The Order: 1886

The Order: 1886, Ready at Dawn’s upcoming Victorian era London-set third-person shooter for PlayStation 4, has been delayed from its planned 2014 release to early 2015, Sony announced.

“As we look to bring this experience to the players, we have decided to spend some extra time to deliver on the promise we made when we first introduced the game,” Ready At Dawn boss Ru Weerasuriya said. “As such, you can expect The Order: 1886 to come exclusively to the PlayStation 4 in early 2015.”

Several new previews have gone up, offering a generally positive outlook on the upcoming PlayStation 4 game. Choose your poison: CVG, Eurogamer, Game Informer, PlayStation Blog, or Polygon.

Thermite Rifle and New Gameplay

  • Arcloxs

Some game jornalists who went to judges week have come out and said a lot of games are being pushed back to 2015, guess this is the first one

    • Lynx

They pulled a Versus/Last Guardian. They announced most of them too early then.

  • TetsuyaHikari

Well, that settles it then. I guess if I don’t see anything nice before the end of the year, possibly at TGS in September, I’ll just wait on getting a PS4 until 2015.

  • RyoonZ

Only DriveClub for holiday? C’mon son!

    • 罪罰

There’s other games, just not exclusives.

  • pekot

Now sony must have something in 2014
    Uncharted 4 more than enough

  • Zackasaur

That’s fine. Great devs should get the time that they need.

I’m glad that I’ve pre-ordered. Definitely looking forward to this one. c:

  • CeroSuerte

First Division now this, i would not be surprised if Deep Down followed them, hell even dragon age inquisition might need some unexpected “improvement”

I gotta say that slow motion was dope, i am always been a sucker for that, as long as they don’t abuse it

  • Ksatmata

    PS4, console of delay

    • Zackasaur

      Every console has delay.

In fact, I highly doubt the PS4 will half-match the PS3’s record on the matter.

    • Mar Mar

I wonder how Sony will make up for this announcement in E3.

  • True Gamer

I cant say that im not disappointed. However, a game like this I want them to take their time, it looks very interesting thus far.

  • Mexcomesback

Couldn’t care less, gonna get it when it’s cheap.

  • 罪罰

Looks like 2015 will be the year to buy a PS4.

    • Mexcomesback

Yup, sadly i got one and i only use it for Netflix :/

      • 罪罰

        Mexican Netflix? Oh dios mio.

    • Budgiecat

Meh I’m fine with it. Backlogged on PS3 games and still playing through some PS2 games. I’m in no rush..

    • Zackasaur

That depends on one’s interests, but that’s certainly the case for some.

I’m glad I already have mine, given what I actively play.

    • AdamBoy64

      Yeah, it’s looking that way.
Might reconsider it in a year.

Could have an X1 by then though.

  • Unretributed

Raise your hand if you never trust the release windows for big budget western games and already saw this coming.

    *raises hand*

    • Zackasaur

      Western? How about all. :P

But that’s okay. I prefer an environment where devs get the time they need.

  • shogunknight

I dont really trust that ‘early 20xx’ statement. They should try to give a precise date/month. Driveclub was supposedly early 2014 before and look when its coming now.

Edit: Game looks gorgeous by the way

  • Zefhar

*sigh* just make it a FUN game and everything’s fine. Don’t delay it only for eyecandy purposes; it looks pretty already.

  • DarthBrian

I dislike it when bad rumors are true. :(

  • VaultBreaker

The Order:1886 gameplay doesn’t attract me at all.And I don’t really care about the movie to game seamless transition thing. But hell the atmosphere and setting are intriguing.

  • confused_wanderer

This seems to be a recurring theme. I’m wondering if Sony might have purposely announced the release dates for driveclub and The Order:1886 earlier then they should have just so they could get more early adopters to buy their console. If so I’m quite sad cause I am one of those early adopters. Also even ubisoft delayed Watch dogs and the good folks over at CD Projekt Red delayed The Wither 3. I mean these are big companies with alot of smart people there, so I’m just alittle confused as to why this is happening.

    • Invisbin

Sony had nothing to do with the delays. RaD just gave you their reason lol…why are you looking for hidden messages.

      • confused_wanderer

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. All I meant was that why would they announce a game so early, just to end up pushing it back later. Yes I know they gave a reason, but I’m sure that all reasons for delay are similar in nature, i.e wanted to make the game as we initially envisioned it etc….

        • Zackasaur

The reason reasons for delays are similar is because delays are commonly caused by the same issue: Not being done.

Games are massive projects and can be very hard to schedule, yet they have to be scheduled eventually. Often, developers cannot meet the deadline. A good publisher will then delay.

  • bloodiOS

    *Sigh* Screen-tearing…

    • BossTuff

Yea I think that’s the stream more than anything.

      • bloodiOS

The frame rate seems to be a lot smoother though so i thought that might’ve been a direct-feed.

  • Invisbin

    Another one bites the dust

  • greenreaper

I guess game delays should be officially considered as part of the “next gen” experience as well. How many AAA titles have been delayed so far? More than several? Delays are good in the fact that devs. have more time to fix it up and make the game better, but I rather they set a date they know will give them more than enough time, and release earlier if they finish before then. That way you won’t crush expectations. I don’t work in the game industry so things probably aren’t as simple as that though. Still, this delay trend is getting annoying.

    • Elvick

We had plenty of delays last generation. Some collossal ones. FFXIII, FFXV, The Last Guardian, The Last of Us was delayed if I remember right, I want to say GTAV was delayed too.

      • Invisbin

Yeah…but not at the start of the generation. Not from what I recall.

        • 罪罰

          There’s always been delays.

          • Invisbin

And I haven’T said they don’t. These delays are more frequent than ever, PLUS it’s the beginning of a new console generation. If you can find a similar amount of games (that were supposed to be launch window titles and announced at the start of a generation) that got delayed then I’ll gladly hush.

            • Mikail

or that maybe thanks to the Internet forums and social media will get more news often.

        • Elvick

As if that would matter. Delays always happen.

Also, Sonic ’06 SHOULD have been delayed… that game alone should give people reason to love delays.

          • Invisbin

Yeah but I see a difference in a game delayed and a game rushed.

  • Syltique

Looks like Wii U will be the system to own this holiday.

    • Budgiecat

Maybe if X and Bayonetta 2 come out as well as Fire Emblem X SMt

    • 罪罰

I might have to agree with you on that one, if Bayonetta 2 and Zelda miraculously launch this holiday season.

      • Anime10121

It already is for me! Heck even if its just Bayonetta and Smash, it’ll be the best Next gen system out for me this year! Throw in X and the pot would forever be sweeter ;)

But this year was always gonna be Wii U’s anyway, it had much more time on the market, and thus its second gen wave of games are starting to release, while the other two are still pushing HD remasters and cross gen stuffs (this coming from someone who has as of yet STILL not purchased an actual Wii U game for his near launch console)!

    • AdamBoy64

      Yeah, absolutely.
Particularly with how well Mario Kart 8 turned out.

  • BossTuff

Carrot and the stick eh? Seems like all of the delay announcements have some new footage to go with it, just to twist the knife.

  • Elvick

This makes me sad. I’m not hugely surprised though.

  • Anime10121

    lol XD
