PlayStation 4 version to run in full HD 1080p.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign

Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign will feature cross-play across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, this week’s Famitsu reveals.

Like the arcade version, the PlayStation 3 version will also run at 720p, but the PlayStation 4 version will run at full HD 1080p.

The PlayStation versions will also feature at least one new character. Story mode is said to continue on after the events of the arcade version.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign will launch this fall in North America and this year in Japan.

Thanks, Sokhuo@Hokanko.

ArcSys, why are you so god damn awesome?

    • Budgiecat

Because SNK is no longer awesome

At least one new character? Better be mah Bridget. (And yeah, I know he’s a guy).

Though Sin seems more likely given that he already appears in the Arcade version as a Cameo.

PS3-4 cross play is awesome. A shame that it won’t have all the characters in previous games though

    Sweet.

Arc Systems using CrossPlay? Now I’m impressed, because the last Blazblue on Vita/PS3 doesn’t support CrossPlay

I bet that the one more character is Sin, too. I’m interested in the Story mode, I can’t wait for more info in the future! This is Just too cool~

Updated post a tad with some new details that just came in. =)

I bought “X2 Reload” and “Isuka” on GOG to support this series on PC. I don’t have a PS4, and I don’t want the PS3 version. It’s an Unreal game, it’s probably easy for them to release it on PC. Do you guys think there might ever be a Steam release?

    • Solomon_Kano

I’d like to think that Unreal would give it a higher chance of coming to PC, given the relative ease of porting, but who can say? ASW’s track record doesn’t indicate much interest in having their games on PC, but again, that could be because of the difficulty in porting. It’d be nice to see though.

So do we still have access to Netplay without PSN+ on PS4? Would be silly for them to leave one version free and the other not.

    • Solomon_Kano

I’d imagine you’ll still need PS+, since you’re still playing a non-F2P PS4 game online, even if you can come into contact with PS3 players. If that makes sense.

But that’s just a guess, since there’s not really any precedent yet one way or the other, seeing as the only games that currently allow cross-platform play don’t require PS+ for other reasons (FF14 being an MMO, DCUO being F2P, etc.).

Thanks for giving me actual response instead of being a dildo.

        • Solomon_Kano

          No prob.

        • Elvick

          so mad

          • tokyobassist

Not really. I just know you wouldn’t talk to someone like that in real life. Hence why I called you a dildo. You’re being fake behind your keyboard and monitor and it’s annoying ass hell. You could just be the little cuddle bear you are in real life and just you know be helpful without being an asshole you know :).

That said I appreciate more insight on the subject. I’d appreciate a less condescending response next time.

    • Elvick

That’s not very sound logic… given there are tons of cross gen games with online features already. Where you’d have to pay on PS4, but not PS3.

      Nothing new.

      • tokyobassist

I fail to see how my logic fails when one version of the game is has free online play whereas the PS4 netplay is behind a $50 paywall. To me it just looks like I’m getting the same damn game except one version is 1080p and one has netplay behind a paywall. Heck I don’t even know if PS4’s online service is better JUST BECAUSE it’s a paid service. That’s a load of BS. Paid doesn’t = better by default hence why I’m asking. I’m not going to just throw money at something like a idiot when I’m basically paying more for the same experience as everybody else.

As far as I know Arcsys has decent netcode on all there games so it’s not like the PS3 version is going to be worse.

        • Elvick

None of that has anything to do with what I said.

It’s not Guilty Gear charging you on PS4. It’s just PSN access that’s changed. Which affects every cross-gen game with online. You need PS+ on PS4. Has nothing to do with the game.

It’s not complicated. Calling the situation “silly” IS a fail in logic, because that’s exactly what happens because that’s exactly how the PS4’s online functions.

Why would it be free on PS4? 360 versions weren’t free if there was a PS3 or PC version for free. Even if they were all P2P, or they all had 3rd party dedicated servers. They were all “the same”. Yet…

          No different here.

  • MrKappa

It is nice that story mode will continue on but they better add more than “at least one new character”.
So far I only got my man Sol in the game.

  • Elvick

Finally! Cross play by them. Hope they do it to Blazblue next time.
