Building upon the success of Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Ubisoft has announced it will launch Far Cry 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on November 18 in North America and November 20 in Europe.
The game is set in Kyrat, an untamed region currently ruled by a despotic self-appointed king. Though beautiful, Kyrat is a “wild land full of perils” and “teeming with wildlife.”
Players will once again be able to develop their own story as they travel through the open-world of Kyrat, utilizing their skills and an assortment of weapons and vehicles to survive.
Consumers who pre-order Far Cry 4 will receive a free upgrade to the Limited Edition, which includes the ‘Hurk’s Redemption’ add-on, a series of three missions featuring Hurk from Far Cry 3‘s additional content; and “The Impaler” harpoon gun.
“Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations,” Far Cry 4 executive producer Dan Hay said. “Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”
Far Cry 4 is in development at Ubisoft Montreal with support from Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shangai, and Ubisoft Kiev.
Ubisoft plans to show more of the game during its E3 press briefing next month. View a higher-res version of the box art at the gallery.
