2K Games and Borderlands series developer Gearbox Software have announced Battleborn, a new “hero-shooter” for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC that combines “frenetic” first-person shooting with co-op combat, and an “expansive” collection of diverse heroes.
The game is set in the distant future, where the only hope for the last star in a dying universe is a new breed of warriors who must put aside their differences to drive back an unstoppable menace. Players will choose from a “myriad” of heroes and fight together in a narrative-driven co-op campaign, or battle against each other in “fast-paced” competitive multiplayer matches.
Game Informer this month has a 12-page cover story on the new title, which is “packed” with screenshots, impressions, and details straight from Gearbox. The magazine says the game “takes the minion smashing and fast leveling often associated with MOBAs and injects it into an intergalactic first-person battle arena.”
A release date was not announced.
