New strategy RPG based on Tactics Union smartphone game.

Tales of the World: Reve Unitia

The next Tales of the World game is Tales of the World: Reve Unitia for 3DS, this week’s issue of Jump magazine reveals.

A strategy RPG, the game is set in the same world and features the same characters as the iOS and Android game Tales of the World: Tactics Union. That includes Asbel Lhant (Tales of Graces), Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia), Yuri Lowell (Tales of Vesperia), Jade Curtis (Tales of the Abyss), Meredy (Tales of Eternia), and Natalia L.K. Lanvaldear (Tales of the Abyss).

Daigo Okumura designed two additional characters for the game: the timid and gentle-hearted Terun and the strong and big-brother-like Nahato.

The game is set in Revaria, a world created by dreams. The main scenario will be fully voiced, and features chapters for Terun and Nahato.

A release date was not announced.

Some of you laughed at me when I said the next Tales would be on 3DS. Well guess I was right ;)

I expect 3DS to get even more support now that the install base is as big as it is.

    • Elvick

This isn’t even comparable to what DS got in Innocence, Hearts and Tempest.

But if you want to act like that… then ok.

I wouldn’t even say this is on par with Abyss’ port. That’s at least a port of a main title. This is equivelent to Radiant Mythology on PSP, nice and all, but underwhelming.

      • Bobby Jennings

Looks more like the smartphone game..

      • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

We have not seen ANYTHING, why are you saying this now?

        It is an srpg……..

        • Elvick

What’s there to see? (and there are miniscule screens in the scan)

We know it’s a Strategy RPG. That’s all you need to know. It’s not a traditional Tales game.

The Tales offerings on handhelds isn’t what it once was. It’s regulated to ports and spin-offs that play completely differently from what one would want from a Tales game.

Nothing wrong with the odd spin-offs mind you, or ports, but it’s underwhelming. As I said before.

          • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

So? It is still an original Tales game made for 3DS. This is not a port.

            • Elvick

I refuse to repeat myself a THIRD time.

              We are done.

  • Aaron Lee

I’m not about to hold my breath to see this available in English anytime soon, if at all…let alone here in the UK. Yeah sorry, the 3DS has kind of jaded me lately.

    • Ladius

If they localize it, it will be both for the US and Europe. They have
done a lot to revive the Tales fanbase in the PAL markets with their
latest localizations, and Abyss 3DS actually was released in Europe

    • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

Of course it will get localized. 3DS has a monster install base.

  • Bobby Jennings

    Hahahaha I can’t believe this.

Even if I wanted to play it I couldn’t. Stupid region lock

  • Ladius

Interesting, I hope they will localize it since the 3DS port of Abyss apparently sold well in the west.

Speaking of handheld Tales games, I’m still holding an irrational hope to see at least one of the Vita R games localized, but I imagine that’s a lost cause by now even with #jrpgvita’s results last year.

  • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

I do think it will get localized. 3DS is a lot easier decision via install base than Vita (what they said the problem was)

    • Raiyu

I really don’t think this will get localized even if it is on the 3DS, just because it’s a spin-off.

      • Claude

Namco’s been surprising lately as to what they’re willing to localize.

        • Raiyu

True, though I think they want to focus on getting the west caught up on mainline Tales games that we may not have gotten first before they worry about spin-offs.

  • CirnoTheStrongest

That’s an awfully small cast for an SRPG ._.
    There’s gotta be more characters…right?

    • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

Yeah, this is only a reveal shot.

      • CirnoTheStrongest

I really hope so! A tales game with a catgirl(ish) as the main character would be pretty high up on my list of Tales games! But if it only had such a small cast…well, that’d be a really poor SRPG.

        • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

This is also probably an enhanced port. Probably mroe stuff we do not know yet

          • CirnoTheStrongest

They just need to make it so the “DLC Characters” are included in the game and we’ll be golden! Either way, this isn’t a bad list, I just really really want Rita in it!!

  • Northstar

Tales of Vs sequence abandoned :(

  • Zechs

Oh God yes, so much want! :DDDDDDD

  • Izzeltrioum

Well you wanted Tales on anything Nintendo? There you have it.

  • MrKappa

Game never coming over and Nintendo region double ensures you won’t play it.
    I’m not happy.

  • Duc PC-QB

    Vita am cry ?

    heck Im not even mad

Aside from the mothership , the rest is kusoge tales

  • Sae-Won Yoon

…..I’m still mad about that RM4 april fools.

  • Ladius

Apparently this isn’t the smartphone game, it just shares some of its characters and gameplay ideas (some of them were already seen before in the series, too). I really doubt there is any moneyhat involved, too, they’re just testing the waters since Abyss’ 3DS port sold better than the Vita remakes.

  • http://ryuz4ki57inenglish.wordpress.com/ Thomas FROEHLICHER

Well, they moneyhatted timed exclusivity for One Piece Red World so this might be no different.

  • Claude

They must have gotten the money from the same place you got your claims.
