Look’s like Sony didn’t send any checks this week . :/

  • MyBodyIsReady

Freedom Wars got a good score :)

  • Dede Ogbe

Screw it, am importing Freedom Wars. I’ll buy it again when it releases in the west

    • http://www.gameanyone.com/DukeVerde DukeVerde

      Waste of money.

      • Dede Ogbe

        don’t care. my money

        • http://www.gameanyone.com/DukeVerde DukeVerde

          That’s what the banks said.

          • Dede Ogbe

LOL are you gonna get the game?

            • http://www.gameanyone.com/DukeVerde DukeVerde

When it gets localized for NA, yeah, of course.

          • http://twitter.com/Sieghardt Sieghardt

Pretty sure that was “Dont care, not my money” :p

        • Ivan Junior

          Ouch.

        • Budgiecat

obviously you dont care. Just like people dont care about your reaction to them saying its a dumbass move and waste, so as they’ll voice their opinion regardless…

    • Renaldi Saputra

it’s going to be localized, why importing?

      • Dede Ogbe

Mixture of two things really, the first is we don’t have a proper release date for the West. Is it confirmed for a 2014 release in Europe? The second being the mistake of playing the japanese demo, Definitely want to play more.

        • Renaldi Saputra

it’s still for 2014 release, only we still haven’t known the actual release date

  • Kuro-Law

    Dat FREEDOM WARS REVIEW!!!

    • Kayseur

I find the demo awesome, so I’m not too surprised. I’ve been playing it for the last couple of days… and yet it only has 2 actual missions.

      • Kuro-Law

Nyc, since you played the demo I have a question. How is the camera when you’re running around and using the thorn. From previews and gameplay its looked a little eh?
But that may be due to the players on their first go.

        • Dede Ogbe

It depends on what control scheme you use. Since the thorn is essential to the gameplay i used scheme 1, and it took sometime to get used to the camera.

          • tubers

That’s true. I currently prefer Dash Type since I find it hard to do Ground Dash Attacks with the Default Scheme (You have to Claw on the right hand).

Aerial physics are floaty so I can still comfortably turn/aim with the Thorn by adjusting with the Right Stick then using my Thumb back to press Circle to Dive.

When using the Ranged Incapacitation of the Red Thorn, I just Lock On first.

        • Kayseur

Just like Dede I used the schema 1, default.
It does require you to get used to it *but* I personally had no problem with it after 30 minutes or so. I find the thorn system to be great and I’m always jumping around everywhere with it.

Basically, the pointer is always at the center of the screen, just like in a FPS/TPS, so you just need to be able to point where you want to attach yourself quickly in mid-air, which is pretty much the same as aiming quickly in a shooting game.

I, too, found previews to be a bit weak on this part, but that’s truly only because the people were on their first go as you say. From the hours I’ve put in so far, I’d say there’re lots of ways to play and things can be highly dynamic. As I’ve stated somewhere else on this website, I’m usually not a fan of hunting game (couldn’t get into SS, Toukiden, MH, only GE was better) yet I’m already loving FW.

          • Kuro-Law

Thanks for the reply, I went ahead and downloaded the Japanese demo and its so damn awesome. It did take some time to get used to but boy I cant wait for this to come to the west.

  • Kuro-Law

Yes yes so happy its not mediocre

  • Kayseur

I actually thought FW could have had as much as GE2, but it doesn’t really matter anyway. I can’t wait for the EU version to be released.

  • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

Looking forward to seeing Watch Dogs sales

    • Dede Ogbe

I don’t think it’s gonna sell all that well tbh

      • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

May be surprised, GTAV did well and the games are similar

        • Dede Ogbe

          true :-) we’ll see. i hope it’s successful

      • DevilMayCry898

That’s what I used to say about all Western Games that release in Japan: Watch them fail over there. Got proven wrong time and time again. And I like that.(Gives me the impression they’re not still going “Western Games Are Shit”)

  • RedSuisei

Wait, demo also got a review score?

  • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

Girls und Panzer had the worst score of all, I found it odd, because I found the game interesting.

    • CirnoTheStrongest

Just means they didn’t have the funds (or didn’t want to waste them) to spend on getting a higher score is all

      • Duo Maxwell

The game looks bad, and I’m talking as a GuP fan. From everything I saw, it’s not even good for an arcade tank game. You don’t see the difference between driving a tank and a car in this game.

Not every bad score mean they didn’t spend shit for reviewers, and not all good score mean they are bribed. You should look at those games objectively.

