inFAMOUS: Second Son

This week’s Famitsu review scores are partially out. As has become increasingly commonplace as of late with our sources for advance leaks, a number within each batch of scores this week has been obscured, rendering us unable to provide the final point tally for the time being. We’ll edit this post once that information becomes available.

  • Amnesia World (PSV) – 7/8/8/*
  • inFAMOUS: Second Son (PS4) – 9/*/9/9
  • To Love-Ru Trouble Darkness: Battle Ecstasy (PSV) – */7/7/7
  • World Soccer Winning Eleven 2014: Aoki Samurai no Chousen (PS3) – 8/8/*/9
  • World Soccer Winning Eleven 2014: Aoki Samurai no Chousen (3DS) – 7/7/*7
  • World Soccer Winning Eleven 2014: Aoki Samurai no Chousen (PSP) – 6/*/6/6

I’m glad second son got a good review the game is short but I had a blast playing it

It’s annoyingly short. I beat it 100% in about ten hours. I love Infamous and I need MORE! A multiplayer mode where you could pick a power set would have been great for some more play time. Hell at this point anything to do after completing the game would have been acceptable.

      • pixxxelz

Well I take my time with games so it took me around 30 hours to do both evil and good karma play troughs, but yeah the game is really short and the fact that you can move throughout the city so fast didn’t help either

    • Ryumoau

i figured it would be short, so i rented it from gamefly. it was pretty good though.

  • Kayseur

Looks like a 28 for To Love-Ru. A bit low but not unexpected, it’s probably going to be another game I put onto the back of my shelves after a while and forget it existed. But that I’m still glad I bought when I remember it.

    censoring again? welp

  • sub_o

It would be funnier if they just pixellated the scores, rather than replacing them with asterisks.

Do many people in Japan get to experience titles like InFamous? I’d imagine that if you do see a lot of western games, you have to look at most Japanese games and just kind of get PO’ed occasionally that the production values, tech and engineering aren’t anywhere near there.

I wonder if Famitsu’s editors, at least, feel that way sometimes? That they look at a game like Second Son and think, “Why couldn’t we ever make a Ghost in the Shell (for example) game with a design like this or produced this well?”

    • DrForbidden

If you’re willing to invest $10 million or so in a Japanese development studio, I’m sure they’d be happy to get started on that AAA title.

Otherwise, I guess the Japanese just have to settle for AAA franchises like MGS or Ryu Ga Gotoku or the next Tales of RPG.

    • DevilMayCry898

That’s a good question in itself.
