Total shipments for the retail version of Yokai Watch have exceeded one million in Japan, Level-5 announced.
Shipments reached 500,000 only two months ago. But thanks to the popularity of the Yokai Watch TV anime that began in January, total shipments were able to double by April.
The game, launched last July, is a fantasy RPG that follows Keita, a young boy who together with his new ghost pal Whisper, must gather ghosts and defeat the ill-intentioned ghosts lurking his town.
A sequel will launch in two versions in Japan on July 10.
Yokai Watch has yet to be released outside Japan, though a trademark and a tweet from Level-5 suggest a localization is possible.
