But a broad release frame will be announced.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Nintendo is hosting a Direct broadcast later today focused Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for Nintendo 3DS. While there will be news on the upcoming fighting game, there won’t be a release date, Nintendo confirmed.

“We’re not at the stage where we can announce a concrete release date yet, but in [today’s] broadcast, we will share a broad release frame,” the official Super Smash Bros. Twitter account tweeted.

Super Smash Bros. is currently planned for launch in 2014.

    2015 report ? ….

  • EX+

Hopefully it will still be releasing in 2014.

    • EX+

      I hope not.
I was planning to get a Wii U this year as long as Smash and X came out during 2014 and if the new mainline Zelda is announced this year at E3. If things go south, I’ll skip it and wait until next year.
But why exactly aren’t we getting a release date? This game was announced to be in development at E3 2011, unless they didn’t even start until 2012.

      • Nate

I assume they want to wait and announce it at E3. I hope they don’t do what they did last year and bow out of E3. I hope they get a stage. Otherwise they need to change the name to E2.

        • EX+

Well I understand people wanting them to get on stage and so do I. But I just want good content.
It’s been shown that even when on stage, Ninty will come up with crap sometimes. E3 2012 sucked balls all around, but the difference between Nintendo and Sony/MS was that the Wii U was coming out like 5 months afterwards.

      • Budgiecat

I say 2015 because of that other news bit of where Namco was seeking out programmers for “Super Smash Bros 6 for 2015” (which was later taken down)…

        • Lelouch Vi Britannia

I usually am always on top of the gaming news but Super Smash Bros. 6 was something i had never heard of until recently.

At the end of the Wii U cycle…

no seriously Nintendo….get your shit together….

  • Mαdασ「マダオ」

    Please understand!

    • EX+

I always thought as that being an SE line.

      • Venik

        That is:
        Please be excited!

      • Budgiecat

Its a common Japanese colloquial expression used usually by many businesses to express false modesty, sincerity and humility while asking for empathy, forgiveness and patience, meanwhile often the effect is the opposite, giving off more of a sense of insincerity, annoying deflection and avoidance, and a faintly sense of friendly sarcasm and trollishness…

in other words “Putting on airs”

        aka Bullshit

        • EX+

          Perfect explanation.
Even Atlus is wasting opportunities to show off even cutscenes of P5.
I just want E3 to come on by. It’ll finally force open SE’s damn mouth (and hopefully Atlus’) and show actual games. Cos’ ever since last E3 ended all we’ve been getting are closed mouths, worthless tech-demos and of course, completely irrelevant and unwanted games.

        • metalpants

Except it’s awesome when Iwata says it :P.

      • DXVII

You are thinking of “Please be excited”.

  • Stealth

A release window of fall 2014 is what we all think. We do not need a firm date yet.

That 2015 report was for smash 6. This is not smash 6. Chill out people

    • EX+

Smash 6? I thought they only made one smash per gen. Not that I like that routine.

  • Nate

It’s not like when they announce a release date that it will be concrete. After brawl I won’t believe a release date until I see it in the store.

  • MrKappa

I always planned for Smash to release in 2015. I’m sure they’ll announce it for Q1 or Q2 at the latest.

  • Stealth

There is no evidence it is being delayed to 2015, some of you are taking a rumor too seriously.

  • Zancrow

How about its goddamn name, then?

    • Zimmer Remmiz

The names of the games are Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Super Smash Bros for 3DS, i.e. SMB4Wii U and SMB43DS…

      • Zancrow

        That’s a joke……isn’t it?
After Melee and Brawl I expect something like Kerfuffle or something.

        • Zimmer Remmiz

No, those have been the confirmed names since like last E3 I think…

  • Bob Obb

    So 2015

  • Lelouch Vi Britannia

They’re also trying to release Xenoblade 2 which is going to release Worldwide this year. As long as this game releases even in October or November i’m okay with that. I’m saving up to get a Wii U & PS4.

Regardless though it would have been nice to get an official title name like “Super Smash Brothers Rumble” as an example though i can bet at E3 we’ll know the official title name just like the upcoming X i’m super excited for.
