Leaked Bloodborne gameplay trailer shows early footage

The trailer Sony was supposedly going to show last Tokyo Game Show.

Before Bloodborne was announced at E3 this week, it was originally planned for reveal at last year’s Tokyo Game Show—or so the rumors say.

Several GIFs appeared before the game’s announcement, however, none of the scenes from the GIFs were shown in the announcement trailer.

A new trailer leaked online today claims to be the trailer Sony planned on showing last Tokyo Game Show, but held out for whatever reason. It contains the footage from the leaked GIFs. But that said, this is an earlier build of the game, and is not representative of the game’s current state. For the most recent look at Bloodborne, watch this 49-second leaked E3 video.

Watch the early trailer below. Or download it here.

TMI: This trailer made me sport major wood. I am totally and completely serious.

  • Zackasaur

    Holy shit.

This looks so much better than past Souls. Dat assertive combat.

    • DarthBrian

And it’s clearly early footage. The game looks much better now.

      • Locksus

Oh god that player clearly sucks at the game

        • DarthBrian

Nah, they just hate fences is all.

          • Locksus

You know, that explanation makes more sense.
            Fuck fences

      • HighBrowDrifter

His movement reminds me of Demon’s Souls running motion.

      • Zackasaur

        Definitely true

      • Budgiecat

the Scarecrow didn’t bother to use his shield…dumb bastard..

and no Batman in sight :P

    SHEEEEIT it looks so good
I’m legit jelly of this game. You can clearly see that Miyazaki is involved.

Do gifs not work with Disqus?

“The trailer Sony was supposedly going to show last Tokyo Game Show.”

See this is what I’m talking about. Sony holding announcements on purpose so they can spread their games out. 2011 was one of those years Sony released a shit load of exclusives. Hopefully next year they can do that again.

    Next Year They Have:
    Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
    Ratchet & Clank
    The Order 1886

I hope Sony has more AAA Exclusive games next year. So far we know Sony Bend, MM, Guerrilla Games, & SCE London are working on New Ips. The Last Guardian is hiding in Japan so hopefully we see something at TGS. Polyphony Digital has to be working on GT7 Prologue. Sanzura Games is working on Sly Cooper 5 considering the post credits in Sly Cooper 4. Man Sony 1st Party is hiding so many games in development.

    • MrRobbyM

Perhaps it’s because they didn’t want to take hype away from DaS2? Who knows. Though that would make sense why we heard rumors of Demon’s Souls 2 floating around right before last year’s E3/

      • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

        Probably Right

    • Budgiecat

      A Godzilla or Gamera game
      Shenmue III
      A Lupin game

      • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

Shenmue III might be real but I don’t know if they’ll announce it this year.

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

I wouldn’t worry too much. As you said, we don’t know what the majority of Sony’s studios are working on.

      – Guerrilla Games (WRPG)
      – Guerrilla Cambridge
      – Media Molecule
      – Polyphony Digital (likely GT7)
      – SCE Bend Studio
      – SCE Japan Studio
      >> Producing Bloodborne (dev’d by From Software)
      >> Developing The Last Guardian (likely for PS4)
      >> They’re a team of 400, so it’s likely there’s more in the works (they’re also working on Freedom Wars [developed by Shift], Oreshika 2 [developed by Alfa System], and Gravity Rush 2)
      – SCE London Studio
      – Santa Monica Studio
      – Sucker Punch (I can’t imagine the whole team is working on inFAMOUS: First Light, given that it’s small and due in August)

And that’s not counting Sony’s second- and third-party partner studios, like you mentioned, Sanzaru Games, Quantic Dream, Tarsier Studios, Clap Hanz, Millennium Kitchen (included because I sincerly hope they’re making Boku no Natsuyasumi 5 :3), etc. etc.

Sony is fortunate enough to be in a position right now where it doesn’t have to announce everything it’s working on – which ultimately works out better for the consumer because if we use LittleBigPlanet 3 and Bloodborne as examples, LittleBigPlanet 3 is right around the corner, and if the PS4 PlayStation Store is anything to go by, Bloodborne is coming out in March.

Not to draw in any heat, but if you look at Microsoft in comparison, they announced a few games at E3 that are a little far off. If ntkrnl, who pretty much leaked every one of Microsoft’s E3 announcements in February, is anyone to believe, Scalebound and Crackdown aren’t due until 2016. And Phantom Dust, given its CG trailer and lack of behind closed doors gameplay showing, appears relatively early, as well. Unfortunately, given Xbox One’s current position in the gaming ecosystem, Microsoft felt necessary to announce these titles, as if to say ‘We have good things coming,’ even though it’s still a tad early.

If I were to guess, I’d say Sony has at least one more big game coming alongside LittleBigPlanet 3 and Driveclub this year, that maybe we’ll hear about at Gamescom. And next year is next year. Like I said, we’ll probably hear more about that stuff closer to release, given that Sony is in the position to do that.

      • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

Yeah, your probably right. Sony is in the lead doesn’t have to rush with so many games on the way. We’ll just have to wait and see. But it’s the anticipation that they can announce anything at any moment with so many studios working on exclusives that makes me so excited. Can’t wait for Gamescom & TGS 2014.

  • 罪罰

They should’ve showed this at E3, gameplay porfavor.

    • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

      Wait Till TGS 2014

      Please Be Excited :)

      • 罪罰

will there be gameplay at tgs > : (?

        • DarthBrian

          • 罪罰

not one more cg trailer, promise me.

