New details from official website.

Coming off the recent Jump article that showcased some new tidbits about Bravely Second, Square Enix has updated the game’s official website, providing more details about a major new location in the game, as well as more insight into Agnes’ role in the sequel and the previous revealed character classes.

Bravely Second

A city that has long been prosperous, Guatelatio sits at the entrance to the highway that leads to the Temple of Earth and the Holy Land. Home to the Crystal Orthodoxy’s headquarters, as well as numerous villas and estates belong to especially faithful aristocrats and various other prominent families, at the northern edge of town sits the Gate of Faith, an important military institution tasked with defending the Holy Land that employs the “Orthodox Knights,” a group that the Orthodoxy holds in high regards.

When the Duchy of Eternia was in its prime, Guatelatio managed to rid itself of the Orthodox Knights and barely attain recognition as autonomous entity, but with the Orthodoxy and Duchy’s relationship taking a turn for the peaceful, the city eventually becomes the former’s official capitol city, bringing with it renewed construction of the cathedral and a return to bustling life in general. There were plans to hold the signing ceremony for the peace treaty in Guatelatio, but things don’t go quite as planned….

Agnes Oblige

Agnes traveled the world with her allies in years past, overcoming numerous troubles and ultimately driving back the Great Void that brought Luxendarc to the brink of calamity. In the wake of the decade-long Passion Period, she miraculously puts the then-collapsing Crystal Orthodoxy back together, ultimately becoming the only fourth pope the Orthodoxy has ever seen and the first one to rise to such a position in centuries. Not only is she on friendly terms with many important players, but she also enjoys massive popularity with the common people and has put her heart and soul into realizing lasting peace between the Orthodoxy and Eternia. However, when the time comes for the peace treaty ceremony, she ends up getting kidnapped.

  • Valkyrie – Valkyries are an offensive class that do their dirty work by attacking from mid-air and fleeing. As such, they’re especially potent when BP is spent during their attacks. The recommended weapon for them is a spear.
  • Performer – Performers buff up friendly characters by singing them songs, with bolstered stats potentially including, but not limited to, offense, defense, and BP. Given their main role as a buffing job, Superstars are equipped with myriad abilities to get their work done.
  • Time Mage – Time Mages are tacticians who control the flow of time during battles to their advantage. Characters with this job are better able to heal the entire party simultaneously and deal proportional damage relative to the enemies’ HP. Their weapon of choice is the wand.
  • Red Mage – Red Mages can utilize both White and Black Magic. This makes them a hybrid class of sorts that’s well-rounded when it comes to healing and offensive magic, as well as buffs and debuffs.

Bravely Second is in development for 3DS.

    Agnes is back! YES!

    • Zackasaur

  • PrinceHeir

So does this comes out before FFXV and KH3?? O__O

    • Zackasaur

One would imagine. It is a looot easier to make a game like this.

    • Samsara09

This will be releasing this year in japan, and next year in the USA/europe.

  • abysswalker

I just hope they learn their lessons from the way the plot was delivered in the first one. And we get at least 5 new jobs.

  • ShinGundam

The cities again looks less explorable and more like a wallpaper.

    • Zackasaur

I like them. :3 They’re pretty, without feeling like a waste of time or confusing to navigate.

I hate it when towns feel super large/complex just to increase walking distance between the actual destinations.

      • ShinGundam

Super large and complex towns in JRPGs? where?

        • Aidan Gamble

Kanbalar from Tales of Xillia comes to mind

          • Elle

Yeah that was awful in Xillia.

  • Samsara09

That city…it wasn’t in bravely default, obviously. And considering the description, this isn’t something that could be created in a year…Maybe a decade or two. That Agnes is probably between 25 and 35 now,and I refer to her real age,and not the one they put in the dub.She was 17 years old.

I wonder, did Tiz age while he was asleep?Probably not,if he was really in suspended animation. This trope is a mess.Sometimes they do,sometimes they don’t.

    • TwinTails

Not likely, Bravely Default only focused on the capital cities, it’s slightly hinted that this city and Istantar are centuries old.

      • Samsara09

it depends on how we interpret “long prosperous”.20 years is pretty long.
I honestly doubt they will go for the “Oh,this city is over here, but we never visited because it wasn’t relevant”.This is too poor.

        • Zackasaur

20 years is tiny in the scope of a city. lol

  • Samsara09

hopefully we get more news tomorrow and in the rest of the week…this isn’t enough.

    • TwinTails

Damn right it isn’t enough, with the way the website is going, this seems like a Smash Bros. update.

      • Samsara09

hahahahhahaa, yeah!Shit’s gonna get real. This game is releasing this year in japan.

I imagine that in TGS we are gonna get an outburst of information on this game, like it’s title…but I wanna know about the playable cast, before TGS hopefully.

You can’t or shouldn’t reveal too much at once.

  • Jesse

Wait, is Superstar different from Performer, or is it the job’s Japanese name?

    • Zackasaur

      It’s the same.

The article probably should have just stuck with the official translations. :P

      • Jesse

        Ah, ok, thanks. I was a bit confused. XD;

        • Zackasaur

No problem! I thought it was funny.

      • Thomas James

My apologies. I always try to research localized terms, but sometimes things slip through the cracks for one reason or another, especially in cases involving games I haven’t played, including BD. This will get corrected soon.

        • Zackasaur

Nah, don’t feel bad about it, mate! I already figured as much. You do awesome work, and you’ll never be able to have full awareness of terms in every official localisation out there. You exceed your volunteered responsibilities already, which helps to make this site pretty awesome.

  • LordKaiser

I’m glad she is back but.. A damsel in distress?

    • Zackasaur

Worth it as long as she shouts “Unacceptable!” at her captors.

    • Budgiecat

now imagine if this were on a consoles in the West with proper graphics…

  • Mark Lengod

Really strange to add new cities to the same world map for a sequel that happens in a short period of time. Looks cool, though.

    • leadintea

I agree, but I just look at it as you not visiting those locations since they weren’t important to the plot.

    • Shinsua

I’m not sure where everything falls into place on a timeline, but if that (I think it was) browser game occurs after Bravely Default, then it’s the reason for an entire geographical shift in Luxendarc in Bravely Second.

  • Jack Atlas

Wondering if they’ll add a bunch of new jobs. I hope we’ll still be able to obtain the Vampire Asterisk in this game, that was pretty much the only job I used as a main job after getting and mastering it.

  • Ace

Something that I hope is them announcing that you won’t do the same shit over and over again before you fight the final boss.

    • Elle

Only reason why I havent beat the game yet