        • CirnoTheStrongest

Some games deserve really bad scores I agree. And some games rightfully have the higher scores, but you never really know how “fair” the scores are. It’s a really bad system. Usually reading their impressions gives a better idea of what sort of game it will be.
Game looked fine to me, but I admittedly haven’t seen a lot besides the first two trailers (that’s including the reveal)

          • DrForbidden

You have a fair point, but if you actually watched the last few gameplay trailers, you’d probably understand why it got the score it did. I was excited about the game when it was announced as well, but towards the end, I gave up on it as being a pointless marketing cashgrab rather than something worth my time and money to play.

  • Pyrofrost

About what I would have expected for Kamen Rider, an average rating.
Mainly for not being quite as good as a real Musou game.

  • Renaldi Saputra

    nice score for freedom wars

  • Budgiecat

All that advertising and promotion couldnt save Girls und Panzer.

I swear there was like 30 articles here alone on that game…

    • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

Famitsu has lost credibility, there is another Japanese magazine to make game scores?

    • DrForbidden

Yeah, I was excited about that game until they released actual gameplay footage. Based on what I watched, that score doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s just a cashgrab game made with no real appreciation and love of tank combat…

  • DarthBrian

Look at all those games we’ll never get because one company in the U.S. decided it would be in their best interest to sour Western audiences on Japanese games so that they could get a stranglehold on console sales.

    *sigh*

    • Duo Maxwell

Freedom Wars will come out to NA, though? In fact, they even had the English demo at E3.

      http://gematsu.com/2014/04/freedom-wars-soul-sacrifice-delta-oreshika-tainted-bloodlines-coming-north-america-europe

      • DarthBrian

Yeah, one game out of 9. :(

        • Duo Maxwell

Unless I’m missing something, Robotic;Notes Elite also come out in the west. The Vita got a lot of localization recently.

          [edit]
Never mind, couldn’t find the source of the localization confirmation.

          • Renaldi Saputra

            R;N got localized? nope
even the first VN in PS3 didn’t got localized
I never heard 5pb localizing their console VN to the west especially these sci-fi adventure series

            • Budgiecat

              they’re fools

    • Ross

      What?

    • Renaldi Saputra

      only freedom wars got localized
the other games (exclusing watch dogs bcos they’re not japanese games) only have very very slim chance, around 1-5% localization probability

    • Solomon_Kano

      What company is that?

      • DarthBrian

The only one from America. :p

        • Solomon_Kano

So… you’re saying MS is the reason we won’t be getting these games localized? Uh… okay.

          • DarthBrian

            Indirectly, yes.

            • Solomon_Kano

              nvm

    • Unretributed

You’re going to have to explain how MS “soured western audiences on Japanese games”, because that sounds like pure nonsense to me.

      • DarthBrian

It’s a long and sad story. It begins with them moneyhatting JRPGs that they knew no one who they were marketing Xbox to would play. Then those companies figured since they didn’t sell well then no one outside of Japan was interested in those games. It took years for them to figure out that there were fans of those games they just didn’t buy Xboxes. How long did we go without a new Tales game after Vesperia? Like 5 years. That’s all Microsoft’s fault.

And because of that drought, all we’ve had to play in the U.S. and Europe are dudebro shooters and Assassin’s Creed games. No one cares about Japanese games anymore.

        • Solomon_Kano

That explains Namco, but everyone else? Square Enix didn’t have any trouble, nor Capcom, nor Konami, nor Tecmo Koei. They all stuck it out.

How does Namco misreading their audience equate to Microsoft souring the west on Japanese games and keeping a bunch of smaller Japanese games from coming over today? In what way was the west soured on them?

          • DarthBrian

Capcom changed Resident Evil to be a pure shooter to be popular with dudebros on Xbox.

Square-Enix downgraded FFXIII’s sequels on PS3 to have console parity with 360. FFXIII looks WAY better on PS3 than the sequels do. And the effort required to get FFXIII out AND put it on 360 is part of the reason why Versus XIII kept getting delayed.

Konami turned Metal Gear into a shooter with slow-down to react to the enemy spotting you. They also fucked up the ZOE remaster on PS3 while the 360 version ran better even though the game was a PS2 exclusive prior to that. Castlevania is now crap too to cater to a Western audience.

The only people who are doing right by fans of Japanese games are Nippon Ichi, Compile Heart, Gust and Idea Factory.

            • Solomon_Kano

              I guess that’s all here.

            • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Compile heart–ha–ha–HAHHA–HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH Surely you are forgetting nearly all of compile heart games lag like shit at times.

