  • Call of Duty: Ghosts (Infinity Ward)
  • Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (Crystal Dynamics)
  • Thief (Eidos Montreal)
  • Murdered: Soul Suspect (Airtight Games)
  • Karysonson

If its more cheaper there than here, I might import

  • Stealth

Some of those developers I cannot believe they are doing anything.

    • Sal Romano

Well, this list is not to say everyone is developing for the system. It’s a list of developers that can develop for it if they want to.

      • Stealth

OH, that is different. I was like NIS Japan? What are they putting on X1?

I should have read more closely.

  • AdamBoy64

    That’s cool.

Will be interesting to see if there’s any surprises, like any neat new X1 titles coming out at that time. I hope so.

  • Wargreymon559 .

    Lol Japan is Sony&Ninty land.

  • Sevyne

Best of luck to them I guess, because they’re going to need it over in Japan.

  • LordKaiser

Have a very nice enormous good luck Microsoft.

  • DanielGearSolid

Registered to develop, doesn’t mean actually developing

    • Duc PC-QB

Registered to receive a free dev kit ? Not a bad deal

    • 罪罰

      *ding ding ding*
      we have za winner

  • bloodiOS

Will definitely surpass the PS4’s LTD in Japan within the first 24 hours.

  • 武神水樹

Looking forward to the Media Create numbers after they launch

  • Rafael Martines

SNK Playmore :( more exclusives :'(

    • MikelAL93

Don’t worry, they’ll eventually develop for PS4 as well. :P

  • Goodacre

I think the reason behind launching in Japan is for Japanese developer support and nothing more. I find it hard to believe the cost of marketing, logistics, licenses, infrastructure, and support of the console in that particular market far outweigh the revenue MS would pull in.

  • $104230449

I know the chances are slim to none, but seeing GungHo Online on that list makes me hope for a Puzzles & Dragons game on XO and PS4 in near future.

  • 罪罰

    48 japanese companies:
    2k games.

    • Sal Romano

2K Games has a Japanese branch.

  • David Curry

In a country where home consoles are barely selling at all (PS4 is doing about as well as PS3 before the redesign and price slash. Not bad for hardly having any games… Wii U is belly-up), it wouldn’t be too weird if XO at least sold decently. But that could just be my flu and fever talking.

  • Skerj

    Where’s Platinum?

    • 罪罰

      Making Bayonetta 2.

    • 武神水樹

      Making games for the WiiU

      • rurifan

        Such a waste of talent.

        • Eder García

next gen is too stronk for many japanese devs

        • 武神水樹

Don’t know why they’re so stubborn

  • Antonio C. R. Murray

Nippon Ichi? With Arc System Works on the list it looks like Sony is gonna lose Guilty Gear Xrd which is pathetic if so for them. It’ll be mind boggling if MS can get JPN 3rd party exclusive games but Sony can’t because the role reversal ain’t happening here (Sony getting exclusive Western 3rd party games).

SCEJA top priority should be to make sure that MS won’t be able to “put boots on the ground”. However the more I look at Sony these days, they look like this –

    5th/6th SCE = Shaquille O’Neal
    7th/8th SCE = Dwight Howard

One will do whatever it takes to dominate the floor. The other…well you get the picture.

    • Sevyne

How does ASW being on the list look like Sony will lose Xrd? First off, the list is of devs that currently CAN make games for XBox One, not devs that ARE making games currently for XBox One (the difference is surprisingly big). Second, ASW still releases games on XBox. It’s just Blazblue and Guilty Gear that they stopped with because they simply don’t sell well enough on Xbox.

Could Xrd come to XBox One? Sure it could. Any third party game technically could, but this isn’t really a sign of anything.

      • Ta23 Ta28

Basically, this is a list of devs that have received devkits?

        • shogunknight

Yes. Making, localizing or porting is entirely up to the devs. Except if microsoft puts a clause stating that whoever registers must make a game for the console

        • Sevyne

          Pretty much, yeah.

      • Antonio C. R. Murray

Yeah its just a list and I’m certainly not trying to jinx anything. ” if so”. That’s what I said key word “if”. However Sony can’t seem to retain anything these days i.e. Monster Hunter, KHIII, FFXV or make good deals i.e., Valve and Blizzard.