            • DarthBrian

              I promise you!

(though I’m just hoping as well, but given that they showed it behind closed doors at E3 and the game comes out in roughly march of next year, I have to assume there will be gameplay at E3. Potentially even at Gamescom.)

            • Jerry Hu

              Yep, they confirmed. http://t.co/bzi0O3HHxW

              • DarthBrian

Those t.co links don’t work for shit for me. Can you post a real link please? :(

EDIT: Never mind, had to add it to my whitelist in the NoScript add-on.

That just tells us it’ll be at Gamescom, not that they’re showing gameplay. But I believe.

            • Zackasaur

              Every Souls game has opened with a CG trailer. c;

              • 罪罰

well this wasn’t going to, but sony’d

                • Zackasaur

                  Traditioooooon~ Tradition!

        • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

It should. I’m seeing rumors on N4G that the game is suppose to launch Spring 2015. And Yoshida is hinting a more things to be revealed at TGS & Gamescom.

  • PhoenixAutomatic~♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪~

If this is Miyazaki-san’s dream game, Absolutely WOW~!! I’m thrilled!! And the epic gameplay just makes my mood so excited!! Bloodborne will be a glorious title to play.

  • http://kougeru.tumblr.com/ Kougeru

My biggest issue still existed. Exact same animation sets as (Demon’s maybe? Havnt played in years) /Dark Souls. Same death animation, same rolling animations, same attack animations. Just feels really really lazy. Sure they got rid of shields which made the game a lot about blocking but after my first playthrough in Dark Souls I never used shields anyway. In Dark Souls 2 I played pretty much like this trailer shows, without guns of course. Since it’s on PS4 I assume it’s a new engine? I’d hope it was. The biggest asset of “new gen” to me is the extra processing power to have better physics and more realistic animations and physical combat. I’m not seeing that in use in any footage we’ve gotten on this game. Really feels lazy, especially with how much money they’ve made with these games. I enjoy the games but unless they do more than just added guns and removing shields, it will still feel like a game from 2009.

All that said, I really do like the new monster designs

    • DarthBrian

Co-developed with SCE Japan so 100% a new engine.

      • bloodiOS

Or could just be PhyreEngine 4.0.

        • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

          Not a fan?

          • bloodiOS

The PhyreEngine is developed by Sony and since Souls game has always been using a modified version of the engine all the way to DS2, I think it’s more likely that they’ll be continuing in that fashion instead of wasting time developing a new engine. It’s not like we even know what version 4.0 can bring to current-gen seeing that no other game is powered by it.

    • MrRobbyM

Perhaps you should focus on if the game is going to be fun and immersive instead of animations.

The fact that you have to be more aggressive now instead of of taking a defensive approach should be reason enough to make you look past something so trivial. Hell, they’re still working on the framerate issues.

  • Locksus

This looks so damn good, even though it reuses old animations.
    I’m so jelly of this game ;_;

  • Kuro-Law
    • PhoenixAutomatic~♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪~

I think it might kill you for MOAR. Well Damn, I WANT MOAR TOO YA KNOW!? :(

  • Six

500+ hours with the Souls games has me screaming. Slow down you son of a bitch! And where is your shield?!

    • MrRobbyM

No shields in the game. Bloodborne is taking a much more aggressive approach.

      • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

Parry will be awesome if they have it

You could also block with 2 weapons

E3 was great for the PS4, quite a few exclusive titles and nice surprises. Also free to play games are stepping it up, I would’ve never considered playing one till now.

My PS3 is becoming less and less exciting, well there’s always imports like Shining Resonance and whatever else.

Time to adjust some of my pre-orders that I’ll probably not end playing

Destiny is really awesome too, to think there’s going to be that and the Division, aiiie

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I’m leaning more towards PS4 at this point, buuuuuuuuuut… My PS3 will still be getting some use at least until November or even December, around my birthday. I may consider getting a PS4 then for my birthday+Christmas.

    • Budgiecat

there’s still some PS3 gaems I wanna pick up:

      X-Men Origins: Wolverine
      toy story 3

      DoA 5 U
      Anarchy Reigns
      Dragon’s Dogma
      One Piece PW 1 & 2
      Fotns KR 2
      SRW Z3
      Sonic Unleashed
      SRW OG Infinite Battle
      KH 1.5

      tales of Xillia 2
      tales of Zestiria
      Shining Resonance
      One Piece Unlimited World RED

      Sengoku Basara 4

      • tokyobassist

Yeah the only PS3 games I’m looking forward to are Under Night, Persona 5 and a strong maybe on Borderlands The Pre-Sequel.

      • MisterHoot

You reminded me of the existence of Anarchy Reigns. Really need to pick that up

      • Elle

If you get Sonic Unleashed, download a 100% save file so you don’t have to find those sun and moon medals in order to advance the game. And you can skip night levels if you want to.

      • http://twitter.com/M_Demolish Demolish

        mmm yeah U R Right.

    I’ll just leave this here…

  • Zukato

I needed to see this. More! More!

  • http://shinsua.tumblr.com/ Shinsua

I really like the idea of their being no shield; maybe it’ll teach some folks to roll better (although I’m assuming this game’ll either have increased player vitality or an ultimately superior roll/dodge than any Souls game).

Either way, even just this little snip-it is pretty spiffy. Also, assuming the character shown is THE character, and not a typical Souls thing where they pick an armor set to show off, perhaps Bloodborne will have a more apparent and player-character interactive story.

Edit: Bleh. Just read the other article: they’re customizable.
