Frictional Games has released a new trailer for SOMA, divulging details on the game’s unexpected setting.
SOMA is set deep below the water’s surface at the bottom of the sea. Which might not have been evident from previous trailers.
“Most of our earth is covered in ocean, and yet it’s something that we know very little about,” creative director Thomas Grip said on the PlayStation Blog. “It is an incredibly hostile environment filled with strange creatures, and it is right on our door step.”
The team at Frictional took a liking to the underwater concept as it’s essentially a new world all its own. The pressure of just 100 meters is enough to mush a human. And the creatures living underwater “seem like they’re from another world.”
Grip said, “Gigantic squid, luminescent fish and creatures that are all mouths and teeth are only the start. If you dive down any distance you enter into a realm of monsters.”
