Meanwhile Sony is sitting on their laurels.

I hope they got beaten by Xbone in sales for this month just so they can stop being so damn lazy about their promised update.

    • bloodiOS

As if being beaten this month means much to them when worldwide LTD is still far ahead.

      • desponent

It will send them a signal and it’s still very early in generation anything can happen. If they’re as smart as they were last year and not drunk with the current “winning” they’d double down on reinforcing their weakest spot.

        • bloodiOS

          Time will tell.

      • Zackasaur

That’s true… But it doesn’t even matter, either way. The PS4 is outselling the thing 2:1. lol

    • Anime10121

Microsoft is certainly killing them on updated content.. Hopefully Sony gets their act together soon, as the console has barely gotten anything significant added since release :(

      • bloodiOS

        Sony desires maximum stability xD

        • Anime10121

          Huh?

          • bloodiOS

Isn’t that what the PS4 been getting so far? “Stability updates”?

            • Anime10121

Oh, lol yep, pretty much XD

      • Duo Maxwell

You mean “catching up with their lacking features that should have been at launch” updates?

The only thing lacking in the PS4 is suspend/resume feature. And MP3 if you care enough.

        • Anime10121

True, these features should have been there at launch for BOTH consoles, but Youtube support isnt on PS4 yet. Microsoft has also given a definitive statement on external hard drive support coming (which they say will be in the next major update), while Sony has yet to say anything on it besides it MAY come later on down the line…

          • Duo Maxwell

There is Twitch and Ustream archives incoming for the next update on PS4, and you can copy your recording data onto the USB. They said more to come, so I don’t know if that is all that will be added in the next update.

Twitch and Ustream are actually a better options if you ask me, since it isn’t locked down to 30fps like Youtube. It isn’t as popular, though.

      • Zackasaur

MS released an unfinished OS, so it makes sense that they’re finishing half-finished content faster than Sony are adding new stuff. That said, you’re right. The updates have been faster.

From what Sony have revealed, though, it sounds like the PS4 is getting one huge update soon.

    • Elvick

I certainly hope you came to Gematsu back when Xbox One finally got streaming and complained that MS took forever. Since Sony had it for launch.

      • desponent

Way to miss the point, but eh, console warzzz. Continue your thang.

FYI, I don’t care about XB1 one bit, OTOH I care about Sony as much as I care about my enjoyment of using their product. I however don’t care with Sony as a faceless company, they exist not to be my friend but to sell me product.

        • Elvick

I know what your point was. To bitch about something that literally every company does.

You however, missed my point. And no further reply will be read by me, as I’m sure it’ll be equally as useless as that one was.

          • desponent

Yes, shut up and give those company money instead.

You’re the shining beacon of truth and justice now I’ll cry in the corner and keep throwing some faceless company money to ease them the pain of being critiqued upon on the internet. :(

    • Zackasaur

The PS4 is outselling the Xbox One this month by about a 2:1 ratio.

      • bloodiOS

        Within America?

        • Zackasaur

Within NA alone the gap is not 2:1, but the PS4 remains ahead here.

The gap is something like 4:1 or higher in EU and, well, then there is Japan.

This is why we are seeing Microsoft put out constant “sales” to get an Xbone with Titanfall (and often with a year of XBL) for $450 right now in the US, while price cuts put it near or below the PS4 throughout Europe.

The thing is suffering by comparison to the PS4. There is a silver lining for them, though: The Xbone is currently outpacing what the 360 had sold at this point. The PS4 remains the fastest selling console of all time (still miraculously curved ahead of the Wii), but both new consoles are doing better than the PS3/360 did. The pool of early adopters in gen 8 is huge.

          • bloodiOS

Ho… and here I thought Titanfall would help the XBO pull ahead both in March and April in America. Who’s your source?

            • Zackasaur

VGChartz is the only good weekly source we have, but their numbers have matched official ones very nicely every month, so it’s pretty reliable.

