Players terrified in new reactions trailer.

The Evil Within

The Evil Within, originally planned for release in August, will now launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 21 in North America, October 24 in Europe, and October 23 in Australia, Bethesda Softworks announced.

“Shinji Mikami and his team at Tango Gameworks have asked for additional time to further balance and refine the game in order to deliver the polished, terrifying pure survival horror experience they set out to create,” Bethesda said in an e-mail.

Pre-orders will include ‘The Fighting Chance Pack,’ which will provide players with a number of additional items for use in the game, including:

  • Medical Kit – A vital health enhancement to enable Sebastian to fight on.
  • Green Gel – Used to upgrade Sebastian’s attributes.
  • Double Barrel Shotgun and Three Shells – A larger and more formidable shotgun than the regular shotgun, it’s useful for tight situations with multiple encroaching enemies.
  • An Incendiary Agony Bolt – Capable of showering nearby enemies with damaging fire sparks.
  • A Poison Agony Bolt – Will draw enemies towards it and poison them, allowing Sebastian time for a quick escape.

Another delay? Well, at least it’s still releasing this year. Can’t wait to check out the PS3 version~

  • Impressionnant

Everything’s getting delayed. Pretty bummed out.

  • Bob Obb

Maybe devs should stop announcing release dates (or games, period) years in advance :)

  • Mexcomesback

This will become extremely common this gen, almost all “AAA” titles will get delayed or cancelled this gen, devs aren’t creating more AAA games and they’re focusing on mobiles or indie games.

  • 武神水樹

    Give me more delays please

  • Skerj

That pack looks pretty spartan, the real return of survival horror!? Yaaaay, I can’t wait to hoard everything and then not use it until the very end of the game.

    • TetsuyaHikari

Haha. Yeah, horror/survival games have taught me to hoard stuff too. I generally don’t pull out my big weapons and medkits until I’m close to the end of the game.

  • True Gamer

I think this delay may have been a necessary move on their part. Releasing a game on the same month of Destiny would be like releasing a horror film on the same day as X-Men: days of future past (Something like that lol).

      • True Gamer

? lol your comment is all bunched together. Are you saying Destiny has been delayed or are you making a prediction?

        • TetsuyaHikari

It was an intentional. It was also a joke, but if Destiny was delayed, then your reason for this delay will have been moot :p

          • True Gamer

Haha yea no doubt. Destiny is a game I want to be play this year. A delay on that will scar me lol just like the Elder Scrolls delay wounded all of my friends.. smh

  • 罪罰

    You Can (Not) Delay

  • Akari Akaza

Corpse Party Blood Drive better come in Halloween with Corpse Party 2…^_^ That will be my best Halloween game ever.

  • tokyobassist

Damn…by two months. Hopefully it’s for the best.

  • DarthBrian

Pre-order bonuses really need to stop. It’s getting ridiculous.

    • TetsuyaHikari

      What’s so bad about pre-order bonuses? I like them ;w;

Granted, the NA pre-order bonuses are a bit different from the JP pre-order bonuses though.

      • DarthBrian

They add stuff to make the game easier. >_<

        • TetsuyaHikari

          Not the JP bonuses :/

          It’s usually:

          A. Smartphone case
          B. Pins
          C. Poster
          D. Soundtrack
          E. Postcard
          F. DLC code (costume, mission, etc.)

They usually don’t give away stuff with the game to make it easier for you though.

          • DarthBrian

Well, this one’s pre-order bonus does. Stuff to upgrade your stats, better weapons, and extra health boosts.

            • TetsuyaHikari

This one does, yes, but I still don’t agree with your statement that “Pre-order bonuses really need to stop.” :p

            • nado92

I don’t think it’s necessarily to make the game easier I think it just if you want the chance to upgrade your character earlier. I didn’t think that neccessarily easier

              • Budgiecat

“Upgrading your character earlier” sounds like an easier time.

Also, store exclusive pre-order bonuses need to stop

                • nado92

What’s the problem with a pre order bonus? I think it’s great because it’s an incentive to buy the game. Why’s that a bad thing?

                  • Budgiecat

                    Store exclusive

            • Elvick

Well, you don’t have to use them.

  • PrinceHeir

This is my most anticipated game this summer :(

Oh well, at least they’re balancing it and it making it right :)

    And October!! My B-day woohoo!!

    • Kurisu Makise

I too was looking forward to a summer of hour but if Shinji says they want more time, I guess I can’t complain. I’m just debating about the platform to buy it on for now. Least I have time to think =3

  • bloodiOS

This better be running at a constant 30fps at the very least when it comes out.

    • 罪罰

      I don’t see why not.

      • bloodiOS

        You never know.

    • Carlo Dela Cruz

It’s possible that it can even run at 60fps consistently, being id Tech 5.

But for this case, 30fps seems like a better choice especially to maintain consistent visual fidelity.

    • tokyobassist

idTech5 by default is optimized for 60fps. Makes sense considering stuff like texture pop-in feels like an afterthought in RAGE. Wolfenstein is running at 60fps on PS3 and 360.

      • TetsuyaHikari

I think it will be more likely that PS3 and 360 will run at 30fps while PS4 and XBOX One will run at 60fps.

  • Invisbin

And another one down and another down…Another one bites the dust

  • Syltique

“Shinji Mikami asked for more time.”

That’s when you give the game more time. Well done Bethesda.

Now this is coming out around Halloween. Even better!

  • Budgiecat

    Just in time for Halloween…

  • Elvick

    Oprah’s giving everybody delays!

  • Tino S

That’s a good release window being close to Halloween.

  • desponent

    Well, shocking I guess.
