  • Renaldi Saputra

so now famitsu scoring isn’t censored anymore?

    • http://freelansations.tumblr.com/ Thomas James

For the time being. We’re not directly in touch with the people who leak magazine contents ahead of time before we get our own copy, so we’re not entirely sure what’s been going on, but that’s at least the case for this week, yes. To my pleasant surprise, most information was actually available uncensored. For my own sanity and that of the readers, I can only hope it stays that way again.

      • Renaldi Saputra

        yeah I hope so…
last week famitsu scoring maybe was still being censored, so I can expect it wasn’t shown here

      • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

I think the difference this week is that it leaked a day late, what with Golden Week ending and what not. Considering the leaks were literally only about 6 hours from the magazine’s release, I’m sure more people had access to it.

If you remember when we covered Lost Dimension, we got up the post about it on Tuesday, when Super Censor Hokanko posted about it, but the next morning (Wednesay), we had more info including the name from other sources.

Pretty good score for Idolmaster. Well, I had it pre-ordered anyways.

Titanfall scored higher than an iDOLM@STER game? What’s going on in Japan?

    • Audie Bakerson

      Ad money.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if that was actually true. This is why Famitsu is hard to take seriously these days.

    • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

Titanfall is not big deal, did not deserve that score.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

It’s just so surprising since the 360 does not do that well in Japan, but Japan worships iDOLM@STER, haha.

    • Renaldi Saputra

famitsu is a western shooting game fanboy if I think

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

        M-muh glorious nippon ;w;

        • Renaldi Saputra

lolz, most of western games that were released in Japan usually got high score from famitsu somehow

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

This is true. Titanfall getting that high of a score doesn’t surprise me too much. It’s just that it beat iDOLM@STER. That is surprising, lol.

            • Renaldi Saputra

maybe im@s isn’t a major game like dragon ball one piece naruto etc, even though many ppl in Japan worship it

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Eh… I’d say iDOLM@STER is definitely bigger than Dragon ball, One Piece, and Naruto games :p. Maybe there’s something about this particular one that they don’t like. I’m not really sure.

                • Renaldi Saputra

nope, dragon ball naruto and one piece are long running series, they’re exactly bigger

                  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

They’ve been around longer, yes, but that doesn’t mean they’re bigger. Also, I’m talking about the games, specifically, not the anime and manga. iDOLM@STER games have always had a bigger following, imo. When there’s a new One Piece, Dragon Ball, or Naruto game that comes out, I don’t hear that many people talking about it in Japan.

When a new iDOLM@STER comes out though, people won’t shut the hell up about their waifus and shit, lol. iDOLM@STER is one of the biggest franchises in Japan right now and has been for a while.

                    • Renaldi Saputra

that’s true, but you maybe only hear from different audiences, maybe they who are 13-25 yrs old…
but for those under 12, well, you know…

none of im@s games had reached 400k sales in japan IIRC

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

True, but sales don’t always equal popularity either, as odd as that sounds. I’ve seen plenty of games sell well in Japan, but still not get much coverage. They definitely seem to promote iDOLM@STER a lot more than other series though. This isn’t the first time I’ve been confused with their reviews though.

I remember there was a time when a Gundam game was rated worse than something else which surprised me.

                    • Renaldi Saputra

maybe it’s just being usually discussed by fans… A game might sell well but might not usually being often discussed

                    • Budgiecat

Pewdiepie is not playing/trending it :P

                    • Renaldi Saputra

bcos it’s very taboo in the west
I just mentioned in Japan, not around the world

                    • outlawauron

You should really look at game sales before this comment. Idolm@ster has a cult following but the games rarely go far into 6 figure terriotory. The One Piece Warriors game on PS3 nearly sold a million in Japan alone.

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

No, I’m well aware of the sales for it. I’m speaking in terms of popularity itself, not simply figures alone. It definitely has more of a buzz behind it than One Piece games do.

Also, Kaizoku Musou is a terrible example anyway. That mainly sold because it’s a Musou game and Japan eats them up. It just helped that it was tied in with One Piece since that’s already popular. The other One Piece games don’t sell near as well though.

                    • outlawauron

I see our difference on online buzz/actual sales. We’re just different by what we measure popularity. You should understand those that the buzz you receive online is very different than what is talked about and shown online in non-Western countries. :-)

Kaizoku Musou didn’t sell because of Musou. The past three Dynasty Warriors games have all sold less than 500k and DW8 did less than 400k.

The Gundam Musou games did even less. How is Musou the biggest selling point whenever the One Piece game is the highest selling Musou title since DW4?

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I said it was because it was Musou and it helped that One Piece was tied into it. I’m not denying that One Piece contributed to the sales, but people need to stop trying to pretend that iDOLM@STER isn’t bigger than it actually is, lol.

Anyway, best we just agree to disagree now.

                • DevilMayCry898

LOL!!!!! NO! The other 3 are heard everywhere! I can’t think of anyone who hasn’t heard of any of those 3 in some form or fashion. Now Idolmaster:(Yes its the truth laugh if you want)I never heard of it so its not surprising if there’s a bunch of others who also never heard of it either.

    • DarthBrian

Famitsu accepts checks from Microsoft too?

      • DevilMayCry898

        Damn right they do.LOL

    • Luna Kazemaru

Not sure how that possible but it happen

    • ShadowJetX

I keep hearing about how Titanfall is pretty good game, so I’m willing to believe the scores.

As for Idolm@ster, I don’t know much about it other than Makoto gets all my yes.

  • Orichalon Hades

    Moero Chronicle – 31/40

for a game that more or less about you rubbing a monster girl, the game scores pretty decently.

    (card game? what card game?)

    • rekka_zan

      isn’t moero chronicle an RPG?

      • Renaldi Saputra

        dungeon crawling like demon gaze

it’s a mix of demon game + monster monpiece

  • PrinceHeir

    • ShadowJetX

      Was beaten by Titan Fall.

  • Budgiecat

It’s because of Idolm@ster, we can’t get the author to continue Berserk!

  • FTM

Shame about the whole censorship and negative gamer-response to Monster Monpiece localization; we’ll probably never get Moero Chronicle in English now :(
But I was looking at an article over at 4gamer of Moero, and apparently there’s full nudity (with stars/hearts over the sensitive parts), whereas with Monpiece there wasn’t (one card has a butt showing I remember, but I think there was a very thin thong in there somewhere). So I dunno; maybe it didn’t stand a chance coming west anyway :P
But I’m not going to import; I took a risk with Monpiece being a card-game and was delighted by how easy it was to understand despite my not knowing much Japanese. But Moero Chronicle is an RPG— and I’ve tons of import failures with that genre (7th Dragon 2020, Sol Trigger, etc).

  • Kaien

Sonic is just too good for Famitsu.

  • DevilMayCry898

A Western Game is Champion!?!?!? Who gave Famitsu that bonus money!?!? I can’t believe it!!!! Either that or someone slipped a drug in the Famitsu Reviewer’s coffee before they did the review.