Their software numbers are sketchier, but the west lacks official software tracking. :c

              • desponent

lol you mean they matched their number with official one when it’s out because that’s exactly what’s they’re doing. There’s a reason why that site is frowned upon or downright banned on some site and publisher.

    • McPoo

I’ve not followed the two consoles a huge amount, but it definitely seems like MS are more committed to putting put frequent updates than Sony.

      • Zackasaur

MS are releasing mini updates more quickly, while Sony are focusing on larger packages.

The Xbone launched in a tremendously incomplete way, though, so this pattern makes sense.

        • McPoo

What did PS4 launch with that the Xbox didn’t?

I should be getting an Xbox on Friday, hoping these updates don’t take too long…

          • Zackasaur
            • McPoo

Ah yeah I do remember that. At least they’re dedicated to improving and adding stuff I guess, I’m sure it’s given them an image boost of sorts.

I’m still slightly on the fence about what to get this week. I know the PS4 is the more powerful option, but I really like the Ui on the Xbox and as of right now the library is much more up my street >_< it might come down to a coin toss

  • Wolf Star

    X1 = Entertainment console
    PS4 = Gaming console
Everyone knew about this day one -_-
That’s great and all but we know how YouTube does with gaming videos (some). It gets copyrighted and taken down, same with TV, movies, music. I’m just saying.

    • Duo Maxwell

Twitch is actually a reason that the PS4’s camera sold so well, so I would say it works as an entertainment console, too. I know Twitch is good and all, but I still prefer if they allow youtube uploading instead of the horrible Facebook one.

At least this one is coming. I’d prefer editing it on my PC before uploading, too.

    • DesmaX

That’s only because of the music, actually. And maybe using trailers.

Raw Gameplay won’t get your video suspended (But just mute the game music, just in case)

    • AdamBoy64

Yes, I do hope the PS4 gets greater media capabilities, so it can at least match the PS3.

    • LordKaiser

Should have at least what the PS3 had, no excuse

  • Lelouch Vi Britannia

    I’ll stick with PS4 & Wii U.

  • 罪罰

Would love to have this on ps4

    • Zackasaur

      Already confirmed that we will.

      • 罪罰

        Aww yeah.

  • Impressionnant

Isn’t their Youtube app behind the Gold paywall?

  • Skerj

Damn, that came out of nowhere.

  • Elvick

Good, hopefully this pushes Sony to get it on PS4 faster.

    • Budgiecat

      why haven’t they?

      • Elvick

        Let me go check.

How the fuck would I know?

        • ayb_91

Because sony is just being sony. I hope that explains everything.

  • AdamBoy64

    Good stuff for X1 owners.
    More and more updates.

This is one of those features I could see myself using.
    Very nice.

  • Bobby Jennings

Wow. That’s great. Microsoft are really pushing out these updates. I love it.

Unfortunately I’m a PS4 owner. Here’s hoping Sony speeds it up and gives us this as well. My Youtube channel is hella itchy.

  • ayb_91

Ps4 has been finished in a fatal way.

    Fatality !

  • MrFinalgamer

I remember the time people bitched about Sony making so many updates, now people are demanding Sony for more updates…how the times change…

  • Duo Maxwell

    “Better” is subjective.

  • Anime10121

I agree, though I’m hoping the Playstation tradition will continue and it’ll end up with FAR more/better support, variety, and games than the Xbox!

  • Zackasaur

Er, how so? I definitely can’t find them.

Mind, launch games are fairly irrelevant anyway. First-party output is slways the same, so we know that Sony have more and better stuff on the way than their competition can possibly output.

So, outside of that reality, decisions are based on fandom. Sony will have far more and more innovative stuff, but if Halo is your favourite thing in the world, you know what to do.

  • Klozby

    Welp, IMO.

  • 罪罰

    Duh?

  • Zackasaur

It obviously will. It’s a matter of devs and publisher oppenness.

  • Elvick

Obviously not “duh” if he said it that way to begin with.

“It’s funny because X1 had more and better launch games than PS4.”

    Sounds pretty definitive to me.
