Nintendo president Satoru Iwata skipping E3 for health reasons
Iwata staying in Japan on the advice his physician.Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata will not be attending E3 this year on the advice of his physician, a Nintendo representative told Polygon.
The company did not elaborate on Iwata’s potential health concerns, but said that “it is business as usual for Mr. Iwata, and he continues his normal duties as president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. while he remains in Japan.”
Iwata will still play an active role in Nintendo’s E3 activities, however.
“As always, he will be actively involved in all of Nintendo’s activities at the show,” a Nintendo representative said.
Given that they’re Digital Event is pre-recorded, it’s likely we’ll still see Iwata making next week’s new Nintendo game announcements.
