  • Budgiecat

No PS4 version for PES but FIFA can (and sold well in Japan)?

360 always at a steady 200 sales. Something seems dubious about that….

    • articuzwolf

not long ago it was steady 300…so not really

    • McPoo

      That’s cos FIFA > PES.

  • ludgerWkresnik

35 thousand for ISS seem pretty good

  • DarthBrian

Is it just me or does PS4 not appear to be selling well in Japan? :p

    • kurosan9712

      Because…it doesn’t sell well, perhaps?
It’s practically empty, it has no games a lot of people would buy it for.
I’d imagine the sales would increase when FF15/KH3 or something really interesting will come out. Until then, it’s hardly surprising for it not to sell well.

I myself am not planning to buy it until KH3/Idolmaster 3(or whatever it’ll be, unless it’s an F2P)/some Gust game/something else exclusive comes out.

      • phayroent

So explain the poor Wii U sales? Because it has no games people want to buy it for. Don’t try to play that “it has no games” card just for non-Nintendo consoles when the Wii U only has more sales than the PS4 because it was released a year before. And not even that many more sales, even if people think it actually has games to buy.

        • kurosan9712

There is nothing to explain about WiiU sales. Everyone knows it’s problem is software, and even Iwata acknowledged it.

As for why I’m getting a WiiU, not PS4 or XONE – it’s easy.
Unlike PS4, WiiU has a favorable situation for me.
By the time I buy it, it’ll have 3 games I want out, and 2 more announced, of which 1 is somewhere near it’s release.

PS4, unlike WiiU, has only 2 games announced, one of which is still at the beginning of development, and one isn’t even in development yet, doesn’t even have a name to it.

    • MrKappa

There is no system seller on it and the Japanese rather just play games on their 3DS and phones lately so that doesn’t help either.

    • articuzwolf

Japanese people: “Okay, I’ll pick up PS4 today and buy…errr…nvm maybe next year”

  • 武神水樹

    Really slow lately

  • Renaldi Saputra

even the PSP one still do quite good

  • bldudas

I guess the PS4 isn’t selling well because of the types of games currently available for it.

  • Eder García

we are close to the World Cup, no strange why PES sold well. (considering that Japan is a 100% Baseball nation). preparations for MK8 complete. those WiiU sales!!!
Yokai practically passed the million mark. congrats.
    Idolm@ster almost sold out.

  • OlimacFTW

In Japan, people have the fever… the fever for SOCCER!

    • DarthBrian

      They need more cowbell.

    • 罪罰

      and Basketball.

  • Stealth

Wii U is the number 1 console sold? Did not see that coming.

    • Mexcomesback

      Mario Kart 8 dude

      • Stealth

I thought during that week. Isnt even out yet

        • Mexcomesback

People are buying it before for that game

          • MrFinalgamer

I thought the Wii U was getting a bundle, like NA.

            • Luther DePapier

There’s no MK8 bundle in Japan. Might be one in the holiday season though.
Japanese aren’t as bundle-centric as we are in the West.

              • MrFinalgamer

Yet the 3DS gets a bundle for every other game (or at least it looks that way >_>)

                • Luther DePapier

OK. What I mean is that they don’t use bundles in Japan to drive install base, they use bundles to sustain it. In the case of the 3DS, that’s what it’s all about and that’s why it gets bundles ever other day.

Nintendo didn’t make a Super Mario 3D World bundle in Japan when the game launched. They didn’t make one for Mario Kart 8 either. In Japan it is culturally in-grained that to play a game, they need the system; in the West we have somewhat of a barrier against that, which is why Nintendo uses bundles to sell hardware.

When it comes to Japan, Nintendo utilises bundles to augment the value of the platform with games that already released, or games that people might have overlooked but definitely need at this point in time to experience the best of the platform (NSMBU+NSLU, Wii Sports Club, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U).

                  • MrFinalgamer

Ah, thanks for that clarification! =D

                    • Luther DePapier

                      You’re welcome! :D

    • Luther DePapier

We all know Nintendo owns the Japan. From that observation, it’s really not surprising.
But a couple of people denied it a while back and now it’s happening.

  • articuzwolf

first time WIIU topping PS4 O____o

  • TetsuyaHikari

    It’s quite surprising to still see PES going strong in Japan. It is kind of sad to see Super Robot Wars finally pushed off the list though ;w;

  • David Curry

In the Comedian’s words, Wii U in Japan is currently “the best-selling console… on the cinder”

  • Akari Akaza

    What!?..that was fast IdolM@ster went down..=(

    • Kevadu

Looks like a pretty normal drop to me…

  • Nonscpo

Is 22,327 units sold bad for a game like To Love Ru in its opening week or is that the average? Surprised the Wii U is outselling the PS3 & PS4 but then again it might be the pre Mario Matt 8 hype sales.

  • To Love Ru doing well and it deserves it since its a solid and fun game compared to exstetra.

  • PrinceHeir

    Hang in there Kirby!

  • Luther DePapier

    Lmao. Yes.

  • Luther DePapier

I don’t know, like, aren’t the Wii U and 3DS the two best selling consoles this week?

Exactly. Don’t say stuff that won’t stand the test of time.
