Final Fantasy Explorers

Square Enix has released the first screenshots and artwork of its newly announced 3DS action RPG Final Fantasy Explorers.

The game will support four-player multiplayer, and feature classic Final Fantasy series elements like summons (Ifrit confirmed), monsters, and the Job System.

    why not 3ds and Vita?

Remember FFX/X-2 Was successful On Vita.

    • Franggio Hogland

      Only 3DS…

    • Samsara09

Well,if 1/6 of total sells is success, better leave it at that.

      • desponent

        1/6 wut?

        • yuxz13

          • desponent

It’s closer to 1/2 unless you have some hard link to claim otherwise.

I’ll disregard you if you pull vgshitz though.

      • Elvick

I don’t get that logic. Given there are over 80 million PS3s… and not even 10 million Vitas out there. Context matters in sales. Yes.

    • Stealth

A port was successful on Vita. Square has not supported Vita at all and I doubt that will change.

    • desponent

Nah, this is Crystal Chronicles series, a staple FF’s Nintendo traditionally.

  • Limbless

Can’t help but think this thing looks like a mobile game.

    • desponent

Nope, SE’s mobile game looks better, graphically, than this.

  • Elvick

Looks how I imagined it too. Which is like all their DS games, just a bit better (obviously).

  • Samsara09

    this looks good,

  • Luna

I would prefer this to be a single player RPG

  • Aiddon

very interesting; I wonder what other classes will contribute because for now we have the standard Tank, DPS, Healer, Nuker quarter.

  • PrinceHeir

So what about the “Tactics” series Square Enix?? >_>

    • 罪罰

      Director is lost in Limbo.

  • Akari Akaza

Looks like FF III, but with online……^_^

  • ShadowFang

Wasn’t it also confirmed to be part of the Crystal Chronicles subseries? I feel like I read that somewhere earlier today… and it makes MUCH more sense for a Monster Hunter-style spinoff to be part of the action-rpg branch of Final Fantasy than for it to attach itself to the actual Final Fantasy brand.

Though it’s silly that “Crystal Chronicles” itself is still attached to Final Fantasy. THAT should be it’s own brand by now… Square’s “boutique” series for experimental rpg-ish games with a sometimes-multiplayer focus (versus, say, SaGa’s reputation for being experimental single player turn-based rpgs). I wouldn’t mind to see Crystal Chronicles return in a big way; where’s our digital games? My Life as a Dark Lord can’t be the last downloadable title in this series from Squaresoft!

  • AdamBoy64

This is the sort of game I think would be really good on Wii U, as part of the ‘Crystal Chronicles’ series.

I don’t want to come across as port begging, but just – the Wii U could use a game like this. I think it would be amazing.

Obviously the 3DS is the safer bet for the platform, though.

  • badmoogle

I need an official confirmation of this coming to the west before i let myself getting interested.

  • 罪罰

This would have been a good PC game :/

  • tubers

    SE thinks otherwise.

MH, FF, Chibi seems like a million seller 3DS formula.

A hypothetical VITA exclusive Final Fantasy Hunting Game may need to use higher quality assets, more new, substantial, unique mechanics to set it apart from:

    Lord of Apocalypse
    God Eater 2
    Phantasy Star Nova

..hence likely to be more expensive with little return of investment.

In the 3DS platform, they’re probably just gonna have to differentiate from MH.

Who knows, maybe FF: E 3DS will have compelling stylus based mechanics that’s hard to replicated on the VITA and SE would consider a VITA port much less.

  • Gammer21

    Yea your right.
I just hate seeing the better handheld getting f**ked in the a** so much

  • Elvick

Little return on investment? Doubtful given how well others have done in Japan.

  • jugss

Didn’t Gaist Crusher Flopped? I remember it being advertised as MonHun for kids yet it flopped. I think it’s best if Square Enix stick to RPG style than this considering Bravely Default sold better. And aren’t they going to release a G version of MonHun4? That’s really risky if they release this close to the G version.

  • tubers

That’s kinda how I feel too but at least many more would be happy that it’s a 3DS title (since there are more 3DS gamers).

Sucks for me tho. I’d like a VITA Hunting game that uses Summons.

If only Atlus would give some Persona Hunting game that uses summons/Persona along side you. The VITA is capable of doing 7+ allied AIs on single player mission as shown in Freedom Wars.

    Oh well.

  • Gammer21

I hope at gamescon we get so good vita announcements to go along with the ps TV.

  • jugss

I’m not sure about that but I know the Persona Q had a good first week sales. I think it’s better if they release hunting games on vita so that they don’t have to compete with MonHun on the 3ds.

  • Money?Muney??All my luveee!!!

That is Capcom own bad move sadly.

Who in their right mind will release Mon Hun clone…….on the same month???