With the way the landscape is now, now is the time for Sony to crush to competition but they just don’t have it in them anymore. However to be fair, they did have a meeting with basically all the JPN 3rd party, BUT then again its Adam Boyes who on record has stated that he doesn’t really care about exclusivity.

“Right now exclusives are just a way for [console makers] to brag louder. Nobody gains from exclusivity in perpetuity. Developers now have the option to deliver on a huge number of platforms. We want developers to be successful.”

C’mon now. We know that’s bs. That sounds like a concession speech to me and this was before November 2013. He obviously forgot about the PS Vita when saying that. We know the reality. Titanfall single handily kept MS in the game, they didn’t win it (NPD March 2014), but they still in it and the game won’t be over for a couple more years to come. If what he said were true (which isn’t) then Sony wouldn’t have had to spend more money (develop, publish, market) to make multiple alternatives to one exclusive that they lost (Monster Hunter).

Its ironic he said that, but then likes to brag about Sony’s own games which are mostly average and misses when it comes to sales. Even with their best games like The Last of Us should have done at LEAST 12 million. In other words I would like to one day see a Sony 1st party game game create huge lines at midnight launches instead of being a supplement to others.

        It’s not about getting #1. It’s about staying #1.

    • icup ✔️

ggxrd was planned for ps3 and ps4. i don’t think that will change.

  • César H. Sandoval

LOL September? I wonder how much more PS4 consoles can Sony sell there with four months of advantage.

  • sunK1D

Makes no sense at all. Even the PS4 will most likely “fail” in Japan this gen.

Japan is gaming on their phones nowadays.

    • Aya

      Vita and 3DS.

      • MrKappa

I think you mean 3DS and smartphones.

        • Aya

My comment was meant to add, not to correct.

  • Aya
  • Noctionus

    Cute? Hamster? Zoo?
    Witf am i reading…

ot: Flack yeah From Software. Bring on new Cromhounds game!

  • shogunknight

MS put FFXV on their japan front page, they are really getting bold for japan arent they? Well, seeing 48 companies supporting next gen means were in for some suprises in TGS. I wonder which one of them will make an exclusive for MS

Edit: Halo? Is Microsoft going to release a Halo this year?

  • Ta23 Ta28

Nippon Ichi? Whoa, that’s a surprise. Did Microsoft make a deal with them?

By the way, I don’t see Platinum. Weird, the insider from NeoGAF said a Platinum Xbox One exclusive is coming, though.

    • icup ✔️

      isn’t Vanillaware under Atlus…?

      • Ta23 Ta28

        Nope, they’re completely independent.

    • shogunknight

Nippon Ichi normally does some localizations. I think they did for 360 (like square enix localizing call of duty for japan). It wont be a suprise for them to be in the list

      • artemisthemp <– Doesn't look like NIS have ever done anything with 360 then again, Wikipedia is made by the people, so it could contain errors

        • shogunknight

Ah ok. Sorry about that, I must have mixed up the publishers of some games localized to japan. Maybe they have a multiplatform title announcement coming

  • ExTrooperBrenTurner

G.rev… So they are renewing their alligeance to Microsoft, even knowing PS4 is doing a lot better in the West. F*** logic.

  • Fabian Ortiz

Nobody is going to buy it.

    • PachterStation

That’s on the cards. And they say the Japanese are hardcore gamers. Far from it.

      • Budgiecat

Japanese Otaku are hardcore gamers. Hardcore niche gamers.

        Japanese Otaku =/= Japanese population.

It’s the reason some small Japanese game companies still even make Japan only XBox 360 games; despite the user base being tiny, they’re fiercely loyal and dependable buyers, so they’re pretty much guaranteed sales lol

  • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

100 Xbones on the first week.

  • tokyobassist

    G.Rev? Come on I am disappoint…

Cave straight up closed off all ties with the Western market by shutting down all their English Twitter. Safe to say whatever Cave releases stays in Japan. Is the Xbox One region free for that matter?

    • Dennis Crosby

      Yea its region free

  • ShadowFang

“Upcoming Xbox One titles for Japan include Forza Motorsport 5, Kinect Sports Rivals, Sunset Overdrive, Halo on Xbox One, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, and more.”

It’s great to see MS learn from Sony’s misstep with the PS4 launch. Y’know, how they weren’t too interested in picking up a ton of bland, western games that appeal to aggro brodudes here in the ‘States? It’s great that, with their year late delay, they really worked up some KILLER Japan-focused titles! It’s like the second coming of Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, True Fantasy Online, Phantom Dust and Otogi!