              • DarthBrian

If I were a fan of Compile Heart games I would say that they are great games and just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean that fans of those games don’t.

If I were not a fan of Compile Heart games I would say that you just made my point for me. Thanks. :p

(I’m a fan of Compile Heart games.)

                • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

I never said I didn’t like Compile Heart so please, holster your fanboyism. I was just simply stated that Compile Heart has it’s issue so if you refuse to believe that then…well I guess I made my point?

                  • DarthBrian

But my fanboyism wants to be free. :(

            • SerendipityX

LOL Microsoft/360 had nothing to do with the FFXIII and the Versus XIII debacle. That was all Square Enix mismanagement.

              • DarthBrian

selective reading. I said “part of” the reason, not the sole reason. If there were no Xbox 360 version, then the their mismanagement of the product would’ve been greatly reduced as they would have only had to focus on one product, not two.

Remember, Nomura lost a big chunk of his staff so that they could finish FFXIII. A lot of that had to do with the Xbox 360 version and the extra localization required.

            • Unretributed

Aksys has been doing better for western Jpn fans(especially on the Vita) than those four you named combined.

            • DevilMayCry898

Those four? They don’t do any better than current Square Enix is now.

        • Unretributed

Pure nonsense indeed. It sounds like you should be mad at Japanese publishers for being too scared to make any risk.

You can’t blame MS for trying to appeal to Japanese gamers and trying to secure some JRPG fans in the west. It just didn’t work out.

          • DarthBrian

I can blame them. Oh yes. I can.

            • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owltron

Oh please. Do tell…that is, if you can elaborate on that. Which i hardly doubt.

            • Unretributed

Well then you’d have to be equally upset with those publishers for getting in bed with them in the first place.

On a side note, Is it also MS fault that Sega hardly localized their games? Is it MS fault that Square Enix is entirely incompetent? Is it their fault that Atlus is milking the Persona brand to death?

You can’t just point your finger and blame MS for everything when most of these companies problems are their own fault.

          • Budgiecat

So why aren’t they trying again?

And why didn’t they try with the original XBox?

  • Nonscpo

So Aiyoku no Eustia: Angel’s Blessing got a 29/40, does anybody know what the equivalent would be using the 5/5 or 10/10 system? I’m assuming that’s like a 3.5/5 or a 7/10, am I on the right track?

    • Solomon_Kano

      That’s about 30/40, so about 7.5.

      • Nonscpo

Cool so its not a great game but it is an average game.

    • DrForbidden

29/40 on Famitsu’s scoring system is actually average, since the average is around 30/40. Famitsu almost never give scores below 20.

  • PrinceHeir

    Robotics;Notes Elite!!

I wonder how Date A Live Ars Install did sales wise :)

    • Renaldi Saputra

VN sales are usually being 20-30k

    • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

I want the Limited version for the artbook. :P

  • Ping92

have we gotten any exact date of when freedom wars is gonna be released?

    • http://hatintime.com/ ShadowFang

Nope, not yet. Just a vague “2014” it seems, because Gamestop lists their release date as 12/31/2014… which means they don’t know beyond 2014 yet.

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Sad to see Watch Dogs a little higher than Freedom Wars, but 35 isn’t bad =3=

    • DrForbidden

35 is actually ‘Good’ by Famitsu standards, so yeah, that’s awesome.

  • Elvick

    Want Freedom Wars.

  • Akari Akaza

Watch Dogs score better then my Girls und Panzer, Date A live, Freedom Wars and Robotics Notes Elite….0_0 I am very disappointed…..>_<

    • DrForbidden

Just a friendly bit of advice: it’s ‘disappointed’, not ‘disappointing’ in the context you are using. ‘Disappointing’ in the context you are using would have negative connotations for yourself… :)

      • Akari Akaza

        Thanks for correcting my error….^_^

  • http://hatintime.com/ ShadowFang

Sort of surprised that Watch_Dogs scored better than Freedom Wars (even if just by a point)… but then again, I can’t imagine a non open-world game having the scope/ambition/size of an open world game like Watch_Dogs. Usually, it should win… but not in Famitsu. Feels wrong. BUT Freedom Wars looks neat and I’m glad it scored well regardless! Hope to pick up a Playstation TV to play it!

  • Limbless

These scores aren’t actually out of ten(/forty), are they? They’re out of five(/twenty), starting from five(/twenty).

  • Mikail

lol where is Watch Dog Xbox One review? ^_^
