Plus, a look at the game's new traps feature.

Sunset Overdrive

This week’s episode of Sunset Overdrive news program Sunset TV introduces the female hero option and traps.

In Sunset Overdrive, players will create their own hero. You can be male or female, and all clothing is gender-neutral, meaning you can be a guy in a skirt if you really want to.

Traps are a new way to kill enemies, which mainly come into play during night defense, when you’ll have to fight an assault of enemies trying to take your Overcharge. There’s a variety of traps to place, and like the game’s weapons, each has a “crazy theme” and unique functionality that make it stand out.

    That dig at Ubisoft.

    • Spicy Chicken

For a split second I saw the picture (having not read the article) and thought that was one HELL of an unexpected crossover! :P

    • Yaro

I think the correct terminology for this case is “rekt”.

  • Kobracon

  • kaotron

am I the only one that thought it meant the other kind of “traps” because of the wording?

  • shafiq95

    shots fired at Ubisoft!HAHA

  • 武神水樹

    This game looks really good

    Seems Insomniac is back

  • Zancrow

Fucking wrecked Ubi’s ass! This is why I love Insomniac. Shame it is an One exclusive.

  • usagi_san

Seeing those traps, I want Xbox One for this, but I don’t want to own a console for a single game. Hopefully they have other exclusive that make picking it up worthwhile.

  • shogunknight

    Haha, Shots fired

  • Syltique

The traps actually look like a really great addition.

  • ShadowFang

Wonderful dig at Ubi Soft there. Well played, Insomniac :D

I wouldn’t mind seeing more games do this

  • CosmicNova

I really never got the whole female in Assassin Creed though, the main character in the future is a man, it would seem weird for him to play as a women assassin in the animus.

    • Death Saved

They are the memories of his ancestors/other peoples ancestors and last time i checked we all have female ancestors.

      • CosmicNova

I know damn well the animus shows the memories of the person ancestor, and also that we all have female ancestors. Still would seem weird.

    • Audie Bakerson

People (mostly men) are desperate to push some video game developers are sexist agenda they never consider there’s only 1 palette swapped model (that may have a different head, I forget) is because Ubisoft has no idea how to keep team sizes sane (seriously, there are non-localization workers across multiple continents for the biger Ubisoft games), balooning costs for even basic stuff to extraordinarly high levels (which is something they, and other AAAA devs, should be mocked for and completely unsustainable, but you have to address the right thing).

  • AdamBoy64

Always good to have more options, I guess.

  • Aaron Lee

    …just a costume?

Really, a costume is putting you off a game completely? And even though they’re deliberately taking jabs at Ubisoft (who deserve to be ridiculed) here?

    The downvotes, they do nothing.

  • Warboss Aohd

they were making fun of Ubisoft, did you even watch the video?

  • Budgiecat

you can tell when someone is downvoted if they have no upvotes cause there’ll be a zero on the upvote side….:P
