it isn’t out on the same day as DriveClub and Shadow of Mordor.

  • Jay

Who knew bringing something back to what it started as would take so much work…

    • Zackasaur

Actually, this is a lot more than just DA:O.

It looks vastly superior to the best aspects of its prequels.

  • LunarHaven

When I first saw this news I went DAAAMN!! Then I started reflecting on it, Shadow of Mordor and Lords of the Fallen is more than enough to be busy with in October, this is a good delay, I like games being spread out a bit more.

  • sunK1D

This game looks great in the stills but in motion… I’m not so sure. Character movement was jerky last time them playing. Hopefully this game matured a bit more with the delay.