Oh wait, right… we live in THIS dimension. Damn you, parallel dimension where Microsoft is less stupid! ;)

    • shogunknight

Well, they did say “and more”. We just have to see what games would fall into that ‘more’ statement. Weird, titanfall wasnt mentioned among the releases for japan.

    • Aaron Lee

Oh, really now. You’ve seen Sunset Overdrive, have you? Tell me all about how bland and “brodude” it is.

lol, “brodude”. I always trust diehard anti-Microsoft individuals on this site to lower the level of discourse like this. Fine if the games don’t appeal to you, but funny how people always denigrate them as “dudebro”…whatever the heck that even means.

But otherwise, you make a good point. This isn’t exactly making your system a hot seller from Day 1, but then again, no one was expecting it to. Heck, I wager PC to become more popular than the Bone in Japan.

      • Sevyne

Way to go on labeling us all, because one person said something incredibly hateful. Really appreciate that.

Anyway, I think people were expecting the wait for the Japanese launch to be because they were holding out for a better (more suitable) launch line-up. Sony screwed up in this regard too.

      • MrFinalgamer

Oh, you shouldn’t right Sunset Overdrive off as a non-bland game. I love Insomniac, but their track record has been VERY uneven, after A Crack in Time…

  • Kiryu

The other consoles are doomed now.

    • bro

      Sure. lol

  • Daniel Axelsson

What do they mean by “Halo on Xbox One” , do they mean , a show, or actually a game we have no clue of before?

    • Anime10121

They mean exactly what they say, Halo on Xbox one! All Halo games have made it to Japan, so there’s no reason the next one wont as well. The article never stated it would be a launch title, only that the games listed were “upcoming”.

  • Articuno76

It always surprised me how hardcore the Japanese 360 stuff was. Seemed like a Shmups and Visual Novel machine, genres which aren’t even that big over there :S

    • rurifan

I think the ease of development/porting for PC developrs is what got that niche on 360 going. VN deveopers in particular are not known for being the most capable programmers.

(And you can see a lot of VN have finally made it to the PS3 these days…)

    • Antonio C. R. Murray

Sony’s licensing agreements at the time were bs to them i.e. 16:9, and even here over in NA it was “had to be 3D” which pushed SNK Playmore away or “English voices must” which put Working Designs out of business.

  • DarthBrian

I’m actually starting to think that Xbone has a good chance of being successful in Japan. I think it depends on how much the Japanese consumers like that whole TV TV TV Sports TV Sports Sports TV TV Sports TV thing. That could be something that they find interesting or useful in their lives. Especially since they seem to only want to game on phones and handhelds now. Maybe a console that doesn’t focus on games and changes the way you watch TV/Sports could find some traction over there.

Not saying it’ll outsell PS4, but it might sell better than 360 perhaps. *shrug*

    • Razzlero

That’s what sony attempted with the vita tv and didn’t do that well

      • JerkDaNERD7

Exactly, have a feeling that Kinect just might be something they’re interested in, IF Microsoft can see certain Kincect capabilities.

    • Budgiecat

      Japanese are never home lol

  • Milesaru

    Altus and Arc. Good good!

  • rurifan

It’ hard to imagine anybody in japan actually buying an xbone after the miserable failure of two previous generations.

    • Somerandomperson

Depends on microsofts new secret sauce for Japan.

  • Eder García

2K games? so the japanese version of NBA 2K will have Ahiru no Sora, Koroko’s Basketball, Slam Dunk, Ro-Kyu-Bu! among other anime/manga basketball series instead of NBA teams?

    • 3rdworldgamer

if 2K put Sakuragi on their NBA game, i’d buy it :)

  • PachterStation

Hope the Japanese know that Forza 5 has a shocking track count, so at full price, it’s not worth it. Turn 10 should’ve released loads of stuff free as compensation.

    • Budgiecat

      Japanese are used to microtransactions.

Puzzle & Dragons (and most iOS/GREE/Mobage)

      • rurifan

Japan, the country where mobile “game” developers are so greedy the government had to intervene to limit the consumer exploitation…

  • Budgiecat

    SNK Playmore???

New Fatal Fury Pachislot port confirmed?

  • shogunknight

  • Aya

PS4 isn’t doing so hot, either, but that’s because people in Japan really have no good reason to purchase one, yet.
